My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 37 - The Blooming of Bomi
Beep beep.
Eunsae scratched Bom’s chin while holding Byeol with one arm. She gently scolded Bom with a soft voice.
“Bom, you already ate a lot. You shouldn’t be greedy for your friend’s food.”
Bomi purred happily. It seemed like she didn’t care at all about what Eunsae was saying.
Byeol huffed.
“Nuna’s talking to you…!”
“She’s just too young, Byeol. Let’s try to understand her, okay?”
Beep!
Bomi was cheerful—almost too cheerful.
Having already forgotten about eyeing the milk, Bomi fluttered off and jumped into the ball pit set up in the corner of the living room.
Although she looked like a species similar to a bovine, Bomi could fly through the air like fluttering cherry blossoms.
As Bomi twisted her body this way and that, the balls flew in all directions. Byeol used magic to float the pastel-colored balls rolling across the floor.
Byeol put his hands on his chubby hips.
“You! Why are you making such a mess?”
Beep beep?
Eunsae couldn’t help but burst out laughing. When she did, both Byeol and Bomi turned to look at her.
Byeol ran over and peeked up at Eunsae’s face.
“Nuna, why are you laughing? Are you happy?”
“Because you’re being so sweet, and Bomi is just too cute. Do you want to go in and play too?”
“…Yes!”
Eunsae lifted Byeol up and tucked her under her arm. Then she stepped into the ball pit with her.
At first, Byeol was paying attention to Eunsae, but soon she was fully absorbed in tumbling around and playing with Bomi. The living room quickly became a mess.
Belquior watched the scene quietly.
****
As she said before, Bomi was excessively cheerful.
“Where’s Bomi?”
Since morning, there was no sign of Bomi. She needed to be fed, so Eunsae worriedly searched all around the house.
Beep beep!
“There you are? I told you not to wander around like that.”
Bomi’s cry came from the backyard. Eunsae quickly put on her shoes and ran outside.
Bomi was sitting and resting on a branch of the Mini World Tree, where fresh green leaves were sprouting. Eunsae held out her hand.
“Come here, Bomi. Aren’t you hungry? You usually ask for food every two hours.”
Beep-
Thinking Eunsae was playing, Bomi beamed and climbed even higher. Just out of reach.
How many times did that same thing repeat?
“Oh, come on.”
Bomi’s fluffy tail swayed gently. That meant she was having the time of her life.
Wondering what to do, Eunsae pulled some chicken jerky out of her pocket and waved it temptingly.
“This looks so yummy. It’s Bomi’s favorite snack, right? Yum yum. Should I just eat it all myself?”
Beep!
Bomi darted down like a flash. Eunsae caught the soft, warm baby beast in her arms.
“Gotcha, you little rascal!”
Still holding Bomi, Eunsae went back inside and fed her some milk. Belquior, who had somehow become the house cook, set food down on the table and said to Eunsae,
“If she gets hungry, she’ll show up on her own. Just leave her be.”
“She’s still a baby. It’s not even that hard—just making sure she gets fed.”
“Nuna, Byeol is a baby too……”
“Yeah, our Byeol is just a little one.”
Eunsae buried her nose into Byeol’s fluffy hair and rubbed her face into it. Blushing, Byeol smiled happily.
Eunsae spent the morning watching an origami tutorial and was shocked when she saw the time. Was it already that late?
Her sewing skills were still terrible. The lovingly made comfort doll still looked like a beaten-up soldier.
She could barely sew buttons on. So she went with origami instead. They said it was good for developing fine motor skills in kids like Byeol.
“Where did Bomi go again?”
It was oddly quiet. She checked that Byeol was napping on the bed, and there was no need to worry about the other beasts.
Only with Bomi did she need to keep eyes on her at all times to feel at ease.
“Bomi, where are you?”
“…….”
“Bomi?”
No matter how much she called, there was no response. A bad feeling rose in Eunsae’s chest. She ran around the house.
“Bomi!”
She remembered the cloaked person with stealth ability who had taken a photo of Belquior while hiding from A-rank hunter Park Do-yoon of the Dochun Guild.
Could it be them again? Eunsae expanded her senses. But she didn’t detect anything nearby.
She couldn’t sense Bomi either. Frantically, Eunsae pulled a whistle from her pocket space.
BEEEEEP!
A loud whistle echoed through the mountains and fields. It was a signal calling the beasts.
The first to arrive was Dodari. The bird-dragon with iridescent feathers looked worried when it saw Eunsae’s pale face.
Next came Sky, Dandelion, Cookie, Jojjo, and others. Eunsae, distressed, asked them,
“Guys, Bomi’s gone. Have you seen her?”
The beasts looked at each other. Kkuku? Grrr. Maa. Puff puff.
All gave negative answers. Eunsae bit her thumbnail anxiously. People always said kids disappeared the moment you looked away, and it was true.
Byeol had never caused a problem like this before, which made it even more confusing. Maybe it was because Byeol stuck to her like glue and Bomi was still too young to be properly tamed.
“Let’s find Bomi first. Everyone, check around the area!”
The beasts quickly scattered. Eunsae was about to check where Bomi might have gone, when suddenly Belquior was behind her.
“What’s wrong?”
“Lord Belquior! Bomi’s missing. Have you seen her?”
He paused for a moment, then shook his head. Eunsae rushed off in a hurry.
Time was running out.
“That beast seemed to like flowers.”
“Flowers?”
Belquior offered a quiet hint. A memory of Bomi nibbling flowers in the garden flashed through Eunsae’s mind.
“Ah! Thank you!”
Eunsae sprinted off to a few places that came to mind.
Just like she had earlier, Belquior spread his senses. Somewhere in the mountains, a small yet brilliant life force was pulsing.
“There won’t be any big problems.”
Meanwhile, Bomi had followed a fluttering butterfly and gotten lost.
Beep beep?
She called for Eunsae but heard no answer. Her small head tilted back and forth.
She had never been apart before, so she didn’t even understand the idea of being “alone.” She didn’t cry or panic.
Her sunny personality helped too.
Bomi sat in the grass to rest. Then a sweet scent made her jump to her feet.
After flying about ten minutes, she found a place full of things she liked—sweet and delicious.
Beep beep!
Overjoyed, Bomi bounded around and rolled in the flower field. She was getting hungry anyway, so this was perfect.
Bees buzzing nearby became alert at Bomi’s sudden intrusion. But Bomi’s “Affinity with Nature” trait calmed their anger.
Unaware of how worried Eunsae was, Bomi peacefully munched on flowers. Her tiny belly puffed out.
After playing for a long while, Bomi started to miss Eunsae. But where was she supposed to go?
Trees blocked the way on all sides. Byeol and the other beasts weren’t around either.
Only then did fear begin to creep in. Bomi didn’t know which way was home.
Beeeeep…
Her ears drooped. The world outside the house was too big and wide for little Bomi.
That’s when she heard rustling in the grass. Could it be Eunsae? Bomi’s face lit up.
But what appeared was a vicious-looking wild boar. It had noticed Bomi intruding on its territory and let out a fierce cry.
Grronk!
Bomi jumped in surprise. It was her first time meeting someone who was hostile toward her. She’d always been safe in a warm, gentle world.
Beep beep!
Bomi tried to show she meant no harm. But the boar just snorted, stomping its feet.
It charged. Bomi fluttered into the air. Shocked to be attacked when she hadn’t done anything, she let out a distressed cry. She tried to communicate somehow.
But the boar only got angrier. The little thing buzzing around and squeaking softly was nothing more than an intruder.
Bomi didn’t know what to do in a situation like this. She couldn’t leave, but she also couldn’t fight back. She hovered nearby, flustered.
Soon, exhausted, Bomi climbed a tree.
Thud!
The boar slammed into the tree.
Thud!
Again. Leaves shook and Bomi wobbled. She trembled in fear—something she had never felt before.
Beeeeep!
Bomi’s desperate cry echoed through the Gangwon mountains. Eunsae, who had expanded her senses, heard it.
“Bomi!”
Beep beep!
As soon as she saw Eunsae’s familiar face, tears welled up in Bomi’s big eyes. She quickly flew into her arms.
The boar’s rage turned fully toward Eunsae. Just before it could charge at her, Bomi spread her tail wide like a fan.
BEEEEEP—!
It sounded like she was saying, Stop!
A wave of pink light spread from Bomi.
Flowering vines sprouted beneath the boar’s feet, wrapping tightly around it. Grronk! The boar, now hanging upside down, let out a muffled cry.
Shocked by the sight, Eunsae asked urgently,
“Bomi, did you just use your ability?”
Beep beep?
Bomi looked completely clueless. She had probably used her power instinctively because she sensed her protector was in danger.
Chuntian De Yaoqing’s power was related to plant manipulation. She could make any flower or tree bloom or wither, whether it was healing or poisonous.
In China, she was even called the divine beast of Hua Tuo.
Hearing Bomi’s cry too, Eunsae’s other beasts came running. They licked Bomi’s face with worried expressions.
“Hmm. Let’s let the boar go for now.”
Eunsae gently coaxed Bomi into releasing the boar. Dodari chased it far away.
Grronk! the boar left with a single pitiful cry. Chuckling awkwardly, Eunsae stroked Bomi’s chin, who still looked shaken.
“Bomi, how was your first trip outside?”
Beep beep…
Bomi was exhausted. She squirmed and curled up in Eunsae’s arms.
“I hope only good memories remain. It’s okay now, it’s okay.”
Just like she did with Byeol, Eunsae rocked Bomi gently. It was enough that she was found safe.
“Let’s go home now.”
And with that, the half-day incident came to an end.
