Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 95
Supporting positions.
The image on the conference room’s round table went dark with a loud crackle.
There was silence in the special team’s room.
The image flickered in and out of focus, then slowly began to refocus.
The image showed the three branches. The scenery looked like a vacation resort, but it was all ruined by the Snarl.
In front of the center building was an ocean as blue as Jaeho’s eyes, and the Snarls leapt out of the water to attack the souls.
One by one, they came out, then dozens, then hundreds, covering all three branches.
The souls captured by the Snarls tried to flee, their bodies blackened and molten, but their bodies melted and degenerated into waste.
It was chaos.
“Tsk.”
“Shut up.”
Yeon-young lowered her gaze, frowning at the horrifying sight.
The spirits of all three branches had converged on the Center, working to defend it, even if it meant the fall of half of Branch Three.
The Snarl, who had broken into Branch Three, surveyed its surroundings and disappeared into the sea.
This repeated for several days.
The Snarl army repeatedly invaded each branch, capturing only half of it before retreating.
It was as if the spirits were watching the response.
The figure of Branch Three faded away, revealing spirits in light blue uniforms.
They seemed to be a special team from Branch Three. After a quick check of the reports on the table, Zhaolin stared at the image.
“How’s the damage control going?”
“As you can see, the damage is too extensive to make any progress.”
“Is the center or the pillar operational in its condition?”
“It seems virtually impossible.”
“What is the status of the spirits?”
“The evacuated souls are fine, but the ones that have started to snarl are in poor condition.”
“I’ll have Sly’s powder delivered to Branch One as soon as possible, and I want you to evacuate to Branch One as soon as you’re done, leaving only the necessary personnel behind.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
The video faded out as the faces of Branch Three personnel disappeared.
At dawn today, the Snarl army’s invasion of Branch Three brought all of the special teams back to the Center except Saeri.
Saeri has yet to be released from the infirmary.
As such, Zhaolin has taken over the vacant chairman position of Branch One.
Originally, General Team Leader Ryu Won was supposed to take over Saeri’s duties, but that didn’t happen.
He had threatened to leave the company along with Yeon-young if she did anything weird.
Yeon-young glanced at Ryu Won, who sat next to her.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing.”
“Ms. Yeon-young.”
“What?”
“I’m thinking of making a spicy miso stew for dinner tonight.”
“Oh, really?”
Yeon-young shook her head at his offhand remark.
The other branches were freaking out because the building was falling down, and now they were talking about dinner.
Ryu Won cupped his chin in one hand and thought for a moment. He looked so serious that Yeon-young couldn’t help but stare.
After a while, he looked up and smiled at her. Yeon-young was slightly taken aback by his smile.
“That’s because it’s your favorite Korean food.”
“Ah.”
“Come home early, honey, because I’ll have food on the table and bath water waiting for you.”
“Crazy.”
“Why is Kim Yeon-young your honey?”
“Are you crazy? Are you saying you’re going to quit over this?”
After Yeon-young’s rant, Jaeho and Zhaolin followed with their own sarcastic responses.
Still, Ryu Won looked relaxed, slowly crossing one of his legs and smiling.
Yeon-young looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Ryu Won found the sight endearing and reached out to stroke her soft hair.
“Ms. Yeon-young said you chose me.”
“…….”
“How is that any different from asking me to marry you?”
“No…, that’s….”
Yeon-young’s brow furrowed slightly in frustration.
Of course, Ryu Won had a stake in her choice to stay, but not like this.
Suddenly, she realized why he had been in such a good mood all day.
Jaeho’s eyes lit up when he saw Yeon-young’s lukewarm reaction.
“Kim Yeon-young, what is it? Did you two promise to make a real life together?”
“Promised?”
“Then what was it we talked about on the couch last night?”
“If anyone overhears, they’ll get the wrong idea.”
“Hey, Yeon-young, why don’t you sleep at my place tonight?”
“Shut up, everyone. If you open your mouth any more here, I’ll burn all your hair.”
Ryu Won’s bombshell remarks caused a stir, but Zhaolin cleared the air.
Jaeho took a step back from the fierce Zhaolin.
Yeon-young also remembers Jaeho’s bangs being burned by Zhaolin and keeps quiet.
Only Ryu Won ignored her, tapping his fingers on the table.
Yeon-young checked the reports strewn across the table and collected her thoughts.
“Ms. Zhaolin, is the chairman okay?”
“Honestly, she doesn’t look good.”
Zhaolin replied bluntly to Yeon-young’s question, but her bright orange eyes were slowly turning color with concern.
If she could make a face like that, she must really be in bad shape.
Saeri’s condition had deteriorated rapidly. Her spirit was losing strength, even though she hadn’t had any contact with the Snarl.
She hadn’t seen a single hair on her head since she had vowed to go to the northwest mountains to talk more about Ji Hua.
“It’s difficult to visit, isn’t it?”
“Yes. The reason for the outbreak is unknown, so they seem to be wary.”
“I see.”
She felt even worse, since she had seemed to be getting better until she talked to Yeon-young.
Zhaolin held out the report to Ryu Won and said,
“Senior, please pull out what we need from this and hold it up in the air for us to see.”
Ryu Won shoved his hands into his uniform coat and stared at the stack of papers.
A few papers slipped out of the report and slowly floated into the air.
The one that stood out the most was Lee Daeheon’s face, and when Jaeho saw it, he grew serious.
“Is it because he’s my junior?”
Zhaolin stood up and took the lead in the meeting.
She pointed her finger at Daeheon’s photo.
“First of all, the organization that creates Snarl is called Negro. It is inferred that the head of this Negro is Daeheon Lee. We don’t know exactly why, but it aims to destroy this world.”
“Any reports on their location?”
“No. We have searched all five branches of the organization and have no leads.”
“What is the status of the Snarl army?”
“Exactly twice as many as when we captured Branch Four.”
“Where do you think the next battle will be?”
“Most likely Branch Two, but we can’t be sure because we haven’t gotten any information from the enemy.”
Ryu Won casually asked questions, taking the initiative of the meeting.
Zhaolin answered without hesitation, as if she had all of this in her head.
Staring at the picture of the shy Daeheon, she spoke up again.
“Do you think it’s possible for him to do this on his own?”
It was a reasonable question. As far as Yeon-young was concerned, he couldn’t plan and materialize all of this alone.
Yeon-young remembered the key in her uniform coat again. She had taken several chances to put it back in place, but all of them had failed.
She found herself staring at Ryu Won. Ryu Won was also silent as he looked at the picture of the Great Spirit.
“Knowing the terrain of all five branches intimately, and skillfully concealing key locations. From these two things alone, I suspect there are more behind this.”
“That’s a lot of scope.”
“Yes. We’ll have to round up the officers of the five branches and have a meeting, but it’s safe to say this is a war.”
“Not even humans, war?”
Ryu Won snorted, his face relaxed. It was like an adult watching a child’s mischief.
The paper floated in the air and slowly descended, landing on the table.
Yeon-young organized the papers out of habit.
“We need to be proactive. Senior, please gather the other branch officers as soon as possible. Jung Jaeho, I’ll have you go over the war supplies again, and the youngest, check the emergency exits.”
“You mean the emergency exits, right?”
“Yes. I think Branch One should also prepare for a possible Snarl invasion. If there’s anything wrong, please communicate immediately.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Zhaolin deftly organized the situation and gave each of them short orders.
Yeon-young raised an eyebrow, remembering one bad memory about the emergency exits.
As Zhaolin gathered up her report, Ryu Won and Jaeho rose to their feet.
The seriousness of the matter made them act quickly, even if they were smiling.
Ryu Won clasped Yeon-young’s shoulder and opened the teleport.
“Ms. Yeon-young, don’t forget to come home quickly.”
“Please go.”
Ryu Won laughed out loud at Yeon-young’s unusually strong reaction and stepped into the teleport.
Jaeho was studying the report on the table again, a deep abyss in his eyes.
Yeon-young considered speaking to him, but then turned toward the emergency exit without saying a word.
