Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 65
Yeon-Young’s eyes moved to the woman’s left arm.
Her left arm had regained its original skin color, as if it had never been black.
The woman smiled, her eyes as warm and beautiful as spring flowers. She was the only survivor of the incident.
The smile melted her fear, and she clapped her hands over her mouth.
“I see the potion worked.”
“Thank you.”
The woman thanked her with a weak voice.
Knowing what was inside, Ryu Won used the wind to push the cage away, making room for her to get out.
The woman staggered a bit after being trapped inside for so long.
Yeon-Young quickly reached out to help her up.
“Branch 4, missing phantom. Laurendia Publicette. She’s being held here.”
The appearance of the only missing person attracted attention.
As soon as Saeri saw the woman’s face, she recited the information like a computer.
Laurendia stepped in front of her, her left arm tingling, clutching her with her right.
“You saved my life,” she said.
“I’m so glad you’re alright.”
“May I know your name?”
“I’m Yeon-young Kim.”
Laurendia put her hands on Yeon-young’s arms and examined her.
Her cheeks were slightly bruised, but she looked better than when she was in the cage.
After studying her hands intently for a while, Laurendia spoke up, her voice hoarse.
“Ms. Yeon-young, in the name of Laurendia, I will help you one day, as your guide.”
“A guide?”
“Yes.”
Yeon-young nodded, although she wasn’t sure what being a guide meant.
After confirming the survivor, Zhaolin escorted her out of the building as if she’d planned ahead.
Ryu Won sat Yeon-young down in the corner of the warehouse.
Saeri and Zhaolin split up to sort Sly and Phantom according to the severity of their snarl infection.
The most advanced souls had lost all sense of self and seemed unable to hear their teammates.
Ryu Won stood by Yeon-young’s side and watched the hustle and bustle.
She tugged at the cuff of Ryu Won’s coat, who never left her side.
“Mr. Ryu Won, what will happen to the sorted souls now?”
“We will probably check their level of infection and extinguish them when the time comes.”
“What do you mean, why are you collecting all the souls now…?”
“To make it easier to destroy them all at once without missing any souls.”
“They’re all victims, and they’re all souls that we have to protect.”
“Yes, the souls that have been extinguished are the ones we have to protect, but we also have a duty to the souls that have not been extinguished before.”
Ryu Won was a blunt reminder of reality.
Yeon-young bit her cheek slightly as she remembered the soul with the lavender hair.
The painful groans she had heard on the operating table echoed in her ears.
No soul had ever wanted to be a Snarl. They were all victims.
‘Was it right for us, the Protection Center team, to let them go like this?’
After a moment’s pause, Yeon-young’s eyes flashed.
“What if we could take them back?”
“What?”
“If there is a way to bring them back, why not just vanquish them?”
“Ms. Yeon-Young.”
Ryu Won blocked her view. Yeon-young tilted her head to look at him.
“There are some things you can give affection to, and some things you can’t, like curiosity.”
“…….”
“Not that.”
He leaned forward, completely blocking Yeon-young’s view.
As if he wanted her to focus on him and nothing else.
Yeon-young bit her lip and stood up.
As she staggered to her feet, Ryu Won nonchalantly pulled her into his arms.
“I’m not going to save anyone in this state.”
“Please call for Ms. Laurendia.”
“Ms. Yeon-young.”
“Call her, there is a way to save everyone.”
Seeing Yeon-young’s determined face, Ryu Won called for Laurendia again.
She grabbed Laurendia’s arm and pulled her closer to her teammates.
Yeon-young put her left arm around Saeri and asked a question.
“Ms. Chairman. How is Ms. Laurendia?”
“Laurendia? Laurendia is pretty…, good.”
“Apart from that, do you think she’s a snarling soul?”
Yeon-young’s serious question made Saeri stop being playful and examine Laurendia’s features.
As if that wasn’t enough, Saeri picked up some dirt from the ground and covered Laurendia’s neck.
Laurendia swallowed dryly, nervous at the sudden inspection.
She felt a vibration in the ground around her, then it disappeared completely.
Saeri shook her head.
“She hasn’t been wiped out, so don’t worry, she’ll be able to return to Branch 4 as soon as we know what happened.”
At Saeri’s conclusion, Laurendia let out the breath she’d been holding in.
The corners of Yeon-young’s mouth turned up and she stared at Laurendia. She locked eyes with her and nodded slightly.
It meant it was okay to tell Saeri what had happened earlier.
“You have to stop the project to erase the extinguished souls immediately.”
“I told you not to get carried away. It’s important to stay true to your principles in order to preserve the world.”
Saeri wiped the smile from her face at Yeon-young’s suggestion.
Her golden eyes shone fiercely, like a sun she dared not look directly into.
However, she did not avert her gaze; she was certain that she was not mistaken.
“Ms. Laurendia was one of the souls that were extinguished.”
“Yes. After she was forcibly injected, she became increasingly unconscious and the snarling began in her arms.”
Laurendia held out her left arm to show them.
The needle marks were clearly visible on her arm. But that was it.
No other part of her body had changed or lost color.
“After I drank the liquid Ms. Yeon-young gave me, my body slowly began to recover.”
“What was the liquid you gave Laurendia?”
“I’m not sure, but it was probably a potion made of Sly’s powder.”
“Sly’s powder.”
The team fell silent as they realized the identity of the potion.
Ryu Won was silent for a moment as she muttered Sly’s Powder. Ryu Won pursed his lips.
She looked at Saeri with trembling eyes.
The ferocity in her eyes slowly faded, replaced by surprise.
“You are amazing. How did you find this way?”
“Ms. Chairman, can we stop this?”
Yeon-young folded her hands and waited for Saeri’s decision
.
With a shallow sigh, Saeri extended her hand and gave the special team an order.
“Stop the annihilation project and only sort the souls according to their level of infection.”
Her shoulders slumped as she spoke.
Laurendia patted Yeon-young’s shoulder lovingly.
Saeri, who had taken charge of the situation, stepped forward and asked quietly.
“Where did you get the potion made from Sly’s powder?”
“Oh, it was given to me by Jung Jaeho.”
“Jung Jaeho?”
Saeri repeated, raising an eyebrow.
Now that she thought about it, Yeon-young was also confused. Jung Jaeho was strange. Ever since Yeon-young had been taken by Snarl instead of Jaeho, he’d been acting like a ghost with a different personality.
He puts fail-safes in her bracelets and he gives her potions that actually work.
It’s not unreasonable to think that he wants to repay her for saving his life, but that’s Jung Jaeho.
He could turn around at any moment and rip off a piece of her soul.
There was something more, but she couldn’t figure it out.
“I have to ask him about it when I get a chance.”
Yeon-young gave her an awkward smile, her face tight with embarrassment.
Saeri, who had been watching her with crossed arms, took a step back.
For now, it was more important to know that the potion would work on a soul with advanced snarling.
Saeri gave more orders.
“Listen up, everyone. Categorize them again according to type and stage. Someone go get Jung Jaeho who ran away. I need him back at the lab.”
At her command, Zhaolin rubbed her hand across her forehead and ran out of the building.
Yeon-young filled the void left by Zhaolin’s departure to capture Jaeho.
The sight of the snarled souls made her heart sink, but it also gave her hope.
Yeon-young looked around and sorted the souls according to their level of infection.
Ryu Won was unusually calm today.
He didn’t help her, just followed close behind.
Yeon-young looked at him, her eyebrows knit together slightly. Seeing his confused expression, she relaxed her eyebrows.
Ryu Won stared at her with fascination.
His face was fresh and youthful, like a bud emerging in spring after a long winter’s sleep.
He had the face of a young boy in love.
“Mr. Ryu Won, why are you looking at me like that?”
“Why, what is my face like right now?”
In response to his question, Yeon-young let out a shy laugh.
Unlike his innocent puppy face, his words were quite bold.
“You look like you’re dying to see me.”
