“Then you’d better summon me back to the First Branch sooner rather than later, you’re going to need me.”

Jaeho pointed out the problem with a sharp glare.

Most of the machinery in Tanato’s world had been built by him. If that’s the case, he should be the one to fix it, so things would be resolved quickly.

Saeri, who had been listening to him, shook her head gently.

“So. You can’t come here because you’re a high-level worker. The fourth branch is in more trouble than here.”

“Branch 4? Why?”

“The wires connecting the pillars there are broken, and it just so happens that today is the day the Fourth Division sly’s are released.”

“They can’t get out of the pole.”

“That’s right, so while you’re on your way to Branch 5, take care of Branch 4.”

“Why should I bother?”

“You can go out when you want, but not when you come in.”

Saeri said, the corners of her mouth curving upward.

Ryu Won let out a small sigh and stared at the ridge. This whole mess was getting annoying.

In truth, she was just as confused as he was.

Yeon-young clutched the pendant, studying Saeri’s pallid complexion. She moved closer to the video than Ryu Won had.

Saeri wrinkled her nose and smiled when her eyes met Yeon-young’s. Then, once again, Saeri’s hand turned transparent.

This time, she saw it with her own two eyes.

“Chairman, are you sure you’re okay? Is your body…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Saeri raised her index finger to her lips as if she knew.

It was a sign to keep it a secret.

Biting her lower lip, Yeon-young nodded and didn’t speak.

“When you get back from taking care of Branch 4’s business, let’s have a cup of tea together.”

“Sure. Okay.”

Yeon-young thought about her offer and accepted.

It wasn’t such a bad trade-off for the promise of solitude with Saeri.

She slipped the pendant deep into her pocket and took a step back.

“This request is to rescue Sly’s, who is trapped in the Fourth Pillar. Jung Jaeho, report back to me when you know what’s going on with the power outage. Be careful.”

Saeri reached out and fiddled with the screen.

Soon, the screen went completely black, followed by the face of Edelous.

He scratched the back of his head, his brow furrowed slightly in confusion.

“The gate should open now that the Fourth Branch’s Gatekeeper has been authorized to do so, so we can open the teleportation immediately.”

The image in the air vanished as Edelous finished speaking. Jaeho picked up the cube that fell to the ground.

Ryu Won touched the ring to create a new teleport. In the clearing, a pillar of light the size of Yeon-young’s body appeared.

Jaeho jumped into it without hesitation.

“Yeon-young.”

Pawn caught Yeon-young’s step to follow him. He stepped closer to her.

When she crouched down to meet his gaze, he whispered in a low voice.

“I won’t forget your help this time. Thank you.”

Unexpectedly, Yeon-young’s eyes widened and she looked up at Pawn.

His eyes were red as the setting sun, and unlike when she first arrived, they held a kindness in them.

Looking into those eyes warmed her heart like a fire.

Yeon-Young smiled and nodded. Then, with a wave of her hand, she teleported away.

“Huh.”

Stepping out of the teleport, Yeon-young took a deep breath. She took a deep breath and slowly scanned the landscape of Branch 4.

Unlike the rural landscape of Branch 5, Branch 4 had the smell of an exotic city.

There was no farmland to be found, but instead, it was filled with regular skyscrapers.

Neon signs and billboards hung from the exterior walls of the skyscrapers. Fortunately, the buildings were untouched by the Snarl.

“I’d like to visit the other Branches.”

“I’m sure there’s a chance they get together periodically for meetings.”

Most of the buildings were dark in the aftermath of the massive power outage.

It was hard to see any spirits wandering the streets.

Unlike Yeon-young, who craned her head to read the signs on buildings, Ryu Won skillfully navigated his way around.

As Ryu Won approached an unusually tall white building, he heard a familiar voice.

“Ms. Yeon-young!”

“Huh? Ms. Laurendia.”

Ryu Won turned his head and saw Laurendia in a light gray Center uniform in the white building.

It was the first time she’d seen her since the Snarl kidnapping. Her complexion was much better than when she’d seen her in the warehouse.

She ran to Yeon-young and hugged her, her light pink hair flowing like petals.

Yeon-young returned the favor with a beaming smile, extending her arms and hugging her back.

“I came running as soon as I heard you were coming here to volunteer.”

“Are you feeling better now?”

“As you can see, I’m almost back to full strength, except for the snarl that’s holding me back from work.”

“I take it Branch 4 isn’t exactly a breeze?”

The gentle smile faded from her face at the mention of work.

Judging by the ashy shade of color under her forehead, Branch 4 was also paralyzed by workload.

Yeon-young glanced around the white building. One by one, the lights flickered on.

Ryu Won, who had his hands in the pockets of his uniform coat, gently pulled away from Yeon-young and Laurendia.

She naturally moved away from Laurendia. He looked down at Yeon-young and smirked.

“She’s even a girl and I’m jealous.”

“Please. It’s work.”

Laurendia’s eyes widened in disbelief as Yeon-young looked at him in disbelief.

She reached out her hand to shake his. Ryu Won stared blankly at her hand.

“It’s been a while. How are the machines doing?”

“They’re only about 20% restored. We’ve evacuated some of the spirits in case of a Snarl invasion, but if this continues, we’ll have to consider evacuating all of them.”

Laurendia pulled out a notebook from her uniform coat and summarized the status of Branch 4.

Jaeho followed behind them, his face impassive. He had forgotten all of Saeri’s instructions.

Yeon-young turned her head this way and that, searching for the pillars of Branch 4.

“Where is the Pillar of the Fourth Branch? Shouldn’t we rescue Sly first?”

“Let’s go into the center first.”

Laurendia naturally dragged Yeon-young towards the white building they had just come out of.

Upon closer inspection, there was a small sign hanging at the entrance of the building that said [Soul Protection Center: Branch 4].

This was the center building of the fourth branch.

The building was taller and more sophisticated than Branch 1’s building. The exterior walls of the building were white with a bluish tinge, and the width narrowed as it reached the higher floors.

Laurendia smiled as she watched Yeon-young examine the building with curiosity.

“If you go to the rooftop, you’ll have a beautiful view of the Fourth Branch. I’ll show you around later.”

“Okay.”

“I wish you’d move to the Fourth Branch instead.”

“That won’t happen, she’s living with me.”

“Mr. Ryu Won!”

Yeon-young gasped and punched Ryu Won’s arm painfully.

Ryu Won’s lips formed a smooth arc. Laurendia, on the other hand, looked at Yeon-young with a pitying look on her face.

She stood at the entrance to the center and placed her palm on the door. A light rose, scanned her palm, and the door opened.

The inside of the center was similar to that of Branch 1. There was a helpful front desk and elevators on either side.

“Oh, there’s one more employee to help me.”

“Oh, really?”

“Yes, because we recently got a new phantom in Branch 4.”

“Oh, so it’s in Branch 4.”

Ryu Won muttered lowly after hearing Laurendia’s happy voice, apparently he had already heard the news.

Yeon-young’s eyes widened in surprise; a phantom at this time of year was cause for celebration.

Laurendia led them to a common room in the ground floor lobby.

“It’s been a few hundred years since we’ve had a new member of Division Four… When I heard he fell in the woods, I thought I was hallucinating. Ah, there you are.”

She led them further in, past spirits dressed in light gray uniforms like hers.

Laurendia pointed a finger at a table in the corner of the center’s lobby.

There, a man with jet-black hair sat with his back straight.

The back of his head looked unusually round, the line of his neck and shoulders falling neatly below it.

Yeon-young tilted her head to the left, as if recognizing something.

“Woojin.”

Yeon-young’s mouth opened slightly at the familiar name from Laurendia’s lips.

The man who had been staring at the table slowly raised himself to look at her.

She was mesmerized by his mesmerizing black eyes that seemed to suck in all the light.

She called his name without realizing it.

“Sun Woo-jin.”

The cheating ex-boyfriend she’d met before she died stood in front of her, staring at her.
