Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 75
Yeon-Young shook her head from side to side and blinked open her eyes. The pure white lab light poured into her eyes.
“Hey, Yeon-young Kim. Are you okay?”
The white light was followed by Jaeho’s clear, delicate eyes.
He was looking down at Yeon-young with a slightly narrowed gap between his brows.
Yeon-young gripped Jaeho’s cool hand with confusion in her eyes.
Pausing for a moment, she chewed on her lip and asked a cautious question.
“Were you Snarl?”
“Did you see yourself?”
“Me?”
Only then did Yeon-young realize she’d been scanning Jaeho’s memory for a trace of herself.
She hesitated and tilted her head horizontally. Seeing that, Jaeho’s expression grew fiercer.
“You said your abilities have improved, what did you see?”
Jaeho muttered low to himself.
Still, Yeon-young couldn’t help but recognize his childhood.
Her mind was in chaos.
He wondered when he’d met her in Jaeho’s life, which was already dead, and how he was here as Snarl.
“Jung Jaeho. Who are you? You must be…”
“Why did I say I would help you?”
If Jung Jaeho was a Snarl and had returned to a clear soul again… he had every reason to help her.
Tanato was only one kind of soul. It was a world that was only for Snarl.
“How did you get back to normal?”
“…….”
Jaeho answered YeonYoung’s question with a relaxed smile.
But the more he moved his mouth, the more his face slowly contorted.
He was clearly trying to say something, but his voice was muffled.
“Shit.”
If he hadn’t spat out the word in a hushed tone, Yeon-young would have thought he was joking.
Jaeho ran a hand through his hair and looked up at the ceiling.
“Ha. She’s got your mouth shut.”
That made one thing clear.
Something wasn’t happy about Yeon-young regaining her memories.
Now she fully understood why Ryu Won hadn’t told her anything, saying it was up to her.
Jaeho lowered his arms and slowly backed away.
“Anyway, I showed you my hand.”
“Your hand?”
“The ones you learned today.”
“Is it because I saved you?”
“At first I thought I’d just keep that one soul shard, but then…, yeah. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to keep the subject.”
“What?”
“I’m a normal soul now, too.”
Jaeho placed his finger on Yeon-young’s forehead and swept it down along the line of her face.
He then obediently opened the door to the lab, indicating that they could leave now.
Yeon-young quickly ran out of the room, wondering if he would change his mind.
He didn’t follow her anymore.
Back at Ryu Won’s house, she lay in bed and couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Negro’s information about artificializing Snarl, their goals, and Jung Jaeho’s past life.
Being with Jaeho for a day and gaining information all seemed like a dream.
Yeon-young pushed the covers off her body and leaned back against the headboard. Sleep would be hard to come by tonight.
“Let’s take a walk and clear our minds.”
She cautiously opened the door and headed downstairs.
“Ugh…”
Downstairs, she heard the same painful groan. Yeon-young naturally followed the sound to where it was coming from.
She arrived at the living room couch. Ryu Won was sitting there, arms crossed, asleep.
He had his left hand wrapped around it and was moaning. Yeon-Young squatted down in front of him and carefully wrapped her hand around his.
She focused on the flow of power within Ryu Won’s body.
His ring finger was stained black around a white nucleus of power.
It had been since the day she’d escorted him out of Ryu Won’s house and to the training grounds with Zhaolin’s help.
From that day forward, Ryu Won sometimes had nightmares. When he did, fragmentary memories of his past life would come flooding back to him.
When Ryu Won became suspicious and went to visit her, his core always turned black.
“This is Snarlization…,” Yeon-young would say in a very small voice.
At first she denied it, but now that she’d seen Jaeho’s memories, she had to admit it.
She didn’t know why, but Ryu Won was having a breakdown.
She placed her hand on Ryu Won’s shoulder, trying to sort through her confused emotions.
Her hand was as light as a feather, and she gently patted Ryu Won’s shoulder. The wrinkles between Ryu Won’s brows gradually straightened.
Ryu Won’s breathing gradually relaxed, and the pain in his left hand diminished.
“Is it okay?”
Yeon-young focused on his core again.
The black cloud-like aura was gone, replaced by a core that was as white and clean as a new white shirt.
She sank to the floor beneath the couch, relaxed. She was glad she’d found a temporary solution.
The day Ryu Won’s snarling had first begun, Yeon-Young had done nothing.
She just shook his shoulder to wake him up.
But then something amazing happened. At her touch, the fits slowly subsided.
When she tried again, just in case, she realized something.
She realized that when a snarl fire is just starting, it calms down with the touch of another person.
From then on, whenever this happened, she would sneakily touch him, all while he was asleep.
“I have to find a way to fix this.”
Ryu Won still didn’t know about his condition.
In the meantime, Yeon-young had been looking for a way to stop the snarl without Ryu Won’s knowledge.
Finding a way to purify the Snarl was partly because Ryu Won’s job was on the line.
If she were honest with him, she could have found a faster way, but she didn’t want to.
She didn’t want to shock him with an uncertain premise when he hated Snarl so much.
Yeon-young had hoped that reading Jaeho’s memories would reveal something more, but unfortunately, it didn’t.
She’s done her own research on Snarl, and she’s tried secretly feeding Ryu Won liquid made from Sly’s powder, but again, to no avail.
Everything she tried didn’t work on Ryu Won.
“I’m scared.”
On nights like this, fear settled heavily on Yeon-young.
She wondered if the day would come when she would have to use her own hands to destroy Ryu Won as Snarl.
So she had to find out.
She had to find out if there was any other way to purify him, what triggered the Snarlization, and why Snarls even existed.
She studied Ryu Won’s face as he slept.
The moonlight on his face made his beauty even more mysterious.
His eyelashes were white and dense, like trees in a snowy field.
A neat, straight nose beneath, and lips that look like they’ve been bitten by a flower petal.
Looking at his sleeping face made her throat burn.
Without realizing it, Yeon-young reached up to his cheek and pulled her hand away.
“Why aren’t you kissing me?”
“Hmph.”
The suddenness of his question made her stumble backwards in surprise.
“You’re not sleeping?”
“I was waiting for you to touch me…”
“You were awake, why didn’t you say something, you scared me.”
“I was hoping for a kiss, but you didn’t do anything.”
When she grabbed his chest and couldn’t get up easily, Ryu Won pushed himself up.
He flicked his index finger in the air, and a warm breeze wrapped around her fallen body and lifted her to her feet.
She floated through the air and landed on his lap.
Flesh pressed against Ryu Won’s warm chest, she felt her vision blur.
“What, what are you doing, put me down.”
“It’s just a suit to sneak a peek when I’m sleeping.”
“No, I was just trying to wake you up because you were sleeping uncomfortably.”
“Did you have fun with Jung Jaeho today?”
Yeon-young slowly raised her head toward him.
Ryu Won gave her a questioning smile, as if he knew all about it.
She had to know how fast rumors spread in the center.
Feeling vaguely guilty, Yeon-young averted her gaze slightly.
Then Ryu Won gently pinched her chin and made her look into his eyes.
It was his way of telling her not to run away from the conversation. After a moment of thought, Yeon-young answered.
“I don’t know if it was fun, but it was informative.”
“Informative…, you mean?”
“Yes, by getting information about Snarl.”
“Mmm.”
He let out a low, satisfied groan. Yeon-Young seemed to have said just the right thing for Ryu Won.
Mulling over her words, Ryu Won opened his mouth.
“Have you been looking into Snarl again? I told you it’s none of your business.”
“I need to know…, so I can deal with it.”
“Okay, you do what you want to do.”
Ryu Won tilted his head in thought at Yeon-young’s stubborn answer.
Yeon-young stared at him with questioning eyes.
Ryu Won tightened his grip on her arm and pulled her strongly toward him.
“But I’m not going to help you this time, Ms. Yeon-young. If I cared, I’d sabotage you to death.”
“What?”
“I won’t ask for much, just run like that and look back at me when it matters most.”
The grave voice echoed through the living room.
But Yeon-young understood. How desperately Ryu Won was holding onto her right now.
