I Became The Wife Of The Cursed Grand Duke Chapter 57
The hired hands ebbed and flowed out of the room, bowing as he met their sticky, spine-tingling stares.
Then, as if nothing had ever happened between them, he patted her on the side of the bed.
“Come and lie down. I won’t do anything to you.”
The command, disguised as an invitation, scratched her ears.
She didn’t know if he was angry that she’d gone out without listening to him, or if there was another reason, but he seemed deeply uncomfortable.
‘As if I’ve done something terribly wrong.’
With no strength left to argue with him, Evelyn gave up her stubbornness and headed for the bed.
She turned over with her back to him as he stared at her.
It was a minimum of pride, a very timid protest of being offended.
Then Kalian, waiting for her with one end of the covers lifted, snickered.
“Insistent.”
With those words, silence fell over the bed until they could hear each other’s breathing.
Evelyn swallowed hard in the candle-lit darkness.
There was no way she could sleep under these circumstances.
But Kalian was breathing evenly regardless.
His back was turned, so she couldn’t see his face, but he was already asleep.
“I could use a glass of warm milk.”
After tossing and turning for a while, Evelyn slowly sat up. It was at the same time that she heard a sleepy, unmixed voice.
“How are you feeling?”
As if waiting, he pulled her to him and slashed at her left arm. Evelyn, pinned to his side by the jolts, hid her panic.
“It’s okay now.”
“What about your hand? You said it was hurt.”
He stroked the bandages on Evelyn’s hand.
His large hand felt oddly warm against her skin.
She felt foolish for melting at his crude touch, but it couldn’t be helped.
Evelyn swallowed hard, wanting to lean against him.
“I’m healing well, thanks to your concern.”
She tried to pull her hand away, but he didn’t let go.
Instead, he pressed his lips to her pale temple and spoke bluntly.
“No matter how nice you are, don’t you realize that unfamiliar places are dangerous? I’m sure I told you to be careful.”
He told her to stay in her room and not cause any trouble.
He sighs heavily, remembering his maternal grandfather’s anecdote about being wary of strangers.
His lips, which had been a hot breath on her temple, gradually moved to the side and he nibbled gently on her earlobe.
“So, where else have you been today?”
Evelyn instinctively gripped the hem of his robe tighter, feeling her heart tighten painfully.
With an escort, it would be simple for him to track her whereabouts, but he couldn’t afford to think about that now.
“I had an appointment with Leon.”
He slid his lips along her slender jawline and smiled crookedly, pressing his lips to the nape of her neck.
“Leon?”
“It’s…”
“You call him that affectionately.”
The tone was meant to be reprimanding.
“What business do you have to meet with the Count when he and you have an appointment?”
But Evelyn didn’t understand his sudden tripping over Leon.
She didn’t understand why he was suddenly criticizing the man who cared for her when he was the one who had neglected her.
Evelyn lost the will to argue further and shoved Kalian hard against his chest as he held her still.
“If you want an answer, don’t do this, you told me you weren’t going to do anything.”
His eyes sharpened at Evelyn’s reply.
She didn’t know what touched him so deeply, but she could tell he wasn’t going to leave her alone.
“I lied.”
As usual.
“I guess my patience isn’t as strong as I thought.”
“I’m sure you are.”
He let out a low chuckle as Evelyn shot him an impatient glare.
What was so funny was the hotness of his breath that escaped from the nape of her neck, between her earlobes, in the recesses.
Evelyn tried desperately to remain nonchalant, feeling the heat rising.
“Do you realize how much has been going on in my life? I have so many questions and no one to ask them, and you don’t understand how anxious I must have been, all alone.”
Holding her close, he stroked the back of her head gently and whispered.
“If it was urgent, you should have found Benjamin or me. You think that’s an excuse?”
Quietly, the voice was creepily suggestive.
His eyes and mouth were drawn into an arc, but the coldness in his tone spoke of his discomfort.
“It’s…”
She bit her lower lip as she stammered, and Kalian cupped her small chin and held her gaze.
His gaze was sharp on her face, as if he were checking for the slightest change in her expression.
“Answer me. Or did I trust you that much?”
There was a tone in his voice that she could have mistaken for jealousy.
‘Of course, I know it’s not.’
He’s merely projecting a shallow sense of possessiveness, unwilling to hare with another the very thing that could free him from pain.
Evelyn let out the breath she’d been holding quietly.
“How am I supposed to know where you two are in this vast castle, and besides, the Grand duke is always at her side, so I never see you.”
“You don’t mean you want to make the Count your mistress?”
“What’s that…”
Her words were unfinished. With a slight tilt of his head, he pecked Evelyn’s lips as if he didn’t want to hear the answer.
His hot breath rushed into her mouth in wild waves. His grip on the back of her head tightened, and he thrust his tongue in, his insistence evident as he probed the delicate skin.
A scattering of faint breaths escaped at every opening.
He bit down until his lips tingled and didn’t let go.
Evelyn struggled to break free of his relentless embrace, but it was too much.
He piled on top of her, thrusting like a ravenous beast.
Without giving her time to breathe, he buried his lips in the nape of her neck, leaving erythematous bruises on her delicate skin.
He didn’t seem to have a clear goal in mind, and he wasn’t trying to arouse her. He was just frantically pressing his lips wherever he could.
Biting down a little, rubbing his wet lips together. He tasted her like a Dardidan candy, gently melting and savoring her on the tip of his tongue.
“Ah, uh, please…”
Hot lips descended to the rounded mounds of her breasts.
Then sharp nostrils pressed against her sternum. Evelyn wrapped her arms around him as he licked frantically at her bud.
“Hmph!”
Evelyn bit her lip to stifle a moan. The faint scent of blood drifted through her torn lips and into the air.
Then, after what seemed like an eternity, he finally broke, and their gazes met.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Looking at Kalian, who spoke for her, she pressed against her trembling thighs.
The sensation of wet skin rubbing against wet skin was still there, but she didn’t want to show him that she was moved.
Not out of pride, not out of shame.
“I’m the one who should be angry, but I don’t know why you’re acting like you’re so angry.”
She’s just confused as to what has made him so worked up.
“I’m sorry you think so, for as you say, I have no reason to be angry.”
Tears welled up in her eyes at his casual reply.
After a pause, he lowered his head and kissed her.
The wet friction and sweet moans that followed pierced the silent air.
The sensations that raced through her nerves were so sweet, it was almost intoxicating.
Tears welled up in her eyes because she still liked this man who spoke such hateful words. But Evelyn swallowed all these emotions calmly with impassive eyes.
This only made him more excited, and he pulled her hips closer to him as if he couldn’t wait.
He let her know how aroused he was, and then he plunged his tongue into her frozen cunt, sucking, nibbling, and flicking it around wildly.
Every nerve in her body was on edge, her mind blank and dazed from the unfamiliar stimulation.
“Hmph, that’s enough!”
He had to stop.
What had begun as an unexplained thirst and desire was bound to end in a mutually hurtful way.
“It’s in the contract, you can have a government if you want. You can even give me a fief in the north if you want…”
Aha!
It happened in a flash.
A small, slender hand slapped Kalian’s cheek as hard as it could and pulled away.
Something snapped somewhere in her chest at his words, and she snapped back, her emotions uncontrolled.
“How could you say that?”
She pushed him away, breathing heavily, and looked up at him with wet eyes.
It hadn’t been her intention to include the clause that they could even have a government.
She’d merely asked him to take into account the possible variables when he’d said that not just anyone could conceive a half-human-half-demon seed.
‘If I had known it would cause such a misunderstanding…’
As a terrible silence filled the room, she felt warmth on her back.
“I didn’t mean to upset you.”
He rolled onto his stomach, pulling her into his arms as hard as he could against her ragged breathing.
“But if you didn’t want to be misunderstood, you should have been careful not to be seen being overly intimate with a man.”
