Honey, Why Can’t We Get a Divorce? Chapter 174 - Side story 27
From early in the morning, Neil has been moving around busily.
Since Ophelia gave birth, Sylvester has almost completely stepped back from his duties, so Neil has been busier than ever.
At a time like this, Sylvester suddenly called for him. There was already a mountain of things to do as soon as he opened his eyes, so why was he being called? Neil felt a surge of irritation, but he couldn’t ignore Sylvester’s summons.
Neil, who entered the main building with Rivert, pursed his lips and muttered.
“Why is he calling me when I’m so busy? It better not be something trivial.”
Then Rivert asked back.
“If it’s nothing important?”
“Then… I should just stay quiet. I’m just a powerless commoner.”
Rivert chuckled. Neil’s eyes narrowed as he watched him.
“Stop laughing. If I quit, you’re next in line.”
“From what I’ve seen, there’s no way the aide will ever quit. I’ve heard you say it at least a hundred times, but you never actually do.”
“This time, I’m serious.”
“I’ve heard that a hundred times.”
Rivert stuck his tongue out and muttered. Neil clenched his fists and grumbled again.
“I really can’t hit this little guy. Ugh, after raising you, you’ve become an ungrateful child.”
Neil hurried his steps as if he was going to stop arguing with Rivert.
He soon arrived at Sylvester and Ophelia’s room door and knocked lightly.
If he had something to say, he could have just called him to the office, so why did he summon him to the couple’s room? He was puzzled, but as he had said, he was the kind of person who would waver at a single word from Sylvester, so he quietly remained silent.
“Yeah. Come in.”
Neil checked Sylvester’s response before turning the doorknob. As soon as he opened the door, the bright light coming through the large window struck his eyes. He frowned slightly but soon opened his eyes wider. In his line of sight, he could see Sylvester standing and Ophelia sitting next to the baby crib.
“Ah, Madam. It’s been a while. How are you feeling?”
Since this was the first time he had seen Ophelia after her childbirth, Neil naturally asked about her well-being.
“I’m feeling much better. Thank you for worrying about me.”
“That’s a relief.”
Rivert interjected between their conversation.
“Madam, may I come closer? I want to see the baby.”
“Of course. Neil, you can come and see as well.”
“Thank you.”
Neil and Rivert approached the crib at a quick pace. It was the first time Neil had seen Ophelia since her childbirth, so he wasn’t sure if he had seen the baby before. He felt a little nervous about meeting the baby for the first time. Neil cleared his throat nervously as he leaned forward toward the crib.
“Whoa…”
The baby lying in the crib was so small and adorable that it made a natural gasp escape. Even at such a young age, the large eyes, the button-like nose, and the deep dimples that appeared whenever the baby smiled were incredibly endearing.
“It’s really pretty.”
“That’s right.”
Neil nodded in admiration.
“It seems like the baby doesn’t resemble His Excellency. That’s why the baby is so cute.”
“Are you crazy?”
“I told you the truth, why are you mad?”
“You little brat…”
“Honey. Don’t be mad.”
Just as Sylvester glared and seemed ready to charge at Neil, Ophelia quickly stepped in to stop him. Neil almost felt touched, thinking she was protecting him, but…
“He just compliments me indirectly by saying I’m beautiful.”
“Oh, is that so? Well, I suppose you are beautiful.”
They say having a child makes you more mature, but when will those two grow up? Let’s just stop talking, stop talking.
Neil clicked his tongue and shook his head.
“Madam, madam.”
At that moment, Rivert, who had been staring at the baby the whole time, suddenly lifted his head and asked.
“It looks like the baby wants me to hold my hand. Is it okay if I hold it? I just wiped my hand with a handkerchief!”
“Then. Hold it.”
“Wow…”
Rivert stretches his finger toward the child. Then, the child, who had been making a fist and opening it repeatedly, tightly grabs Rivert’s finger. A smile spreads across Rivert’s face.
“He’s really small, but strong.”
“Right? There are times when I get surprised too.”
“Cute…”
Rivert, grinning while shaking the finger tightly held by the child, soon lifted his head and asked.
“What’s the baby’s name?”
She was thinking about how to phrase it, but just in time, the question was asked perfectly. Ophelia smiled gently and replied.
“Ainiel.”
Then she looked up at Neil and said.
“She was named after Neil.”
Neil froze for a moment at the completely unexpected words.
“…Yes?”
“Neil is like family to us. That’s why I named him after him.”
“….”
Hiccup! Neil hiccupped. He was so surprised that he couldn’t even speak properly.
“Th, that’s really, no, I mean, really?”
“Yeah. That’s why I called you. To tell you.”
“Oh my.”
Neil covered his mouth with his hand and stamped his foot. For some reason, the tip of his nose felt hot. It felt like overwhelming emotions were taking control of his entire body.
“Wait a minute. I think I’m about to cry.”
He snatched Rivert’s handkerchief and blew his nose.
“Hng!”
“Why would you use mine when you have your own handkerchief…?”
“Heeeung!”
“Dirty.”
Rivert clicked his tongue with a sound of disapproval. He glanced at Ophelia, leaving Neil, who was still sniffling and moved by emotion, behind.
“Does that mean the second one is my name?”
Ophelia snickered.
“No. The second one should be Theo. I’ve already named him Theodore.”
“What do you mean?”
At that moment, Sylvester suddenly interrupted.
“Theodore? I don’t remember giving permission?”
“Then you can give permission now.”
You’re suggesting we name the second one after the man who liked my wife? Sylvester was dumbfounded.
“Theo helped us a lot, didn’t he?”
“I’m sorry, but Count Cardel helped us a lot too. How about we take his name instead?”
“Hmm. I don’t want to.”
Sylvester’s eyes narrowed. It seemed like he couldn’t communicate with words.
“Anyway, since we’re already talking about the second child, does that mean it’s a signal to make the second child?”
“Huh? No, no. That’s not it!”
Sylvester turned his gaze to Neil and Rivert, leaving Ophelia in confusion.
“Neil. Rivert. Get out now.”
“Heung, yeah?”
“We just got here, though?”
He answers them, dumbfounded.
“My wife wants to have a second child right now…”
“Ah! Seriously! Why are you acting so embarrassingly!”
Ophelia, who suddenly got up, slapped Sylvester on the back and started nagging him.
As expected, no husband can beat his wife. Rivert smiled happily at them.
“Ainiel.”
At that moment, Neil muttered as he looked down at the child, no, Ainiel. He wondered how this small, precious child, named after him, would grow up in the future. A smile spread across his lips.
“Rivert.”
“Yes?”
“As you said…”
Neil said while looking at Ainiel’s bright smile.
“I really can’t quit.”
They were basically acknowledged as family.
“Ah, Neil. Just so you know, I won’t be able to work for a month, so you’ll have to take care of it. Got it?”
“….”
If he’s going to quit, wouldn’t it be better to say it now?
Neil thought seriously.
