My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 23 - Dochun’s About to Blow Up
“Hnngh…”
It had been an hour since Eunsae entered the room with Sanchez.
The baby looked at Belquior once, then at the door Eunsae had disappeared through.
Ssh, ssh. Baekhap nudged a rattle toward the baby with her head.
But the toy only held the baby’s attention for a moment before they grew sulky again.
Without Eunsae, they didn’t feel like playing or eating.
Belquior glanced at the baby. His large hand gently covered the baby’s eyes.
“If you’re sleepy, sleep.”
“Ma! Bwoo, bwooa!”
Smack smack. The baby slapped Belquior’s hand fiercely. That wasn’t what they wanted.
“Do you want to eat, then?”
Belquior started rummaging through the bag Eunsae had brought.
“Hnnngh! Dyadada…”
The baby resisted with their whole body. Eat? Without Eunsae? As if. That’s what the baby seemed to say.
“So clingy. What a handful.”
Belquior didn’t know how to care for the baby as smoothly as Eunsae did. He considered using magic to lull them to sleep, but instead, calmly explained the situation.
“She’s gone to get rid of the curse inside her.”
“…”
“She won’t take long. You’d prefer her not to be sick, wouldn’t you?”
The baby pouted. They didn’t understand the words, but it was clear Eunsae wouldn’t be back for a while.
The baby weakly shook the rattle. Then slowly drifted off to sleep.
Belquior’s gaze remained fixed on the door Eunsae had passed through.
‘What are they doing in there…’
It was taking longer than expected. Not being able to see inside made time drag even more.
Crash!
“All done!”
Belquior stood up smoothly. His gaze locked straight on Sanchez’s back.
“Wow, wow. Not even a ‘thanks for your hard work’ before checking on your mate?”
“Thanks for your hard work.”
“I’d rather die than hear that like this. Anyway, the curse is fully broken. Not even a single hair damaged.”
Belquior entered the room Sanchez had come from. Eunsae was collapsed unconscious on the carpeted floor.
Belquior’s eyes instantly sharpened.
“She really is okay?”
“I told you, didn’t I? Check if you want.”
He placed a hand on Eunsae’s forehead. Golden magic glowed and sank into her body without resistance.
“…She’s clean.”
“What do you take my skills for? So, what’s my payment?”
Sanchez leaned back in her chair, grinning. With dragon dealings, payment was a serious matter.
“What do you want?”
“The land of Amacis on the Western Continent. Give me that.”
Belquior furrowed his brows slightly.
“What are you going to do with that land?”
“What else? Build an awesome villa. I wanna spend my later years relaxing with my kind somewhere scenic.”
It wasn’t even for anything dramatic.
“Take it.”
“Ooh, so cool of you.”
Sanchez wiggled with excitement. Belquior gently lifted Eunsae in his arms.
There was no point staying here longer—he’d only end up hearing more nonsense.
“You’re leaving already? It’ll take some time before she wakes up.”
“There are no side effects, right?”
“Of course, of course. Ah—though she might’ve developed a bit of curse resistance.”
“That’s… actually good.”
With one arm around Eunsae, the other cradling the baby, Belquior also carefully gathered her magical beast.
“Wow… You really do look like a dad right now.”
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
Sanchez followed him out to the front of the lair. She crossed her arms and leaned against the wall.
“Belquior. Don’t wait too long.”
“For what?”
“Human lives are short. You should realize it sooner rather than later.”
Belquior didn’t answer. Sanchez suddenly remembered something.
“Oh, right. There are rumors going around lately about dragon slayers on the move.”
“Dragon slayers?”
Dragon Slayers—heroes and warriors in human history. They were sworn enemies of dragons, who had long lived carefree but were now becoming targets.
“They’re still just humans.”
“Well, apparently there’s a demigod among them, so it’s been a headache… Just letting you know. Safe travels!”
That was the extent of the send-off. Belquior teleported to the place where the World Tree stood.
[Is the girl okay now?]
At the voice echoing in his mind, Belquior nodded.
“I’ll leave right away. It’s easier to cross worlds while she’s unconscious.”
[Bring her back again sometime, if there’s a chance.]
The World Tree rustled its branches. Belquior set the destination for Eunsae’s home.
****
As the magic faded, Belquior stood in the backyard of Eunsae’s house.
From inside, he could sense multiple unfamiliar presences.
“Gasp!”
Hunters from the Dochun Guild, who had rushed over in alarm at the sudden wave of intense energy, froze in shock upon seeing Belquior—and Eunsae limp in his arms.
First, they were speechless at Belquior’s appearance, which didn’t look human in the slightest.
Second, they were stunned to see the S-rank hunter Yoo Eunsae unconscious and powerless.
And on top of that—what was with the baby?
“Wh-Who are you…?”
“I should be asking that of you.”
“I’m Park Doyoon, A-rank hunter of the Dochun Guild. And who are you?”
Pushing through the frozen guild members, Park Doyoon stepped forward, sharpening his senses and keeping a wary eye on the stranger.
“That’s enough. Step aside. This child needs to rest.”
“Did you do that to Hunter Yoo Eunsae?”
“You’d best confirm that with your leader.”
Without giving them another glance, Belquior entered the house.
One of the stunned guild members practically leapt toward Park Doyoon.
“Wh-What should we do, Hunter Park Doyoon?”
“Hold on.”
He called Vice Guildmaster Choi Mirinae, who was acting in place of Han Woori during her business trip abroad.
Thinking it was an emergency, he reported quickly—but Mirinae’s response wasn’t what he expected.
Her voice came through the phone, full of emotion.
—“Really? Eunsae’s back?”
“Uh… yes. Should we subdue him?”
—“No, it’s fine. Leave them alone. Withdraw. Good work.”
The call ended with a click. Park Doyoon stared blankly at the phone before shaking his head and turning to the others.
“We’re pulling out.”
“Huh? We’re leaving Hunter Yoo Eunsae like that?”
“Those were the Vice Guildmaster’s orders.”
As the guild members withdrew from Eunsae’s home, puzzled expressions covered their faces.
Who was that? Why did he seem so close to Yoo Eunsae?
Why would the Vice Guildmaster just let him be?
Was there a hunter like that in Korea? Wait, was that even a human face?
Now that they’d turned away, they couldn’t even remember what he looked like…
Only that he had seemed to glow.
Sensing the guild members’ departure, Belquior laid Eunsae and the baby gently on the bed.
Baekhap curled up in one corner.
He brushed Eunsae’s fallen hair back. Her pale, peaceful face…
“Mate…”
Was it because she was his mate that he couldn’t bring himself to be firm with her?
That she felt so naturally familiar, as though she had always been a part of his life?
Then, an irritating presence stirred outside. Belquior stepped out.
The figure had concealed their presence well—but they couldn’t fool a dragon’s eyes.
Belquior released a wave of pressure.
“I told you to leave. If you continue lurking around here, I won’t hold back.”
The intruder flinched.
As Belquior’s golden eyes fixed on a single point, the hidden figure quickly retreated from the area.
Hunter Im Iseok, who had been ordered by Guildmaster Baek Chanmin to watch Eunsae’s house, was shaken.
No way. Hunter Yoo Eunsae has a man? And a child too?!
That man was anything but ordinary. He could see through stealth—and the pressure he gave off was immense.
If Im Iseok had held his ground, there would’ve definitely been trouble. His survival instinct had saved him.
An S-rank hunter? Someone that powerful had been hiding all this time?
His mind was flooded with questions. He stepped away from the area and, with trembling hands, pulled out his phone.
—“What is it?”
It was Vice Guildmaster Yuk Jaehee.
Im Iseok, his voice low and quick, reported what he had witnessed.
“There was… a man with Hunter Yoo Eunsae. He’s not anyone we know, but he’s clearly no ordinary person.”
—“What?”
“And… they’re raising a child. I’ll send you photos.”
After sending the photos, Im Iseok imagined the media frenzy this could cause.
Just how bold had that man been?
“Dochun’s about to blow up.”
****
A Chinese hunter from their side, Tang Lihua, swung her whip.
The magical beast, with a monkey-like face, clearly spotted legs like a leopard’s, and a long snake-like tail, let out a sharp, high-pitched screech.
Yoo Gilseon shouted,
“Zhou Weirong! Don’t let it get away!”
Hunter Zhou Weirong, who had strengthened his body through special abilities, shot forward like a cannonball and struck the beast from behind.
Yuha’s arrows flew through the air and lodged into the creature’s massive body with thudding sounds.
The magical beast resisted until the very end.
Hunter Qing Chenhua slashed at its body with dual swords.
In the meantime, I bloomed a black lotus and bound its limbs.
Sol’s flaming spear pierced through the beast’s chest.
The creature howled in pain.
Then the ice crystals created by Hunter Jin Aso delivered the final blow, cutting off its breath for good.
The hunters, breathing heavily, kept their eyes on the beast’s corpse for a while longer.
Finally, with a loud thud, the enormous beast collapsed.
Cheers erupted.
After 82 hours, the S++-rank dungeon had been conquered.
The hunters, who had pushed through on barely any sleep, looked visibly relieved.
We walked up to Yoo Gilseon and reached out our hands.
Yoo Gilseon smiled and shook ours.
“Great work. That was an impressive performance.”
“Guildmaster Han Woori, you acquired a new technique, didn’t you? That was a truly fitting show of skill for Korea’s top-ranked hunter.”
The hunters exited the dungeon. Yoo Gilseon and I took part in interviews with the press as representatives.
After two full days of rest, on the third day, a celebration party was held to commemorate the successful raid.
The Dochun Guild members, all dressed to the nines from head to toe, arrived at the hotel owned by the Qinghua Guild.
Sol, dressed in a beautiful gown, ignored everyone trying to talk to her and focused only on sampling the food at the banquet.
Next to her, Yuha kept nagging about where she was even putting all that food—but it was no use.
As I sipped champagne, Yoo Gilseon and Jin Aso approached.
Hiding any signs of boredom, I put on the perfectly polished smile I’d learned as the child of a chaebol family.
“Are you enjoying the party?”
“Thanks to your hospitality, we certainly are.”
They chatted about international affairs and current dungeon-related issues.
Then, Yoo Gilseon suddenly asked a question.
“Did you know there’s a magical beast egg listed in the raid reward items?”
