Correction Chapter 4
“Congratulations on passing the exam.”
Shinwoo was the first to run over and pat Jungmin and Youngmin’s heads upon hearing the news of their acceptance. Perhaps it was because he had awakened as an Alpha. Shinwoo had grown several inches taller in the past few months, his shoulders had broadened, his voice had deepened, and he had become undeniably… handsome.
“Shinwoo hyung, you’re an Alpha, right?”
Jungmin asked Shinwoo as the three of them ate together to celebrate their passing the exam. Shinwoo scratched his cheek.
“Yeah. That’s how it turned out. You two will awaken soon, too.”
Jungmin’s heart pounded at Shinwoo’s kind smile.
“What… what do you think we’ll awaken as?”
“Well… only God knows that.”
“But you must have some feeling about it, Hyung.”
“Hmm… I think… Youngmin will be an Omega, and Jungmin, I think you’ll be an Alpha.”
Jungmin’s hand, which was cutting the steak, stopped at his smiling words.
“Ah, no way! I hate Omegas. I want to be an Alpha. But Jungmin does seem like an Alpha.”
Jungmin felt a tightness in his chest at Youngmin’s agreement, but he tried to compose himself, swallowing hard. After a few seconds, Jungmin slowly shook his head.
“No, I’ll be an Omega.”
“Really? How do you know?”
Because that’s what I’m hoping for.
I’ll be an Omega, Hyung. And I’ll be your Omega.
“Well, it would be nice if Jungmin was an Omega. You’ll definitely be popular.”
“Huh? Shinwoo hyung! What about me? What about me?”
Youngmin pressed himself close to Shinwoo and asked. Shinwoo stroked Youngmin’s hair with an even gentler smile.
“You too, you’ll be popular too.”
They were the same words, but the underlying meaning felt different. Jungmin organized his increasingly negative thoughts. Yes, it’s okay. Nothing has been decided yet.
“Shinwoo hyung.”
“Yeah?”
After entering high school, Shinwoo often came over to help Youngmin, who was struggling with the unexpectedly demanding classes. Jungmin, looking at Youngmin, who would fall asleep after only 30 minutes of studying, with a mixture of exasperation and amusement, studied diligently as Shinwoo taught him. While doing so, he would steal little moments with Shinwoo, secretly asking him questions he was curious about.
“Hyung, will you marry an Omega?”
“Hmm… I guess that’s how it will be, right?”
People of the same secondary gender felt an instinctive aversion to each other and couldn’t marry, and although they could occasionally marry Betas, most of those couples didn’t last long. So, it had become the established order of this world for Alphas and Omegas to marry, regardless of whether they were male or female.
“It’s okay… even if they’re a man, right?”
Shinwoo glanced at Youngmin at Jungmin’s question. Aware of the glance, Jungmin deliberately looked away. If it was okay for it to be a man… then he, too, had hope.
“Of course. If it’s the Omega I love, it doesn’t matter if they’re a man or a woman.”
That’s a relief. He didn’t specifically say Youngmin, right? No, he couldn’t have. Youngmin hasn’t awakened yet.
“Then, Hyung, what are your family plans?”
“Family plans?”
“Yeah! Ah, how many kids?”
“Family plans already? Hmm, I haven’t thought about it… But I like big families. The more kids, the better. At least three?”
“That many?”
“I’m an only child. That’s why I’ve always envied you two.”
“There’s nothing good about it.”
“You can say that because you have Youngmin. I really envy you two.”
Three… no, he wants more than that. Let’s say five. That means he’ll have to have children for at least 10 years, right? It’s better to have them when you’re young, so if he starts in his early 20s, 10 years… he’ll be over 30. It’s okay. I don’t have anything I want to do anyway. Yeah, I’d rather have Hyung’s children. Five. Five… It’ll be bustling and chaotic, but it will be nice.
Hyung will surely be a good father.
“What are you smiling about?”
Shinwoo asked, stroking Jungmin’s hair.
“It’s nothing, Shinwoo hyung.”
I won’t give Hyung to Youngmin. Hyung is my Alpha. I’ll definitely become an Omega and have lots of Hyung’s children. I’ll make your dream come true, Hyung.
Jungmin made up his mind. He believed God had also made up his mind.
As they adjusted to high school, the day of awakening approached, and physical changes began to appear in the twins.
Youngmin’s features became more delicate, while Jungmin’s became more rugged. Youngmin’s height stopped at 170cm, but Jungmin’s surpassed 176cm and continued to grow. Jungmin was scared and afraid of this. He was afraid he would surpass Shinwoo’s height of 184cm.
He thought it would be useless to be tall and masculine even if he awakened as an Omega. Thinking he needed to be a pretty boy, at least like Youngmin, he secretly dieted, worked out, and took care of his skin. It got to the point where Youngmin would borrow Jungmin’s cosmetics.
That’s how much Jungmin took care of himself. Since the school was liberal and allowed any hairstyle, he found a style that suited him and wore it, and he diligently took his vitamins. However, he didn’t drink milk, which could make him taller, and instead, he lifted heavy things, trying to suppress his rapidly growing height.
Thanks to this, his height stopped at 180cm, and he was relieved, but he felt disgusted looking at his drastically changed self. The cute appearance of his childhood was gone, and a grown young man stood in front of the mirror. On the other hand, Youngmin retained his cuteness, his pretty voice… and his loveliness, growing up truly beautifully.
How could they be so different despite being identical twins? Jungmin sighed more and more often. He thought he would have to take even better care of himself if he awakened as an Omega. And he thought he’d have to learn cooking, housekeeping, and all sorts of things. Shinwoo’s ideal type was a ‘wise wife, good mother’ type. He said he would earn all the money, so he wanted a partner who would warmly support him and his home.
Youngmin couldn’t cook and had no dexterity at all. That was the one thing Jungmin could boast about. Jungmin was good at sewing and could cook quite well. Although there were three housekeepers at home, he had been going in and out of the kitchen since middle school, making various dishes with them, and the housekeepers always praised his deft hands.
That was one of Jungmin’s greatest prides and joys. The preparations were all complete. He just needed the awakening fever to come, Jungmin thought. Then, Shinwoo hyung would see him differently.
But even as the year changed, the twins didn’t awaken. While their family and Youngmin weren’t worried at all, Jungmin was anxious. Why wasn’t the awakening fever coming? In the end, he even resorted to researching by rummaging through books in the school library. It would be really troublesome if he ended up as a Beta.
Or would it be better than being an Alpha? Being a Beta… Maybe it would be better to be a Beta…
“Hello.”
Someone knocked on the desk and greeted Jungmin, who was reading a book in the library. When Jungmin looked up, a male student he had never seen before was standing there.
He was a handsome student, enough to draw the attention of all the girls in the library. He smiled and greeted Jungmin.
“Ah, hello.”
“If this seat is free, can I sit here?”
He’s polite. But why here…?
Looking around, Jungmin realized the only empty seat was next to him.
“Ah, yes….”
Jungmin moved his bag from the chair, and the man… no, the handsome student thanked him and sat down, taking a book out of his bag.
A first-year textbook… Only then did Jungmin realize that the boy in front of him was a junior. It felt like just yesterday that he had entered this school, and he already had juniors. Time really flies.
“Shin Jungmin… Sunbae, right?”
“Yes?”
Jungmin was surprised when his junior said his name. He wondered if they knew each other, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t recognize the face.
“Ah, you probably don’t know me. But I know you, Sunbae. I was your junior in elementary, middle, and now high school.”
“Oh, really? I’m sorry.”
“You can speak informally. I’m your junior.”
“Ah… Okay… I will.”
“And it’s natural that you don’t know me. And it’s also natural that I know you. You, Sunbae Youngmin Shin, and Sunbae Shinwoo Yoo were really famous. Didn’t you know everyone looked up to you as the Three Musketeers?”
I didn’t know. The time we three spent together was so happy that… I didn’t care about other people’s gazes. It was to the point where even the one-year age difference felt frustrating.
“A lot of people were interested in you. Me too.”
“Really…? I didn’t know.”
Even if he said he knew him, Jungmin didn’t know him. So he felt somewhat uncomfortable. Jungmin closed the book he was reading and got up from his seat.
“My name is Kim Joohwan, Jungmin sunbae.”
