“Am I reincarnated?”

“What?”

Pawn scratched his head at her rambling words.

She wondered if, like her, Saeri had some sort of reincarnation story.

If she was the woman in Ryu Won’s memory, Saeri might have something to do with Ji Hua.

“No…, it’s just that Ji Hua’s abilities are similar to someone I know.”

“I hope she’s reincarnated again. Although that’s unlikely.”

“It’s not likely?”

“Ji Hua’s soul was so damaged by the attack that I preserved the fragments here…”

“Preserved?”

“One day, it disappeared without a trace. There was an explosion and all the soul fragments were gone, probably annihilated.”

Something about rage and curses.

The symptom right before the soul fragments were destroyed was runaway.

Yeon-young clutched the pendant tightly in her hand. Whatever it was, she had to talk to Saeri.

“So you have to be careful, too. It doesn’t look so good. It’ll disappear soon. If there’s any way…”

“What do you mean, it’s going to disappear?”

She heard a low, frantic bass voice behind her.

Yeon-young turned around and saw Jaeho and Ryu Won, who had brought the soul that had started to become a Snarl.

Ryu Won was staring at her with a look of pain on his face that was even more painful than the soul that had started to become a snarl.

Pawn stood still, glancing back and forth between Ryu Won and Yeon Young before summarizing the situation.

“Let’s get out of here.”

Leaving the chill in the air behind them, they slipped out of the Robillo shelter.

The black energy that had hung over Robillo had largely dissipated.

For the first time, she could see the verdant landscape of Robillo. Yeon-young marveled at the green and straight mountain ridges.

“This is a place I’d like to come back to someday.”

“Have you changed your tastes, preferring the mountains to the water?”

“Not necessarily. I like the peace and quiet of Robillo.”

“It’s good to mix it up. We’ll go to the beach as we had planned, and then we’ll come to Robillo.”

“Did we have a beach trip planned?”

“We were supposed to go for our honeymoon.”

Ryu Won looked at her with a commanding gaze, and as she studied his eyes, a memory came back to her. It was from the library.

That’s right, Ryu Won had told her that story, albeit to himself.

She let out a small laugh, and his mood, which had been subdued the entire time they’d been in the shelter, softened.

Yeon-young’s eyes reflected the crystal-clear blue of the mountains. Seeing him blend in with the mountains, she suddenly wished she could pretend she didn’t know him and travel with him.

“I don’t know about newlyweds, but I like Robillo.”

“You didn’t get hurt back there, did you?”

“As you can see, I’m fine, and Mr. Pawn says I’m in danger, but I don’t even feel it.”

“It won’t happen, because I’m here.”

He muttered low, like he was chanting a spell. It was an absurd little whisper, but it made Yeon-young’s heart sink.

She felt in her uniform coat pocket for the pendant she’d gotten from Pawn.

“Mr. Ryu Won, do you happen to know a woman named Ji Hua?”

“Ji Hua… That’s a nostalgic name. You must have heard something from Mr. Pawn.”

“I happened to read Mr. Pawn’s memories, and that’s where I saw the last of Ji Hua.”

Yeon-young frowned slightly as she remembered the last time Ji Hua died trying to save a Snarl.

Hearing her words, Ryu Won looked out at the mountains and lost himself in thought. He seemed to be searching through his memories.

After all, he had been in Tanato for a long time, so he must have some information about Ji Hua.

“Ahn Ji Hua. She was the special team physics captain before the rookie came along. She was a warm-hearted, bright soul, just like you, Yeon-young.”

“The timing…, I see. What was Ji Hua’s ability?”

“Earth, similar to the current rookie.”

“Dirt…”

“Well, she ended up with a shattered soul.”

Yeon-young clutched the pendant from Pawn tightly in her hand. He knew about Ji Hua’s end, too.

Hearing the answer to Ji Hua’s powers was like finding a small clue.

Ahn Ji Hua and Saeri are somehow connected, though she doesn’t know why.

Ryu Won cocked his head as Yeon-young smiled slightly, like a hunter who had caught his prey.

“Why are you smiling?”

“I’m done here!”

Ryu Won was about to ask for more details when Pawn shouted.

The first thing they did when they came out of the shelter was to save the souls that had been snuffed out.

In the corner of the clearing, the souls that had begun to snarl were chained up.

The spirits of Robillo used the Sly’s powder from Branch 1 to restore the damaged souls.

When the restoration was complete, Pawn called for Yeon-young and Ryu Won.

With the fragment of Yeon-young’s soul found and the damaged souls rescued, the mission had been successfully accomplished.

“As soon as we get back, I’ll go see the chairman.”

When she returned to Branch 1, the first thing she had to do was ask about Saeri’s memories.

If Saeri was the reincarnated soul of Ji Hua, she must remember something.

Yeon-young didn’t know if she could resolve her confusion about her memories.

At the very least, she wanted to learn how to find memories from the past.

‘But before, you said that Ji Hua and I look alike… It doesn’t make sense.’

Yeon-young chewed the inside of her cheek and was silent.

However, given the earth’s abilities and other circumstances, it wasn’t a theory she could completely rule out.

“Yeon-young, hurry up. What are you doing?”

“I’m coming.”

Jaeho, who had been held captive by the Robillo spirits for being a Branch 1 scientist, seemed to have finally been freed.

He called out to her, his voice filled with frustration.

In his hand was a triangular-shaped cube.

He tossed it into the clearing, and the face of Edelous appeared in the air.

He rubbed his hands together as if they ached around his trapezius muscles.

“You guys aren’t hurt anywhere, are you?”

“We’re fine.”

“Snarls, I can’t believe they’re coming at us so close together.”

Edelous’s eyes were bloodshot.

She’d come into the Fifth Division prepared for a Snarl invasion, but she hadn’t expected to be confronted so soon.

Ryu Won fiddled with his ring on his straight, outstretched finger.

“Are all the teleports working?”

“With the Snarl’s aura gone, the machines are in full operation.”

“Then open the door.”

“I don’t think I can, something happened in the meantime.”

Yeon-young’s eyes widened slightly, focusing on his words.

‘Was there trouble elsewhere, not just in Branch 5?’

Instead of explaining, Edelous reached out and touched the screen.

Soon enough, the screen disappeared, revealing Saeri’s face.

Her face was even paler and more haggard than the last time she’d seen her.

Her eyes were closed as she leaned back against the back of her chair, and she slowly rose to her feet.

“I didn’t show up for work, and they’ve made a big deal out of it.”

“Chairman, are you feeling better?”

“Well, not yet.”

Saeri smiled dryly at Yeon-young’s weak question.

She narrowed her eyes and carefully examined Saeri’s body.

Something was definitely wrong, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

Tapping her fingers regularly on the handle of the chair, Saeri lifted the corner of her mouth slightly.

“So, did you find the soul fragment?”

“If you can’t even manage it, don’t dare take it out.”

“Wasn’t it Jung Jaeho’s responsibility to manage it in the first place?”

Ryu Won’s eyes hardened coldly, but she shrugged it off.

“Huh?”

Yeon-young, who had been standing still and watching Saeri, rubbed her eyes with her hand.

It was a brief moment, but she saw it.

Saeri’s hand turned transparent, like a soul on the verge of dissipation, and then reverted back to normal.

She looked around with panic in her eyes. She was the only one who noticed the strange phenomenon.

“Open the door.”

“Didn’t Edelous tell you? That’s not going to work.”

Saeri pressed a hand to her temple, her brow furrowing slightly.

Judging from her uncharacteristically unsmiling expression, she wasn’t joking.

Ryu Won took a step closer to the video.

“What does that mean?”

“It means that things have gone awry. We’ve just been invaded by Snarl and…”

Pzzt-

Suddenly, Saeri hadn’t even finished speaking when the screen went dark.

Yeon-young looked up to see what was happening.

Suddenly, the world went dark, as if black paint had been applied to Tanato’s world.

“Ryu Won?”

Yeon-young called out to him, pressing one hand to her chest, and immediately felt a warm sensation in her hand.

Ryu Won had clasped her hand.

The spirits of Robillo Village began to murmur as if they had never encountered such a situation before.

Fortunately, the darkness that had fallen on Tanato’s world didn’t last long.

As everyone stared blankly at the sky, the light of Tanato returned one by one.

“That’s where it was, isn’t it? This is what it’s like.”

The screen had finally recovered, and the video showed Saeri sitting in the same position.

“The light flow of the Tanato World has been disrupted by the continuous invasion of Snarl. In short, it’s a massive blackout.”
