I’m the Only One Who Can Put the Tyrant To Sleep Chapter 122
Unbelievable things kept happening.
Every time I swung my hand, the stone soldiers and everything else Ian had created vanished.
The giant hand that had risen from the ground to hold down the attendants had long since disappeared too.
Even when I wasn’t aware of it, whenever something tried to attack me, it disappeared. It was as if this power was protecting me.
I couldn’t understand what on earth was going on.
“Deputy Handmaiden Chief!”
“This way!”
I quickly reached out my hand toward the stone soldier that was about to attack one of the maids. Before I knew it, everyone inside the walls was relying on me.
But the one who seemed more flustered than anyone else in this situation was none other than Ian.
“This is nonsense…!”
He kept swinging his hand, and each time, countless things appeared. Stones flew at me, and steel ropes tried to bind me.
He must have thought I was activating my power the same way, by moving my hand, and wanted to stop me. But even the ropes, which looked unbreakable, vanished before I could even struggle.
Ian’s face twisted with rage. I had never seen that look on him before. The look of all his plans falling apart.
I waited for him to lose control of his emotions even more.
‘Before this mysterious power disappears, I have to deal with Ian.’
Ian needed to be shaken, more and more agitated. He needed to attack recklessly instead of calculating calmly.
Only then would there be an opening.
I pretended to be relaxed. I acted as though the things coming from his hand didn’t scare me.
“Come behind me!”
And I gathered everyone inside the walls behind my back. Their numbers grew, and maybe to feel even a little safer, they tried to stick close to me. Pressed by the crowd, I naturally began to be pushed forward.
‘Perfect…!’
As if it wasn’t intentional, I moved closer and cheered inwardly.
The restraint tool Katana made had a condition to activate: I had to physically grab the target with my hand.
In short, to capture Ian, I had to close the distance.
If I went up to him openly, he would be on guard. But if I pretended to be pushed forward by people, he wouldn’t notice. And besides, he was already in a frenzy.
The distance shrank bit by bit. Before long, Ian and I were close enough to touch if I stretched out my hand.
“Your power isn’t much after all.”
“What?”
Ian’s brow furrowed at my taunting words.
“Didn’t you say you’d kill us all? Yet nobody seems to be hurt, let alone dead.”
I added more provoking words to rile him up.
“Did you really think you could become emperor with just that little power?”
Ian scowled. Swinging his hand, he shouted as he summoned a massive stone soldier.
“The current emperor is unworthy of the throne.”
“And you’re worthy? You can’t even capture the deputy handmaiden chief of the imperial palace.”
The stone soldiers that had raised huge axes toward me crumbled to dust.
“How dare you…!”
Ian’s whole body shook. Just as he lifted his hand again, in that moment of reckless distraction, I suddenly grabbed his hand.
“What the—!”
At once, the magic bracelet on my wrist flared with a red light. The red bead threaded into the bracelet rolled onto Ian’s hand that I was holding.
The bead began spinning around Ian’s upper body at a speed too fast to see. Then, from his shoulders to below his waist, he was tightly bound in glowing red rope-like strands.
His arms, from his armpits to his fingertips, stuck to his torso with no gaps.
It all happened before Ian could even realize what was going on.
“What—what did you do!”
He struggled to free himself from the ropes, but he couldn’t move a single finger. It looked as if his upper body had turned completely rigid.
“Let me go, now…!”
With his hands sealed, just as I expected, Ian could create nothing. All that filled the air was his furious roar.
“Haa… haa…”
I staggered backward, panting heavily. Then my legs gave out, and I collapsed to the ground.
“…I did it. I… defeated Ian.”
Without realizing it, I muttered, and one of the nearest soldiers shouted.
“Th-the Deputy Handmaiden Chief… she defeated him!”
At the soldier’s words, a cheer spread.
“Waaaaah!”
The garden roared. The cheer was so loud it drowned out Ian’s furious shouts completely.
The servants raised their hands, hugged each other, and shouted for joy. It looked as if they had won a war, when in reality I had only captured Ian.
Sitting among them, I fixed my eyes on Ian.
‘For me to suddenly gain a power of erasure… and at such a moment….’
Because of it, I captured Ian and saved everyone. It could only be called a miracle.
I turned my head toward the black wall that had surrounded us. Then, as if it had been waiting for me, the wall began to vanish.
‘It really seems I’ve gained a power.’
What’s more, it looked like I could erase things just by willing it, without any conditions.
‘Doesn’t that mean it’s even greater than Caesar’s power?’
With excitement on my face, I looked around. Beyond the wall that had disappeared, a group of people came walking.
I jumped up, ready for anything, then relaxed as soon as I realized who they were.
Crossing over the wall were Caesar, Olche, Alvin, and the other knights.
“Your Majesty!”
I ran straight toward Caesar.
“Your Majesty, why… why are you only coming now! Do you know what just happened?!”
The words of complaint spilled out on their own.
“What happened to the alarm system! Ian invaded, you know! Where on earth were you!”
It was far too insolent a tone to be using with the emperor, but since everyone was still shaken from what just happened, no one paid it any mind.
“Eve.”
“I went through so much… why are you smiling?”
I stopped talking and looked at Caesar. I had expected him to be worried or apologetic, but instead, his face was lit up with a broad smile.
“Eve, I knew you could do it.”
“…What?”
“You captured him. You saved everyone. Isn’t that right?”
“Well, that’s true, but…”
I just blinked at him.
‘What’s with this calm attitude?’
“Alvin.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Caesar pointed at Ian and gave an order.
“Take him to the palace. I will interrogate him personally.”
“Yes, Your Majesty!”
Alvin and the other knights seized Ian on both sides. His mouth spewed curses, but nobody paid them attention.
Because the victory cheers and the shouts of my name drowned him out completely. Caesar looked on proudly, then gave me a nod.
“Let’s go, Eve.”
“Huh? Ah… yes.”
With an untroubled expression, Caesar walked toward the palace. Following behind, I couldn’t shake off my unease.
For someone who had only just arrived, Caesar seemed far too composed.
As if he already knew Ian had appeared, that we had been trapped inside the wall, and that I had bound him.
‘That can’t be….’
Caesar had been outside the wall. How could he know everything? If he really had known, he would have rushed in before anyone else to help me.
‘What did he mean by “I knew you could do it”? Even I never imagined I’d suddenly gain an erasure power… Wait.’
I froze mid-step. A suspicion struck me. Memories of Caesar’s strange behavior one by one resurfaced.
Him breaking schedule to slip outside the palace. Alvin’s testimony about him finding the palace’s blueprints. The secretive missions Olche and Katana had kept from me. His strangely calm demeanor despite knowing Ian would attack.
“Your Majesty.”
I grabbed Caesar’s sleeve. He turned back to me with a smiling face.
Looking at him, I felt certain. It was Caesar who had orchestrated all of this.
“You did it on purpose, didn’t you?”
“What do you mean?”
“All of it. Everything…”
I muttered helplessly, and Caesar just shrugged.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Haa…”
A sigh slipped out of me. Of course.
There was no way I had suddenly gained some power of erasure. Thinking it had passed to me because I was a Guide, or even imagining it might be greater than Caesar’s own power—those ridiculous thoughts made my face flush.
“Why? Why would you—”
“Eve.”
Caesar cut me off, gently taking the hand that clutched his sleeve.
“Let’s talk later. For now, let’s go.”
“I…”
I started to protest, but shut my mouth. From our joined hands, I could feel his pulse—uncontainable joy, happiness.
‘Unbelievable….’
Led by Caesar’s hand, I walked on, and a small laugh escaped me.
So what. Ian had been captured, no one had died, and even if I didn’t know the reason, Caesar was this happy.
It all worked out in the end.
