Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 92
After reading the memories, Yeon-young checked the condition of the rest of the Slys with a fascinated look on her face. None of the Slys were in particularly bad shape.
She clasped her bracelet and calmed the knot in her stomach. Looking at the Slys brought back memories of the temple.
Doubt tugged at her tail. It was as if he was trapped inside Mobius’s belt.
‘Why was Ryu Won doing what he was doing in the temple?’
He couldn’t believe that the one who was supposed to guard and protect the soul was acting like that.
“Maybe I should visit the temple.”
If the temple was a real place, she had every reason to go there.
Perhaps if she read more about the memories it contained, she could discover something else.
Yeon-young, remembered Ryu Won attacking the Slys. Maybe he knew how to get to the temple.
Sprawled out in the field, Jaeho sat up in the suddenly quiet atmosphere.
He walked closer, seeing her deep in thought with a Sly in her arms.
He patted her arm, and her bracelet beeped.
“What is it?”
Shrugging off Jaeho’s question, Yeon-young checked her bracelet. It was from Laurendia.
She tapped the surface of the bracelet with her index finger, and the full text of Laurendia’s message appeared.
[contact me]
Yeon-young still had a day to live, but Laurendia had requested a meeting. I wonder if something happened to her body.
It was probably for the best, Yeon-young thought. She was going to call Laurendia as soon as she got back.
“Ack.”
As she stared blankly at the screen, water suddenly splashed around her bracelet.
She jumped, flailing her arms in the air to shake it off.
Turning her head, she saw Jaeho staring at her with a stern expression.
“What are you doing? You’re soaking me.”
“Did you promise to meet her?”
“It’s an invasion of privacy to read someone’s messages without their permission.”
“You know that?”
Yeon-young shook her head as she watched him admit his crime with such confidence.
This was no one to talk to.
She wiped the water off her bracelet and checked the screen again. Thankfully, the bracelet was very water resistant.
She left a reply to Laurendia, telling her to meet her soon, and watched the Slys pass over the field.
She had a hunch that with a little more time, everyone would be able to get back on track.
She exchanged a quick greeting with the Slys, opened the teleport, and stepped through without hesitation.
Now was the time to meet Laurendia.
* * *
She sent a message back, and Laurendia promptly responded with the news that she was at Branch 1.
Yeon-young barely pushed Jaeho away from her and made her way to the lobby of Branch 1.
The light gray uniform among the black uniforms immediately caught her eye.
Laurendia must have spotted her, too, because she waved. Yeon-Young walked up to her as she sat in the lobby break room. She could smell the faint odor of ammunition.
Laurendia pushed the orange juice on the table toward Yeon-Young.
“I’m a little late.”
“It’s okay, I just got here, too, but why are you out of town at this time?”
“It seemed important, and it helped me clear my head.”
“Hmmm.”
Laurendia gave a small snort and leaned back comfortably in her chair.
She looked a little tired, and a quick glance at her face gave her a rough idea of the state of affairs in Branch Four.
“Things are bad?”
“Half the buildings have been blown away, and the souls are badly damaged.”
“What about potions?”
“The supply is limited, so I don’t think we can rely on them. We’ll need something more substantial.”
“But are you sure it’s okay to come here?”
“I’ll be right back.”
She leaned back in her chair and slowly raised her upper body.
Then she studied Yeon-young’s hands on the table.
Perhaps to check the thread on her pinky finger.
He looked at her petal-like pink hair and opened his mouth.
“Did something happen to my body?”
“No.”
“Then why did you ask to meet?”
“I thought you might have come to a decision, and I thought I owed you an explanation.”
Yeon-young stared into her spring-like eyes, his face full of questions.
Laurendia rubbed her slender fingers over Yeon-young’s pinky.
Her hand twitched at the tickling sensation.
“When you get back to your body, you’ll just have to live your life as a human, you understand that, right?”
“Yes.”
“If you decide to stay here and cut the thread, you will have to give up your human life as Yeon-young Kim.”
“I see.”
Yeon-young nodded her head slightly in understanding.
It was all things she already knew.
Laurendia took a sip of the drink in front of her and cleared her throat. Then she spoke.
“Sweet.”
“What?”
“If you stay here, your abilities will be much more stable than they are now.”
“Stabilized…, in what way?”
“By taking the souls of those bodies and merging them, well…, you’ll be as efficient as anyone else, and less likely to go berserk.”
“So, I’m a little less mutant.”
It was the first she’d heard of it, but it sounded intriguing.
Yeon-young’s eyes lit up like she’d found Pandora’s box.
A steady power without ups and downs. It was one of the things she always craved whenever she read memories.
She had a wider range of abilities than she had when she first came to Tanato, but she still felt limited.
Reading the look in Yeon-young’s eyes, Laurendia gave her a knowing look.
“So, I came to ask if you’ve decided on anything, because if you’re really going to go back to being human, I’ll need to help you tomorrow.”
Laurendia slowly set the can of soda in her hand down on the table.
Perhaps this was her last chance to choose.
Her question made Yeon-young think deeply again.
‘Why should I go back…’
First, Yeon-young thought about why she should go back to being human.
She couldn’t think of anything in particular, except to live a human life.
Now, unlike the first time, she no longer felt secure about being alive.
She chewed on her lower lip and silenced herself once more.
Then she thought about why she should stay here.
‘Money I haven’t spent, a house I haven’t bought, questions about Snarls I haven’t resolved, and a world called Tanato. And a man named Han Ryu Won.’
A lot of things came to her mind.
There was still so much she didn’t know about this world, and it was clear that she was closely intertwined with this mysterious world.
If she will become more capable than she is now… there was so much more to discover and dig into.
‘If only my abilities were more stable.’
At that moment, Yeon-young’s eyes caught sight of the rose-gold communication bracelet Ryu Won had put on her.
The light pink gem in the center of the bracelet sparkled in the sunlight streaming in through the window.
Yeon-young gently stroked it with his index finger.
In that moment, she remembered the time he had handed her this bracelet. Ryu Won had found the thread bracelet broken by the Snarl, and he had immediately made her this one.
“Ah, so…, a bracelet.”
She always wondered why her communication network was a bracelet. She thought it was because she wore a thread bracelet when she died, but in hindsight, that wasn’t the case.
Ryu Won had given her the bracelet in her previous life and in this one because she wanted it.
Yeon-young tightened her fingertips and squeezed the bracelet hard.
‘How could she leave this world behind?’
“Ms. Laurendia.”
“Are you thinking clearly?”
Looking at Yeon-young, whose eyes were as straight as a warriors on the battlefield, Laurendia gave her a small smile.
In response to Laurendia’s question, Yeon-young nodded her head slightly.
“I have work to do here, so I’m not going back.”
“Good. I respect and support you, Yeon-young.”
“Thank you.”
“I knew that, and I brought what’s left of your soul with me.”
Her sincerity made Yeon-young swoon.
Laurendia clasped her hands together on the table, emphasizing that she could not bite again.
This time, Yeon-young didn’t hesitate and nodded once.
After confirming her intentions, Laurendia closed her eyes and muttered something.
A small pale pink light appeared in her hand, and it mingled with Laurendia’s aura.
She could see the warm spring-like energy flowing into Yeon-young’s body.
Eventually, the energy focused on her pinky finger. Her heart sank at the sight.
It was as if someone had turned on a heater just for her pinky finger.
“Uh…”
“Can you feel it?”
For a moment, the voices of the noisy spirits were muffled.
The warmth in her pinky finger seemed to spread through her veins and into her body.
The pulsating energy in her right wrist calmed down without any effort.
Her body felt lighter, and she could see everything in the world clearly. She blinked to adjust to the changes in her body. She could see Laurendia’s pretty face clearly.
“Welcome once again to the world of Tanato, Ms. Yeon-Young.”
Those sweet words made her realize that she had chosen to stay here for good.
