My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 54 - Can You Follow Along?

Author: Asternkm

Cheon Chang-hyun had deliberately suggested to Guildmaster Baek Chan-min that they funnel points to the support-type Hunters with special skills.
That was the best strategy to clear this maze dungeon efficiently.

In particular, Baek Yeon-ah possessed a rare ability called “Weakness Detection.”

Even without directly joining the fight, if she used her skill to identify a beast’s weak point, the system still recognized it as a valid contribution.

He was exploiting a loophole in the system.

On top of that, each time they advanced to a new stage, Cheon Chang-hyun triggered hidden quests that others couldn’t easily find, earning even more points.

When Team B — Ducheon’s side — became the “King” and stole points from Baek Chan-min and Yuk Jae-hee, it was also Cheon Chang-hyun who restored them.

It was no wonder Baek Chan-min found Cheon Chang-hyun so fascinating. He moved as if he already knew the dungeon’s every secret.

However, things shifted once Yoo Eun-sae appeared. He had expected some disruption, but not to this degree. The results were far beyond his predictions.

He could understand why Baek Chan-min was so furious. A deep wrinkle formed between Cheon Chang-hyun’s brows.

At this rate, Yoo Eun-sae’s team would be the first to gather a million points and clear the dungeon. That was something he absolutely couldn’t allow. To stop it—

He had to clear this stage with the highest score possible.

In the current Hansel and Gretel stage, killing the witch who owned the “candy house” granted bonus points. But the witch only appeared if they achieved a top score first.

Kieeek!

Another swarm of beasts surged toward the fallen ones. The monsters bared their sharp teeth, aiming for Cheon Chang-hyun, who was isolated from the others.

Cheon Chang-hyun’s eyes gleamed as he looked up at the beasts, gripping his uniquely shaped sword tightly.
He would not lose — no matter what.

[Noona! I got caught in the spiderweb!]

Beep!

“Sky! Help the kids!”

Sky leaped up and rescued Byeol and Bomi, who were tangled in the trap.

Grrr. Rrrr.

Sky licked the children quickly, as if asking if they were okay. Byeol and Bomi giggled innocently.

Eun-sae rushed over, checking them anxiously.

“Are you two alright? Byeol, Bomi, you mustn’t leave my side—or Lord Belquior’s.”

[But I wanna help Noona too!]

Beep—

“Okay. When I really need help, I’ll definitely ask you. Promise?”

[Okaay……]

Maybe not Bomi, but Byeol had actually done a fair bit to help. Still, since Park Do-yoon’s team was so capable—and Belquior always stepped in at the crucial moments—their efforts often went unnoticed.

Byeol glared at Belquior. This is all because Dad showed up!

“What are you looking at?”

Belquior asked as Byeol scowled at him.

[Hmph. I’ll become a greater dragon than you, Dad.]

No one knew what that was about. Belquior glanced at Byeol for an explanation, but the little one puffed up and turned away stubbornly.

“Phew. Was that the last trap we had to disarm?”

Eun-sae wiped the sweat from her forehead. The deeper they went, the crazier the traps became.

Massive rock walls shot up from the ground, and hail suddenly rained down from the sky.

Earlier, the floor had dropped out beneath them, turning into a huge slide—Eun-sae had almost screamed. Thankfully, it hadn’t been an attack.

If an attack had followed while they were off guard, it could’ve been disastrous.

Ding!

Just as the group finished disarming the last trap and preparing their gear, a system window appeared before them.

[Hunters, three paths lie ahead. Which will you choose?]

“Looks like a new stage. Hmm, which way should we go?”

“Straight ahead! We have to go straight, Hunter Yoo Eun-sae!”

“Seo Ho-rang, you’re awfully talkative today.”

“T-Team Leader! Please hear me out! I have a good reason!”

Seo Ho-rang raised his hand excitedly, only for Park Do-yoon to scold him. Even while caught in a playful headlock, Ho-rang stubbornly pointed straight down the middle path, insisting they go that way.

Seeing his enthusiasm, Eun-sae just shrugged and chose the middle road.

Park Do-yoon scratched his cheek awkwardly.

“Hunter Yoo Eun-sae, you don’t have to take everything this guy says so seriously.”

“Well, we have to pick some path anyway. There must be a reason Seo Ho-rang’s so sure.”

“Exactly! Statistically, in games, the middle path usually—!”

[You’ve chosen Stage B! The theme of this stage is… drumroll… the Haunted House!]

Boom!

The blocked passage opened, revealing a chilling scene. The once-bright sky turned blood-red.

Before them stood a crumbling old mansion. A faint wailing sound echoed somewhere—Uuuh…

It was broad daylight, yet suddenly it felt like night. Seo Ho-rang’s eyes darted around nervously.

“…I thought this path would be easier… Hahaha, why a haunted house all of a sudden…?”

He wilted instantly. The atmosphere practically screamed “undead monsters ahead.”

Beep beep!

[Noona……]

Startled, Bomi darted behind Eun-sae. Byeol clung to her clothes, eyes trembling.

“It’s okay. We’re all together—there’s nothing to be afraid of.”

As she comforted the children, Eun-sae thought for a moment. Undead monsters, huh? They’d need special abilities to fight those.

She turned to the long-haired blonde woman behind her.

“Hunter Elena Kim, you have a holy-attribute skill, right?”

“Yes. But… I’m not sure I can handle it alone.”

Elena Kim looked worried. The previous stages had already been tough enough, and this one looked even harder—especially if undead were involved.

“Hmm. It should be fine. Can you take the lead?”

“I’ll do my best.”

At Eun-sae’s words, Elena Kim nodded. It would’ve been difficult for her alone, but thankfully, Belquior and Byeol were there. Eun-sae glanced at Belquior, then turned to Byeol.

Right now, Belquior was disguised as a fire-type mage, so Eun-sae planned to rely on Byeol instead.

“Byeol, we’re about to face undead monsters.”

[Those wrinkly ones, right? Dad taught me about them!]

“Can you cast purification magic or maybe a protective barrier?”

[Yes! I’ll make sure those undead monsters can’t even get close to you or the humans, Noona!]

“Good. Watch how Hunter Elena Kim does it, and do what you can, okay?”

Eun-sae gave Belquior a look — a silent request to help Byeol if things got rough. Understanding immediately, Belquior nodded faintly.

“Alright, let’s move.”

Following Elena Kim, the group entered the eerie mansion. Creak—slam! The heavy gate clanged shut behind them, cutting off their escape.

“Gyaaaah! Mom!”

Seo Ho-rang screamed, flailing wildly. His teammates looked at him with the resigned pity one reserves for hopeless fools.

“Dodaeri, Sky — go assist Hunter Elena Kim.”

Coo.

Grrr.

At Eun-sae’s command, Dodaeri and Sky took their positions at Elena Kim’s sides. Elena Kim hung sacred charms around the beasts’ necks.

The party tensed, senses sharp. No one knew when or where the monsters would appear.

Then, Elena Kim, sensing the undead’s presence ahead, shouted:

“Skeletons incoming!”

Clack-clack-clack-clack!

The sound of bones rattling echoed through the hall. From the central staircase, skeletal soldiers came pouring down. Eun-sae twirled the Veil Caras staff around her wrist.

“System! This time, we just have to fight, right?”

[Who knows? (๑❛ڡ❛๑)☆]

“Hey! Don’t dodge the question! You’re making me nervous!”

The system avoided giving a straight answer. Great. That means there’s a catch.
Eun-sae frowned but charged toward the skeletons.

They snapped their jaws and lunged at her.

Dodaeri and Sky dove into their midst, scattering the fragile bones everywhere.

But the bones clattered back together, reforming like magnets.

Clack, clack!

The sound was unnervingly eerie.

“Hunter Elena Kim!”

“Holy Light!”

At Eun-sae’s shout, Elena Kim activated her skill. Holy radiance washed over the skeletal soldiers. They melted away like ice in sunlight.

Elena Kim followed up with arrows of purification. Each one struck true, toppling more skeletons. But there were too many—she couldn’t keep up alone.

Park Do-yoon and the others joined in, sprinkling holy water they’d prepared before entering the dungeon. Any skeleton whose head was crushed stayed down, but it took effort.

Eun-sae glanced around, then called out:

“What’s your cooldown time?”

“About eight minutes!”

That was too long. Considering the pace of battle, Elena Kim couldn’t handle this alone.

No choice, then.

“Byeol, that skill Elena Kim just used—can you copy it?”

Byeol hesitated at her question.

[Umm……]

To be honest, holy-attribute magic was tricky. Unlike other elements, it couldn’t be used so easily.

Unless one was like Belquior, who had mastered all forms of magic, even dragons like Byeol—born with the “Dragon of Beginning” trait—had to meet certain conditions to use it.

But since Noona wanted it… Byeol was determined to make it work, no matter what.
