In the end, I found nothing in the unlocked room with a rumbling heart.

It was just one of the unlocked rooms, no different from a safe room.

There was nothing.

With this, I gave up the idea that all the unlocked rooms would have hints.

I knew that the system was trying to make me suffer.

Or maybe it was because I didn’t look around properly.

I admitted that I was scared and couldn’t search thoroughly. I didn’t want to stay in that dizzying space filled with flesh and blood for too long.

My top priority was to escape.

If it really wants to tell me the stories, there will come a day when I can find hints or some kind of quest.

There might be something I’m missing, but…

That place is really damned scary, for real.

There’s still the flesh and blood of the criminal all over the place. I didn’t want to go back there again.

And I can’t rule out the possibility that it could be a trap.

It was actually dangerous.

I can’t tell if that was intentional or not…

I have to be careful to survive.

Purple Princess is tired now.

At the end of the cold, dark hallway, the small noises disappeared and a heavy silence flowed.

It was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.

Thump, thump…

The sound of our two footsteps on the marble was particularly loud.

Aren’t all the monsters going to flock to us, this way?

“Holloway, say something.”

There’s nothing like talking to shake off the fear.

“Sister, watch your legs.”

“Huh? Don’t say things like that.”

By asking you to talk, I didn’t mean to ask you to scare me.

Although I tried to brush it off, Holloway muttered quietly.

“It’s not just a joke, though…”

“Then… Whew!”

Someone grabbed my ankle and pulled me forward, causing me to fall forward.

I hit my face hard on the floor and a sharp pain came over me.

Holloway patted the back of my head as I held my nose and groaned.

“I told you to watch your legs, didn’t I?”

“…”

Who would have thought it was true?

I was so close to tears. Holloway stopped when he saw me like that, then narrowed his eyes when he saw the blood on my nose.

“Are you okay? Ah, no. Your nose is bleeding.”

[Holloway feels a little regret, ‘I should have stopped it.’]

Even a little regret is something…

He’s the kind of person who would laugh it off even if I were bleeding from both nostrils, yet seeing him regret it means we’ve come a long way.

He said earlier that he wouldn’t blink even if a single hair of mine was hurt, but I guess his mind has changed again.

Well, even humans change their minds dozens of times a day, so what’s the difference for a demon who only pursues pleasure?

Holloway supported me as I stood up, but this time, something grabbed my feet and pulled me.

“Ugh!”

“…Why is it like that.”

A faint annoyance came out of Holloway’s voice.

I couldn’t stand up because something invisible grabbed my feet, so I couldn’t look at Holloway.

—Xixi. Xixixi…

Who, who laughed.

A warm sensation was felt on my ankle along with the laughter.

A faint flame rose from my ankle and then subsided.

“W-What…”

—Let’s go, let’s go. Let’s take her.

“No, no. Go alone.”

“…Pfft.”

Holloway looked serious, then lowered his head and trembled, holding back laughter.

But the monster wasn’t patient enough to wait for such small talk.

—Let’s go!

At that moment, the smile disappeared from Holloway’s face.

The moment he reached out his hand to the invisible monster trying to drag me away, flames suddenly shot up and attacked Holloway.

“…”

Holloway narrowed his eyes for a moment at the flames on his hand, then made eye contact with me and shook his hand wildly.

“Fire… Sister!”

“C-Come here!”

I took off my cardigan to put out the flames on Holloway’s hand, but I couldn’t take it off properly because the monster kept grabbing my ankle and dragging me.

“Damn it, Holloway, get in a room and into the bathroom…”

I shouted urgently and then stopped.

This monster, now, attacked Holloway.

Even though it was a show, the monster that had never attacked Holloway before clearly blew fire at him.

I couldn’t see it, so I couldn’t tell if the monster was flustered…

A mistake? A mistake, right?

There was no way the monsters would attack Holloway.

One of the only rules these monsters had wasn’t to touch the demons here, including Holloway.

Before I could properly look, something quickly pulled me down along with a hot flame rising from under my feet.

There was nothing on the smooth marble floor to hold onto and keep me from being dragged.

“Hol…! KYAAAAH!”

“Sister!”

Holloway reached out, yet his fingertips barely touched mine, and I was sucked down by something.

It happened in an instant.

I opened my eyes to the burning pain, and saw a clear palm print on my ankle.

It felt hot, like a burn, yet it didn’t look that bad.

My ankles were throbbing as they were grabbed so hard. When I staggered to my feet, a fire blazed near my neck.

“Kyaah!”

I stumbled back in surprise, tripped on something, and fell on my butt.

“Ugh!”

It was definitely dark, but a darker shadow covered me. I couldn’t even think of looking up at the big thing.

Thud, splat.

It fell exactly along my knees…

That thing, which was stuck to me like flesh, weakly slid down my knee and fell to the floor.

Thud, thud.

The continuous falling pieces of flesh were now enough to cover my legs.

I swallowed dryly.

Something you shouldn’t do in a horror movie.

‘…Don’t wonder.’

What is this, what’s on top of my head?

I fumbled and tried to pull my body back.

A hand with only bones attached to it suddenly grabbed my hand.

I fell backwards and came face to face with something looking down at me.

The skin that had been burned was melting. The white bones were visible between the red face and the flowing flesh.

—Xixi… Xixi…

A long tongue was visible between the lips that stretched all the way to the tip of the ear. It licked my cheek with that tongue.

“Hieeekh……!”

I could feel the texture of the tongue with its protrusions clearly on my cheek.

The voice of that thing that was laughing at me as I was terrified was hoarse, like scraping iron.

—Y-You, right? M-My body, fire… Xixi…

His body shook slightly as he couldn’t hold back his laughter while speaking, and a chunk of flesh fell on my face.

My lips trembled at the soft, hot chunk of flesh.

“N-No…”

—It’s hot… It’s so hot…

“T-This can’t be happening…”

—…

[‘Burnt Monster’ is unexpectedly hit by your words!]

How can I endure it when you’re saying such cliché lines?

And can the monster really take a hit just for stealing its usual line?

Then I can argue with you like a dog.

[‘Burnt Monster’ is paralyzed for about 10 seconds.]

This has happened countless times in the beginning.

In particular, I didn’t sit in fear for long after I came back from the brink of death.

My face hardened and I started shouting hallelujah, yet my legs were steadily running away from the ghost.

“Huft, huft…”

[The ‘Burnt Monster’ returns to its original state.]

[=͟͟͞͞ =͟͟͞͞ =ヘ( ´Д`)ノDanger!!]

[It spots you and starts chasing you! Hurry up and hide in a nearby room!]

N-Nearby room?

I turned on the map and looked inside the hotel.

Led by that monster, I was now in the lobby on the first floor.

And now, my location was under the three-branched, ornate staircase leading up to the upper floor.

I mean, I was right under the middle landing of the three staircases.

“A room where I can hide…”

At that moment, a red dot under the landing blinked quickly.

The door sign was drawn on it, so I felt something ominous, so I tried to run to another room, yet there was a thud and the monster’s voice split into three.

—Can’t escape, hihi! Hihi!

—My flesh is melting… You must disappear, you too!

—You must disappear!

KWAAAGH!

A scream that felt like it was going to tear and compressed air rushed straight at me, piercing my stomach.

The intense pain made it impossible for me to breathe for a moment.

“Augh!”

My body floated in the air and crashed into the wall.

No, I flew along with the door right behind me. There must have been stairs leading down, so I rolled down.

My entire body screamed for help.

My body, falling down the stairs, didn’t stop.

—I-I have to escape!

At that moment, I heard the voice of a monster terrified, and soon I saw the broken door being recreated.

Was it because it was darker than the hotel?

The faint light that was coming in created pitch-black darkness through the closed door without any gaps.

I fell just like that, unable to overcome the speed, and after hitting the wall, I immediately passed out.

Ah… How many times have I fainted?

Before I lost consciousness, I saw a child through my blood-stained vision.

If it was a child here…

“…Holloway?”

He walked away from me as if he didn’t hear my faint voice.
