The day after visiting the police station. Eun-sae was on the phone with Sol. Sol was grumbling angrily on the other end.

“The yard. I promised to take Byeol and Bom out to look at the stars. Belquior and the security team are coming too.”

Sol let out a deep sigh.

Eun-sae hung up and went into the living room. Byeol came running over and clung to Eun-sae’s leg.

Byeol wiggled his bottom and hurried outside. Eun-sae followed behind him with a smile.

When she went into the yard, preparations for the meal were already underway. They were planning to have a barbecue while looking at the stars.

The monsters, Belquior, and Team Park Do-yoon, who were on security duty, were all helping each other prepare.

At Oh Jong-hwan’s teasing remark, Eun-sae played along.

Eun-sae and Oh Jong-hwan covered their mouths and giggled. It was just a silly little joke, but it was fun.

Eun-sae went over to Belquior, who was sitting at the long table. He was making barbecue sauce and finger food.

Byeol had asked to eat the food he had tried at the Docheon Group anniversary ceremony again, so Belquior was making it.

The child stayed right beside Belquior, chattering about what the food he had eaten was like.

“That one, you know. It was crispy and sweet!”

“What was used as the topping?”

“Umm, it was something like jam. Was it apple or grape? It was like that! And there was something fresh and soft too!”

“Was it something like this?”

“Yes!”

Even without a recipe, Belquior easily recreated the food from Byeol’s simple description.

Impressed, Eun-sae picked up a sandwich and took a bite. It was a simple sandwich with crisp lettuce, ham, and cheese between slices of bread spread with jam, but it was delicious.

Seeing Belquior making barbecue sauce, Eun-sae said,

“I like spicy sauce when I eat barbecue.”

Without saying a word, Belquior pointed at a sauce he had already made. He had made it separately to suit Eun-sae’s taste. The bright red sauce looked spicy even just by looking at it.

“Woooow. Sir Belquior’s special spicy sauce!”

“I don’t understand why you like something like that.”

“Koreans eat spicy food when they’re sad, when they’re depressed, and even when something good happens.”

“……?”

“It’s tradition.”

Eun-sae was joking. But Belquior didn’t take it as a joke. He couldn’t believe there was such a strange tradition.

A little later, all the barbecue preparations were finished. The people who had been scattered around slowly gathered in one place.

Park Do-yoon lit the fire in the grill and placed the griddle on top. Once the griddle had heated up, Belquior neatly placed pork neck steaks and seasoned skewers on it.

He also grilled onions, sausages, and king oyster mushrooms on one side. The fresh shrimp gradually turned red.

The sizzling smell of meat cooking spread through the yard. The food grilling beautifully made everyone’s mouths water.

Elena Kim handed Eun-sae a pair of wooden chopsticks and said,

“I think looking at the stars is just an extra. Eating seems to be the main purpose.”

“But the monsters and Byeol are really happy about it.”

Eun-sae’s monsters lay flat on their stomachs in the yard and looked up at the sky. The weather was clear, so the stars scattered across the sky were easy to see.

Byeol hopped up and down because he wanted to look through the telescope, but he wasn’t tall enough.

Cookie grabbed Byeol’s clothes with his mouth and lifted him up. Dangling in the air, Byeol excitedly shouted, “Waaah!”

Holding the telescope with his small hands, Byeol looked through the lens and raised his voice.

“Nuna! It’s so amazing!”

“Yeah. Isn’t it pretty? Is it sparkling like your name, Byeol?”

“My name…… My name is Byeol! The name Nuna gave me!”

It was sparkling this much! I’m sparkling! Byeol giggled and held his chubby cheeks in his hands.

“The meat is ready.”

Belquior put large pieces of meat onto a plate and handed it to Eun-sae. She licked her lips.

Eun-sae called the monsters lying in the yard.

“Okay, let’s eat first and look at the stars afterward.”

There were so many mouths to feed that no matter how much meat they grilled, it wasn’t enough. The pork neck and seasoned skewers grilling on the griddle disappeared in an instant.

The monsters and Team Park Do-yoon had enormous appetites. Since they were all very active, they could eat an extraordinary amount.

While taking care of Byeol and Bom, Eun-sae noticed that Belquior had barely eaten anything.

Seeing him doing nothing but grilling meat, she put meat, green onion salad, and ssamjang into a lettuce wrap and brought it to Belquior’s mouth.
