Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 53
Yeon-young swiped her bracelet against the card key and the door opened automatically.
He stepped into the room in front of her. Yeon-young followed behind him with cautious steps.
The interior, decorated in warm shades of orange, felt like a business room for business travelers.
She liked the size of the room, which didn’t feel cramped for just one person.
“I guess this is our first night.”
“Please.”
“Aren’t you hungry?”
Ryu Won casually spat out the words Yeon-young had been thinking.
Ryu Won smiled broadly as Yeon-young covered her mouth in horror.
Of course, she checked the small refrigerator first. There was nothing in it but water.
She hadn’t even noticed that he was hungry, but Ryu Won’s question had made her hungry.
Yeon-young could feel the warmth of the soup soaking into her stomach and warming her up.
“I’m hungry, yes.”
“It’s because we’ve been away from Tanato and it takes energy to move around here and it’s exhausting.”
When Yeon-young admitted that she was hungry, Ryu Won didn’t hesitate to order room service.
Ryu Won had familiarized himself with the layout of the hotel room, so he pulled out a small nightstand next to the bed.
With the small table in the middle of the room, Ryu Won and Yeon-young sat facing each other.
The room service was ready sooner than they expected.
Yeon-young wrinkled her nose at the familiar smell and sniffed.
“Isn’t this tteokbokki?”
“It’s your favorite.”
“This is a hotel, can I order something like that?”
“Why not?”
Ryu Won lifted the lid to reveal a shiny tteokbokki.
As if that weren’t enough, there were also golden-brown fries and an ice-cream sundae.
Ryu Won handed Yeon-young a pair of chopsticks and pushed the tteokbokki to her mouth.
“Here, dip it in this, you’ll like it.”
It was a completely different feeling than eating at Tanato’s.
While it felt like she was consciously eating at Tanato’s, now it felt like she was truly alive.
As Ryu Won watched Yeon-young stuff her cheeks with food, he picked up his chopsticks.
With a steady stroke of his chopsticks, he placed food on Yeon-young’s plate while she begged for more.
“Was the mission hard?”
“It was fun, except for Idelia’s work. I’m almost sorry to go back.”
“Really?”
The tip of Ryu Won’s chopsticks trembled slightly at Yeon-young’s comment about being sorry to go back.
Ryu Won didn’t seem to notice and continued to nibble on his food.
After a few moments of thought, he picked up his chopsticks again.
“When we get back, I’ll take you somewhere more fun than this place.”
“Where?”
“You’re coming with me, right?”
“I can’t stay here when I’m dead.”
“You must come back with me. The place is a secret.”
Her whole body filled with warmth, Yeon-young put down her chopsticks.
Ryu Won smiled and cleared his plate, not wanting to reveal the secret location.
She was pretty sure that Ryu Won wouldn’t take her somewhere dangerous, so she didn’t bother to ask.
While he cleared the table, Yeon-young took another look at the layout of the room.
A table, a fridge, a toilet and a bed.
“One bed.”
Fortunately, or unfortunately, the bed was big enough for two people.
Her heart fluttered again, like a feather tickling her chest.
Unlike the first night when she’d rhymed the words, Ryu Won was actually busy cleaning the table.
Yeon-young put her hand on her stomach and leaned over the table to look at him.
His body, lean and hard, peeking through the buttons of his shirt.
Strong, fine muscles that showed with every movement of his arms.
Ryu Won started to unbutton his shirt one by one, until it was up to his neck in the heat.
Yeon-young couldn’t look away as his smooth flesh was exposed.
“I’m about to be eaten by you.”
“What?”
After clearing the table, Ryu Won looked at her with a slack face.
Yeon-young’s throat went dry. There was no excuse.
He took slow steps towards her, inch by inch.
Her back was already against the bedside table and she couldn’t back away any further.
Ryu Won put his hands on the nightstand and leaned closer to her.
His hair brushed against her forehead, tickling her.
“Am I bothering you?”
“It’s not like that.”
Despite her protestations to the contrary, Yeon-young’s gaze traveled to his smooth lips.
She felt the heat blur her vision.
Seeing her reaction, Ryu Won closed the distance a little more.
The scent of his body wafted into her nostrils like a flower in full bloom, making her head spin.
Ryu Won’s white eyes bubbled with emotion and Yeon-young squeezed her eyes shut.
The room was silent.
Then she stopped breathing. A warm hand touched her forehead.
She opened her eyes slowly and looked at him. Ryu Won hadn’t closed his eyes and smiled at her.
“I’m not going to eat you.”
Ryu Won got up and walked to the front door as if he’d seen enough.
Yeon-young stood there with a frozen expression on her face.
“Get some rest.”
“Where are you going?”
“I’m not going, but there’s only one bed.”
“Okay, bye.”
He let out a deep chuckle at Yeon-young’s firm reply and turned the doorknob.
“I called and they said the inspection will be done tomorrow.”
“That’s good, but where will you be?”
“In the lobby break room, with the rest of my conversation with Edelous.”
He nodded, remembering the last time he’d seen Idelia, when she’d disappeared like dust.
It was Edelous, not Yeon-Young, who Ryu Won needed right now.
He waved good night and walked out the door.
As Ryu Won left, the room felt quiet.
Yeon-young stood up and stretched, trying to push away the loneliness that was creeping in.
When she sat down, she noticed something shiny.
“Huh? Is that…”
The object, smaller than a fingernail, turned out to be a piece of jewelry.
Under the lights of the hotel room, the jewel shone as clear and transparent as morning dew.
Looking this way and that, it looked like the stone that adorned Ryu Won’s ring.
‘How did it end up here?’
Yeon-young thought about following Ryu Won out, but quickly gave up.
The jewelry seemed to be the main source of communication, and it would be more trouble than it was worth if they got mixed up.
With her thoughts in order, Yeon-young flopped down on the bed. As she relaxed, she barely had the strength to lift a finger.
She took the ring out of her pocket and felt it.
The outside of the jewel was polished like a diamond, reflecting the light and showing off its beauty.
When she looked closer, she noticed that there was something pink inside the ore.
She found herself staring at it, her eyes strangely drawn to it and her mind racing.
“It’s unique.”
Yeon-young held the ring and closed her eyes.
Weariness crushed her entire body.
She shook her head to shake it off and slowly began to see something.
In panic, Yeon-young tried to open her eyes, but she couldn’t.
She heard a sobbing groan, and a gray-haired man leaned over to her.
When she blinked once or twice, the background became clearer.
White hair blowing in a gust of wind.
A small dot under his right eye.
It was Ryu Won.
“Mr. Ryu Won.”
He did not wear the clothes of Tanato’s world.
His navy-blue uniform was buttoned with fine buttons that looked as if they had been embedded with sun eggs, and he wore a red velvet cloak over it.
Just like the emperor of some country.
Yeon-young couldn’t look away, couldn’t move her body, possessed by the figure Ryu Won was looking at.
Ryu Won didn’t shed a tear.
Still, she could tell that he was crying harder than anyone else.
She wanted to touch his right eye just once.
Ryu Won hugged the possessed man tightly and then touched his forehead.
When he pulled away, his navy-blue uniform was soaked with blood.
“If you die in my place…”
His voice was muffled, as if he had suddenly turned down the volume.
As the sound faded, Ryu Won’s face became blurred, and the background became foggy.
Then darkness returned.
Yeon-young sat up in bed.
“Is this it?”
She pulled the ring Ryu Won had dropped from next to her pillow.
Her heart clenched in fear, as if she had sneaked a peek into someone’s secret diary.
She didn’t want to peek into his memories like that, without permission.
A knock at the door interrupted her confusion.
Ryu Won stood in the doorway with a clean face and a roll in his hand.
“Are you here for the gem?”
“No, I heard that the entrance has been reopened.”
“Already? It’s been less than an hour?”
“Half a day.”
Ryu Won’s eyes seemed to close for a moment and then opened again, but the news that half a day had passed made Yeon-young angry.
Ryu Won blinked and looked at her.
“Is something wrong?”
“No, it’s just… I didn’t expect to fall asleep like this.”
There were still so many questions about his memories.
‘How many memories did he have?’
After a long moment of silent contemplation, Yeon-young came to a conclusion.
“Now that the gate is open, we should return to Tanato.”
Ryu Won smiled, glad to hear her say that she wanted to go back.
Yeon-young, on the other hand, couldn’t help but smile back as she kept seeing his sad face in her memory.
It was time to return to Tanato.
