Taking the clue that it was a lake, they left the collapsed pillar behind and headed there.

Yeon-young took a deep breath and let it out. This time, she felt like she was on the right track.

If they made it to the lake, they would find Jaeho this time.

The path the spirits had made easy for her to walk on gradually disappeared. The deeper they  went into the forest, the thicker the darkness. They moved forward, relying on the faint light emanating from the white Sly’s body to guide them.

As they walked, Yeon-young turned her head to check Ryu Won’s condition. His silhouette was indistinct, as if a curtain had been drawn over his vision.

But from the core on his left ring finger, she could tell that Ryu Won looked somewhat exhausted. It looked like he had overused his abilities one after another.

“Ryu Won, are you okay? You used too many abilities earlier, didn’t you? Should we take a break?”

“I think I’ll be fine if you give me a kiss. Why don’t we do it under the tree since no one is here?”

“Can’t you see?”

Yeon-young lifted the white sly in her arms once. The white sly bounced lightly and plumply, as if to show its harmlessness. Ryu Won must have seen it too, because he clicked his tongue slightly.

“I hope this situation is over soon, so I can kick that Sly out of my house. He’s annoying, very annoying.”

“But haven’t you gotten used to him? You’ve been sleeping with him every night.”

“It’s not that little creature you should be attached to, it’s me. I’m the one you should be caring about, not the Sly, and you’re taking his side when you could be cuddling with me.”

“Looks like you still have some stamina left.”

The words flowed like a clear stream of water, and Yeon-young felt less worried about him.

Still, she shifted the white Sly around, scanning her surroundings. She remembered something she’d learned when she first trained with Zhaolin.

“I found it.”

At that moment, Yeon-young’s pace stopped as she scanned the treetops. She let out a small groan as she spotted something and approached a patch of grass.

There was an open fruit in a hard-to-see spot. It was a Divine.

“You’re right about them being hard to find, aren’t you?”

Today, Yeon-young had hiked up the mountain looking for divines, but hadn’t found any. Of course, the Snarl invasion had damaged the area, making them hard to find, but even with that in mind, Divines were a rare fruit.

Yeon-young breathed a sigh of relief as she looked at the one open Divine. She’d almost passed this one by without picking it up.

The light from the white sly made the glossy surface of the Divine glisten smoothly. Ryu Won shook his head and stood beside Yeon-young.

“Not this way, we still have a long way to go before we reach the lake.”

“No, I was looking for something else before that. Look, do you see it?”

Yeon-young pointed to the Divine with her index finger and held the white Sly light there, and Ryu Won slowly raised his head, spotting the Divine hidden in the grass.

He looked at her, his eyebrows slightly raised in wonder.

“You’ve been looking for the Divine all this time?”

“Yes, I thought it might be helpful. Ryu Won, do you think you can pick that with the wind?”

“Of course.”

With a feather-light gesture, he plucked the Divine and handed it to Yeon-young. She studied the divine intently as it rested in her palm. The incident that had turned her into a Sly had traumatized her.

After checking the surface of the Divine several times, she handed it to Ryu Won.

“Ryu Won, they say this is good for restoring your energy.”

“You only have one of these, are you giving it to me?”

“I was looking for it to give it to you in the first place.”

A faint smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. His eyes were filled with affection for her, and Ryu Won shook his head and pushed it toward her.

“You can eat it.”

“…What?”

“At this point, it’s better for you to recover your strength.”

“I’m still better than Ryu Won, aren’t I?”

“I’ve had to use my abilities this much before, not often, so I can gauge how much water is in the bowl, but you haven’t had a bowl this big for a while.”

Ryu Won reached out and gently swept her bangs back, the warmth of his touch causing Yeon-young to close her eyes softly at the sensation.

“Without realizing it you’ve probably pushed yourself more than I have.”

“Still…”

“Even if we lose you here, we’ll still lose a lot of manpower, so while I appreciate your feelings, I think you should eat this divine for the sake of efficiency.”

He spoke in a sweet voice, but the meaning behind it was quite stern. Understanding Ryu Won’s meaning, Yeon-young nodded once in defeat.

Ryu Won’s eyes relaxed and he smiled brightly. Rolling the divine in her hand a few times, Yeon-young took a big bite out of it.

The refreshing juice enveloped her mouth like drinking cool water. It felt like the Divine’s energy was draining away along with her fatigue. Yeon-young looked at the half-finished Divine and slipped it into her pocket without Ryu Won’s knowledge.

One bite was enough to relieve her fatigue, and she felt bad that he hadn’t consumed the Divine. She decided to seize the opportunity before the Divine disappeared.

They chatted and walked quickly, and before she knew it, they were at the lake.

Yeon-young was nervous as she looked at the steaming lake. She didn’t know when or how a Snarl or Jung Jaeho would jump out.

“Yeon-young, do you feel something?”

At his gentle question, Yeon-young closed her eyes and focused on the lake. Aside from the intermittent lapping of the water, it was as empty as the fields.

She looked up and bit her lower lip tightly, realizing that she’d gotten it wrong again.

“Did I get it wrong, or am I thinking backwards…”

“Ming!”

“I don’t think so. I think I got it right.”

At that moment, the White Sly, who was calmly in Yeon-young’s arms, reacted violently as soon as he saw the lake.

The white Sly ran around as if he was going to jump into the lake at any moment. Yeon-young managed to calm him down and put her arms around him.

“Do you think there’s something in there?”

“Ming Ming!”

The white Sly seemed to have sensed some kind of energy that she hadn’t. Yeon-young glanced at Ryu Won, then turned her attention back to the Sly.

‘Why was the white Sly reacting so strongly?’

After a moment of thought, she looked down at Sly and said,

“Are there other kids over there? Can you feel them?”

“Ming!”

As if he understood her question, the Sly began to get excited again. As if Yeon-young’s strength wasn’t enough, Ryu Won snatched the Sly from her arms.

The white Sly froze in place, as if suddenly in Ryu Won’s arms. Yeon-young let out a small laugh as Ryu Won looked like he was holding a baby in a swaddling blanket.

She turned her head and carefully scanned the surface of the lake. If the kidnapped White Sly was down there, that meant Negro’s lab or headquarters might be here. Yeon-young’s guess was correct.

‘Why would Jaeho give up such important information?’

It would have been hard to find this place without reversing Jae-ho’s information. Why would he emphasize the waterfront and leave such a comment to Yeon-young?

“Ryu Won, don’t you think it’s a little strange over there?”

“Where?”

It was then that the central part of the lake stood out. Elsewhere, the water was choppy and motionless, as if he had only drawn a small portion of it.

Ryu Won, who had been examining the lake with a furrowed brow, nodded in wonder.

“It’s definitely strange.”

“That’s where Jung Jaeho could be. What can we do, even with Jung Jaeho’s ability, it’s probably dangerous to go directly into the water…”

“It’s okay.”

Ryu Won stepped closer to the lake, as if he was about to enter it, and stretched out his hand toward the center. The calm surface rippled violently, and in an instant, it split into two sides.

Yeon-young’s mouth dropped open slightly and she couldn’t look away from the mysterious sight.

She slowly approached Ryu Won’s side and looked down at the hidden space beneath the lake with astonishment.

“Jung Jaeho’s aura.”

The entrance to a cave filled with Jung Jaeho’s blue aura lay there, and Yeon-young swallowed dryly.

Jung Jaeho is hiding in this den.
