My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 47 - Daejeon Dungeon Break
Eunsae headed straight to the guild without stopping by her house. Before they left, she asked Belquior, “What will you do?” and after a brief moment of thought, he answered that he would come along.
Eunsae found it strange that he wanted to come, but in the end, the same group that went to the UK arrived at the Docheon Guild building in Samseong-dong, Gangnam.
Including the security personnel, the number of people Eunsae had brought was quite large.
“Eunsae, sorry for calling you in right after you landed in Korea.”
Our faces didn’t look too good as we met in the guild master’s office. The guild was quiet, perhaps because the first wave of hunters had already been dispatched.
The ones running around answering urgent phone calls were all office staff.
“Team Leader Park Doyoon and your team have worked hard…”
We turned our heads and flinched when we saw Belquior standing there, holding Byeol and Bomi in his arms. He urgently signaled to Eunsae with his eyes.
‘Why is he here?!’
Eunsae shook her head.
‘I don’t know either.’
She was just as confused about why he came. This was Belquior’s first time at the Docheon Guild. Maybe something changed in him after the UK trip.
Even though he noticed their silent exchange, Belquior kept a calm expression as he looked around.
He had been observing ever since he stepped into the building. This was Eunsae’s workplace.
Until now, he hadn’t paid much attention to her surroundings, but meeting Stella had piqued his curiosity.
Stella Vaughn, who claimed to hear the voice of the stars. To Belquior, that was an incredibly rare ability for a human to possess.
Such powers were usually reserved for dragons, beings who governed nature.
Come to think of it, Eunsae’s abilities were also among the rare kind. Were there more like her in this world?
We were bothered by Belquior’s presence but tried to ignore him. Park Doyoon and his team were watching.
If the guild master showed he was too conscious of the outsider, it could undermine his authority. At the very least, we wanted to maintain dignity in front of others.
It was just petty male pride. Pretending Belquior didn’t exist was the best we could do.
Eunsae pushed the conversation forward.
“What exactly is going on? A dungeon break?”
“You’d better see for yourself.”
We played a video on a tablet. It was a live news broadcast.
[…Monsters from the dungeon are destroying buildings and attacking people! Hunters from Daejeon and other parts of the country are working together to stop them, but each monster is at least A-rank, so the damage is severe. This is the first time an A-rank or higher dungeon has occurred in the Daejeon area, and the estimated scale of the damage is…]
Behind the reporter, dust and debris flew through the air. Explosions, screams of the injured, and collapsing buildings filled the screen.
Eunsae’s expression turned grim.
‘Is this the great storm Stella mentioned?’
Probably not. Realistically, a dungeon break, while serious, wasn’t something that could threaten the world itself.
It was rare, but not unheard of.
“A dungeon break in Daejeon, huh. That’s something.”
“Right?”
Daejeon had long been called a peaceful city, even before the age of upheaval.
It remained that way afterward. Daejeon-born hunters were so laid-back that it was a well-known joke in the hunter community.
Some even complained about teaming up with them, saying it was frustrating.
If something happened, they’d crack a typical Chungcheong-do style joke like, “If it was that urgent, you should’ve caught it yesterday.”
We turned off the video and spoke to Eunsae again.
“Anyway, can you head to Daejeon now? With Team Park?”
“You’re in such a rush? Didn’t all the needed people already go?”
“The dungeon’s structure is a maze.”
“Ah, that explains it…”
Eunsae quickly understood. An S+ rank maze-type dungeon. No one knew what could be waiting inside, so anyone capable of entering was being sent in.
Eunsae started mentally listing what she’d need.
She’d need trap-detection items, plenty of potions since Mirinae wasn’t with her, food for several days inside the dungeon, and extra gear.
“Sol, Mirinae, Inchan, and Yuha went ahead, right?”
“They’ve already entered the maze. You might not be able to meet them.”
“OK. Then I’ll move with Team Leader Doyoon.”
After confirming with us, Eunsae turned around.
“What about you, Belquior? I think I need to head straight to Daejeon.”
Everyone flinched as if someone had just said Voldemort’s name.
Hunter Yoo Eunsae, why would you ask something like that?! Seo Horang screamed internally.
Belquior answered as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
“I’ll come with you.”
“Did you enjoy your UK trip? You’ve been outside for a long time, which is rare.”
Unaware of what the others were thinking, Eunsae smiled brightly. Belquior, staring at her, furrowed his brows.
“I have a bad feeling.”
“…!”
We and Eunsae exchanged glances. Belquior wasn’t just anyone.
He was a dragon, a top-tier being from the other world. Stella had also acknowledged his noble and mystical nature.
His words, especially the ominous ones, couldn’t be taken lightly.
Hearing their conversation, we grabbed our weapons.
“Eunsae, I should go too.”
“Hmm… didn’t you have a reason for staying behind?”
“There’s pressure coming from China. The government’s been complaining a lot. Once we enter the dungeon, we’ll be out of touch for days, so we can’t respond immediately if something happens.”
“Then it’s fine. Belquior will be with us.”
Byeol, who was in Eunsae’s arms, raised her little arm.
[Noona! Byeol’s going too!]
“That’s right! We’ve got Byeol with us too!”
Since it was a telepathic message, only Eunsae heard it. The rest of us and Team Doyoon didn’t understand why Eunsae suddenly hugged Byeol.
Beep!
Bomi, wanting to be included, poked her head between Eunsae and Byeol. Eunsae tightly hugged both children, savoring their warm, soft embrace.
A moment later, Eunsae led the group out of the guild master’s office.
“We’ll be off, guys! Take care of our house monsters while we’re gone.”
“Don’t worry.”
With somber faces, we waved to see them off. Eunsae wanted to say the same back—don’t worry.
As she ordered the necessary supplies from the Hunter Support Team on her phone, she clapped her hands together.
‘Ah, I forgot to tell them Stella’s message.’
There were too many eyes around now. She’d remember to report it when she got back. If something happened in the future, her friends needed to know.
They had to talk, and prepare.
Once ready, Eunsae, Belquior, and Team Park stood in front of the Dochun Guild building.
“How are we getting there?”
Park Doyoon asked. Seo Horang silently prayed—please, not in that monster cage again, not like last time with Dodari.
“Dodari will carry us. It’s the fastest way.”
“I’d rather run!”
Without realizing it, Seo Horang yelled. The nightmare was coming back.
The trip from the airport to the guild building had nearly killed him. Sure, Dodari was faster and safer.
Especially in a dungeon break emergency. But Seo Horang had a fear of heights.
Eunsae tilted her head and asked,
“You’re going to run all that way?”
“No, Hunter Yoo Eunsae. Moving quickly is best.”
“Ughbubb… Team Leader!”
Park Doyoon clamped his hand over Seo Horang’s pale mouth and stepped into the monster cage where Haneuli was already waiting. The rest of the team followed.
There was some scuffling between them. But in the end, the youngest member was subdued by the others.
Forget “youngest on top.” Seo Horang’s eyes welled with tears.
Eunsae let out a soft laugh and climbed onto Dodari’s back. Belquior, Byeol, and Bomi were already on.
“We’re heading out!”
Kku kku!
Dodari, now in adult form, let out a long cry. It was five hours before the team would enter the S+ rank maze dungeon in Daejeon.
****
The area where the Daejeon dungeon break occurred— Countless hunters were tangled in battle with the monsters. Among them, the ones showing the most outstanding performance were the trio from the Gold Star Guild.
Baek Chanmin, who had taken the front line, swung a greatsword wrapped in lightning.
Kiiieeek—!
The AA-rank monster Tranquilina blocked the strike with its hook-shaped forelegs.
“Tch.”
As Baek Chanmin clicked his tongue and stepped back, Yuk Jaehee charged in from behind and unleashed blades of wind. The monster’s clear, insect-like wings were shredded.
Kang Heesoo, who had been waiting, aimed for Tranquilina’s back and thrust a power-infused sword. But the monster, with its wide field of vision, dodged the attack.
Kraaaargh!
The enraged Tranquilina let out a fear-inducing roar. The wide, powerful burst of fear mixed into the air and pressed down on the hunters like a weight.
Lower-ranked hunters trembled in terror and got injured.
Kiieek!
As the monster twisted its body, the road was torn apart and buildings were destroyed. Baek Chanmin narrowly dodged the falling debris, clicking his tongue again.
“So annoying!”
He swung his greatsword, unleashing a massive thunderstorm. Lightning poured from the sky and swept through the area.
Not only was Tranquilina struck, but so were some hunters who couldn’t dodge in time.
Still, no one blamed Baek Chanmin. In a disaster-level dungeon break, everyone had to protect their own life.
Hunters whispered among themselves as they looked at the scorched Tranquilina.
“Wow, as expected of the Lightning Emperor…”
“S-ranks really are different. Didn’t the Gold Star Guild take down more than half the monsters here?”
“Yeah. But how did they get here so fast? Dochun Guild hasn’t even arrived yet.”
The only reason Daejeon hadn’t completely fallen into despair was because of the Gold Star Guild. They had arrived shortly after the A-rank and higher monsters began pouring out of the dungeon.
From afar, Sol flew in on the Crimson Flame Dragon and spotted Baek Chanmin, Yuk Jaehee, and Kang Heesoo. She yelled at the top of her lungs.
“What the heck! How did you guys get here so fast?”
