My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 38 - You’re Wearing Something Different from When You Left

Author: Asternkm

The Dochun Guild, under the Dochun Group, hosted “Hunter’s Night” in collaboration with the Korean Hunter Association. The news quickly spread far and wide through the media.

[Anonymous Board] What even is Hunter’s Night?
Is it just a party where they gather all the Hunters?
Kinda sucks for non-Hunters to be left out like this.

“Why are you throwing a whole party just to introduce Bomi?”

Eunsae, who had just returned from the department store with Sol, grumbled at us. We looked up—and were surprised to see she was dressed differently than when she left.

She wasn’t in her usual casual clothes but wearing a formal dress. The beige one-piece with frilled collar and tightly spaced buttons suited her black hair well.

Even though it was standard attire for the secretary team, seeing Eunsae in it made our hearts skip a beat for some reason.
Still, we didn’t show it.

“Why the formal dress? Weren’t you out to buy something for the party?”

“Sol told me to dress up a bit since we were already out. Is it too much?”

“No, it looks good. But I still prefer your usual look.”

“Yeah? Me too. It’s just more comfortable.”

Eunsae smiled warmly at our kind words.

Right then, Sol cut in obnoxiously between the two of us.

“Hey! What about me?”

“You… should probably tone it down a bit.”

We shifted our gaze to Sol and grimaced.

True to her nickname “Crimson Flame Empress,”

Sol had fiery red hair and wore a flashy red one-piece that reached her knees.

Seeing the gem-like flower petals attached at the chest and waist, we spoke with disbelief.

“Are you supposed to be a rose?”

“So you think I look elegant? Gil-jjang, you’ve got an eye for this!”

“Cut the crap… You’re not seriously planning to wear that to the party, are you? Call your styling team.”

We went serious. Sol started striking poses in front of the office mirror.

“No way! I had LEDs custom-installed in this dress. I’ve always wanted to try it, but you kept stopping me, so now’s my chance—”

“Call Namgoong Sol’s styling team. Now.”

—Understood.

“Hey!”

We cut her off and pressed the button to connect with the secretary. Sol yelled in frustration.

We gave her a suspicious look.

“You did help Eunsae pick her outfit properly, right?”

“Don’t look at me like that. I picked from the list recommended by the VIP stylist.”

“Still not buying it. I want to see the list.”

“How can someone that distrustful hold that position?”

“It’s you I don’t trust. What was that, LEDs? Don’t even think about it.”

Eunsae watched us and Sol bicker with a content smile. Same as always.

They fought like enemies every time they met, but in truth, they were partners with deep camaraderie. In the dungeon, no one matched their teamwork.

Eunsae casually had thoughts that would’ve made the two shudder if they knew.

When the argument calmed down— more precisely, when we noticed Eunsae’s gaze and hung our heads in embarrassment—
Eunsae spoke up again.

“Back to the original question—why are you throwing a party?”

“Two birds with one stone. We’re introducing Bomi, and if we can scout some talent too, that’s a bonus.”

“Sounds like you’ve got your priorities reversed.”

We shook our head.

“No. You’re the one who turned down the White House invitation, remember?”

Originally, Mirinae and we had planned to introduce Bomi at a banquet hosted by the U.S. President. But Eunsae refused, saying Bomi was too young and might be scared in that kind of setting.

Sol, lounging on the sofa with her legs crossed, smirked.

“Don’t stress it too much, Eunsae. Don’t you know Han woori’s scale? He’s a rich kid, after all.”

“Whether I’m a rich kid or not, what are you going to do about your complete lack of fashion sense? Instead of talking about Eunsae, you should go get some basic fashion education.”

“Why me?! I want the freedom to dress how I want!”

Sol jumped up and shouted. As the two were about to go at it again, Eunsae quietly slipped out of the guild leader’s office.

Once we and Sol got heated, we didn’t notice anything else. We probably wouldn’t even realize Eunsae had left until much later.

Eunsae stepped out of the guild and was about to head straight to Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, riding Dodari. But she was wearing a skirt and didn’t know how best to sit.

Just then, A-rank hunter Bae Jinhyuk, who had stepped outside, spotted her and spoke.

“Excuse me, Hunter Yoo Eunsae?”

“Yes?”

“Would you like to borrow a jacket?”

“Oh, that’d be really helpful… but I’d feel bad.”

Eunsae looked flustered.

“It’s fine. Just return it later.”

Bae Jinhyuk wasn’t about to miss a chance to get closer to her. He had brought the jacket simply because it was cold inside the building.

But now he thanked himself a hundred times for bringing it.

“Thank you.”

“No problem.”

Bae Jinhyuk lowered his slightly flushed face.
Eunsae said she’d return it after washing it and tied the jacket around her waist.

Squeak!

Dodari took off. Eunsae hurried it along, worried about Byeol and Bomi at home.

Bae Jinhyuk watched them fly off for a while.

“You did great, Dodari!”

She hugged Dodari’s neck for the effort.

Sensing her presence, Byeol opened the front door and toddled out.

He was still wearing the little suit she dressed him in earlier— a white shirt, brown plaid suspenders, and a loosely tied ribbon around his neck.

“Nuna! You’re back!”

Beep!

Byeol, imitating a scene from his picture book, brought his hands together over his belly and bowed.

One of the suspender straps slipped off his shoulder, and with his heavy head tipping him backward, he looked ridiculously cute.

Bomi flew happily around Eunsae.

Overwhelmed by the cuteness of the two, Eunsae scooped them up and rubbed her cheeks against them.

The soft, warm feel of the child and the young beast melted away all the stress from being dragged around by Sol.

“Did you wait for me, Bomi and Byeol? Did you play nice without fighting?”

“Yesss.”

Beep beep—

With Eunsae petting them, Byeol and Bomi beamed in delight.

“You’re back.”

“Lord Belquior, I’m home!”

Eunsae entered the living room with a big smile. Belquior gave her a slightly unreadable look. His golden eyes paused on her outfit.

“Your clothes are different from when you left.”

“Oh, there’s an event in a few days. I bought some clothes for it today.”

“I see.”

Normally, Eunsae preferred comfortable clothes.

It made sense, since she had to care for beasts and Byeol.

She wasn’t that interested in dressing up, but her looks shone even in just a plain white tee and jeans.

Though she herself wasn’t really aware of that.

He had seen that kind of dress in her closet before, but this was the first time seeing her actually wear it.

It gave him a strange feeling.

But something was bothering him.

“That jacket—does it belong to you?”

“No, I borrowed it.”

The brown jacket carried another person’s scent, not Eunsae’s. Belquior frowned, as if noticing a stain on something pristine.

Eunsae looked puzzled by his reaction.

“Uh… does it look that bad?”

The jacket Bae Jinhyuk had lent her didn’t really match the dress, being quite casual in style.

Still, Eunsae didn’t think it looked that off, but seeing his expression, she quickly untied it from her waist.

As the jacket fell away from her body, Belquior’s expression relaxed.

“That’s fine. You should return it quickly.”

“Yes! I told him I’d wash it and return it.”

“Did it really need to be washed?”

He frowned again. Why must it pass through her hands?

“Uh… I’ll return it as soon as I can.”

Is he in a bad mood today?

Eunsae tilted her head, puzzled by Belquior’s odd behavior, but still answered obediently.
