Waking up in a hospital bed one day wasn’t particularly surprising. I must’ve had an accident.

Losing part of my memory was understandable too—likely a side effect of the accident. Forgetting that I was married, and even the existence of my husband, now that was a bit of a shock.

But memory loss doesn’t exactly erase things in order of importance, right?

Isn’t this something we all know?

It’s a cliché I’ve seen in media so many times that I’m numb to it.

So when the doctor told me, I even thought, ‘Well, here it comes.’

Living a dull life, I’d always wanted to be the protagonist of a dramatic event at least once.

When I heard my husband was on his way, I was a little excited.

What would he look like?

I hoped he was handsome—but even if he wasn’t, I wouldn’t be disappointed. I must’ve married him for a reason other than looks. After all, looks aren’t everything.

But the moment the “husband” walked through the hospital room door, I was horrified.

Waking up in a hospital bed wasn’t that surprising.

Losing memory of my marriage and husband was understandable.

But—

“Honey, how are you feeling?”

But a tentacle monster in a suit as my husband? It was beyond surprising; completely beyond my understanding!
