“Big sis!”

“Evelyn!”

“Miss Evelyn! Sir Werner!”

All three shouted at once and rushed into the infirmary.

Evelyn was nowhere to be found.

Only Werner lay collapsed inside.

Holloway’s eyes turned cold.

Evelyn’s scent had disappeared again.

The scent Suriel had marked on her repeatedly vanished and returned only for this woman.

Especially when Evelyn was transported somewhere, it disappeared completely.

Only after some time would it return.

This time was probably the same.

‘If I wait and she gets hurt again……’

Holloway’s jaw tightened.

Since when had he cared whether one human got hurt?

Yet Evelyn’s safety was the first thing that crossed his mind.

Holloway bit the inside of his mouth and pressed a hand against his forehead.

‘Why am I worried about a human……?’

His confusion caused his aura to sharpen and leak outward.

Enough that Cletta and Moran flinched.

“H-Holloway?”

At Moran’s trembling voice, Holloway barely suppressed his power and pretended to look sad.

“Big sis……”

Children deserved to be protected.

That simple belief was deeply ingrained in both Moran and Cletta.

So whatever brief suspicion had appeared vanished.

Neither of them suspected the small, delicate-looking Holloway.

Moran gently patted his back.

“It’s okay. We’ll meet her again. Let’s ask Sir Werner what happened.”

What exactly had occurred here?

The infirmary was in far worse condition than when they first entered.

Sword marks scarred several places.

Other sections of the floor had been gouged by something.

Moran and Cletta couldn’t shake their uneasiness.

Cletta first tried to take Werner’s weapon in case he attacked again.

But there was no sword in Werner’s hand.

Even unarmed, he might still attack.

So Cletta moved Moran and Holloway farther away.

“He might attack again. Stay back for a moment.”

“Y-Yes……. Be careful, Lord Cletta.”

Cletta grabbed Werner and shook him.

Werner showed no sign of waking.

“Sir, open your eyes!”

After being shaken more violently several times, Werner groaned.

“Sir! Sir!”

“Ugh……”

“Sir!”

The moment Werner opened his eyes, Moran cautiously asked from behind,

“Sir Werner! Are you conscious?”

Holloway stared carefully at Werner’s empty hand.

Had Evelyn survived by accidentally destroying his sword?

Or had she known?

‘Sometimes she seems like one of those people…… and sometimes she doesn’t.’

“Wh-Where……”

Werner frowned and sat up.

Cletta and Moran watched him without lowering their guards.

Yet despite their tension, Werner did nothing.

Instead, he repeatedly grimaced and pressed a hand to his forehead as though in pain.

“Where is this?”

Clarity returned to his eyes.

Moran and Cletta sighed in relief.

Moran kindly explained while Werner looked around.

“The infirmary. You suddenly attacked us. Do you remember?”

Werner’s eyes widened.

“I-I attacked you? I don’t remember……”

His memory was covered in fog.

He tried tracing back what happened before he lost consciousness.

He had definitely been searching for the others when he met someone……

“Ah! I met someone!”

“Someone?”

Moran repeated.

Holloway’s face became terrifyingly cold.

“I couldn’t see their face because it was covered……. I think it was a woman.”

Holloway secretly sneered.

He felt stupid for having suspected Evelyn.

This had been a trap designed specifically for her.

Once he realized Evelyn hadn’t created the situation herself, his suspicion disappeared completely.

“She approached me and suddenly drove a syringe into my arm. She was too strong for me to resist. When I woke up……”

There was no need to explain the rest.

“Then perhaps the syringe caused you to attack us.”

“You mean the drug inside caused it?”

“It’s only a guess. But if that woman knew about the drug and deliberately used it, she may know something about this hotel. More importantly……”

Cletta postponed the deduction and asked Werner,

“You probably don’t remember, but think carefully. Where is Evelyn?”

Werner looked confused by the abrupt question.

“……Miss Evelyn? Why are you asking me?”

His expression showed genuine ignorance.

Cletta released a deep sigh.

“You and Evelyn were trapped together inside the infirmary. But when we broke the door open, only you were lying unconscious here.”

In other words—

Evelyn had been with him and then disappeared.

Cletta wasn’t accusing him.

Still, Werner’s face went pale.

He already felt guilty for forcibly dragging Evelyn inside despite her refusal.

Now, on top of that, she had disappeared while alone with him.

“D-Did I do something without realizing it?”

Cletta shook his head at the confused Werner.

“That woman is suspicious. Not only did she inject you, she deliberately brought you to the infirmary and trapped only you and Evelyn inside. Then when we opened the door, you had regained consciousness and Evelyn was gone.”

“Are you saying she used me as bait to take Miss Evelyn?”

“Circumstantially, yes.”

“Hah……”

Werner had not let his guard down.

That woman was no ordinary person.

Clutching his pounding head, he stood.

“We should find Miss Evelyn immediately. I couldn’t use aura here, but that woman was strong.”

No one knew what she might do.

The fact that she had brazenly injected him and brought him here proved enough.

“If Miss Evelyn was her objective……”

“Damn it. Is there some secret passage out of the infirmary?”

Cletta urgently searched the room.

There was nothing.

He worried that wandering aimlessly without knowing where Evelyn went would only make them miss each other.

As they searched for clues, Moran suddenly made a confused sound.

“Huh?”

“What is it?”

“Did you find something?”

“No, that’s not it……”

Moran looked around in confusion.

Then shouted,

“H-Holloway is gone!”

Holloway, who had definitely been beside her moments ago, had disappeared.

CRUNCH!

The sword embedded itself directly beside Evelyn’s neck.

A thin wound appeared across her pale throat.

Fresh blood ran from it.

Sellir looked between the missed sword and Evelyn’s neck.

Then slowly lifted her head.

She leaned back far enough to raise her chin.

Her lips trembled.

“H-Holloway.”

Long hair.

A refreshing fragrance.

And a height far beyond ordinary men.

Holloway had already returned to his true form.

His hand wrapped around Sellir’s sword arm.

He tightened his grip.

Crack.

CRACK.

“Ugh……”

Sellir gave a faint groan as the bones in her hand began breaking.

Holloway didn’t loosen his grip.

His crimson eyes burned through the darkness.

The murderous intent pouring from them was so intense it made breathing difficult.

“What are you doing?”

Sellir flinched at the icy, low voice.

“I asked what you’re doing. That’s twice.”

“……I-I was going to get rid of her.”

Holloway tilted his head.

His lips were pressed into a flat line.

His ominously wavering gaze never left Sellir.

“Why?”

“…….”

“Ah.”

Holloway let out a low sound.

Then squeezed Sellir’s hand even harder.

CRACK!

“Agh……”

Tears gathered in Sellir’s eyes from the overwhelming pain.

“Will you answer if I tear off one of your arms?”

Veins stood out across the back of Holloway’s hand.

Extenron went pale and grabbed Holloway’s wrist.

His hands trembled pitifully.

The two men, nearly equal in height, met each other’s gaze.

Extenron couldn’t maintain eye contact.

Eventually, he lowered his head and shook it rapidly.

“You want me to stop?”

“Yeah.”

“Why?”

“Uh……”

Holloway looked at the confused Extenron and raised a fist.

Then—

“Ugh……”

Evelyn let out a faint groan.

Holloway’s raised hand froze in midair.

His gaze slowly dropped toward her.

Evelyn was covered in injuries.

Blood surrounded her.

Rage toward Sellir and Extenron rose so violently inside him that his fingertips turned cold.

He couldn’t understand where that rage came from.

Why was he this anxious simply because one human had been hurt?

Even Holloway himself didn’t know.

He tried to regain his reason and suppress it.

It was useless.

CRUNCH!

Finally unable to endure it, Holloway crushed Sellir’s hand.

“Aaaaaagh!”

“……!”

Extenron rushed toward Sellir.

Holloway moved the fist that had been suspended in the air and drove it directly into Extenron’s throat.

THUD!

“Ghk!”

The force launched Extenron into the wall.

“……I’m fucking pissed.”

“S-Sob……”

“And I’m still pissed.”

Holloway swept his hair backward and exhaled.

The rage rising from deep inside him refused to settle.

Sellir lay curled on the floor, sobbing.

Extenron had lost consciousness.

Neither moved.

Holloway knelt beside Evelyn.

Fortunately, the bleeding from her neck had already stopped.

His large hand supported her head.

Then he carefully lifted Evelyn and pulled her close to himself.

Supporting her effortless weight with one arm, Holloway stood.

He looked coldly down at Sellir.

Sellir couldn’t hide her resentment.

With bloodshot eyes, she screamed at him,

“She’s human!”

Holloway lifted Evelyn’s limp hand.

Then pressed his lips against one of her fingers.

Sellir stammered in shock.

“Y-You……”

“She is.”

Holloway dragged his tongue over Evelyn’s bloodied finger.

Her blood tasted metallic—

but strangely sweet.

It slowly spread across his tongue.

The sight was peculiar enough to appear almost grotesque.

Sellir became speechless.

As though placing a final punctuation mark, Holloway lightly kissed Evelyn’s fingertip.

Then said indifferently,

“But I think she might be special.”

Ding!

[Holloway’s firmly closed heart has opened!]

[All values increase explosively! Emotional values have reached 30%!]

[Holloway now recognizes you as ‘an adorable and special comedian’!]

Unfortunately, the unconscious Evelyn was unable to express her gratitude.
