The scene changed, and the point of view shifted. This time, it was inside a dark room.

“S-Spare me.” A cadet, tied up with ropes to a chair, pleaded. “Spare me. I was wong…” His pronunciation was muffled due to the gag in his mouth. Nonetheless, he pleaded with all his might to the man standing in front of him, back turned. The man was caressing a giant canvas.

“Spare me. Pleas. Pleas.”

The man slowly turned around. His platinum blond hair shimmered faintly in the darkness. “Sparing your life?”

“Keugh!”

Snap. The man seized the cadet by his throat. The cadet’s eyes swirled with terror.

The man, Noah, whispered with an expressionless face. “How dare you ask to be spared?”

“Hu, kup, keugh.”

You must have had some fun with this painting. Then you should pay the price for it.”

“Keup, kek, keugh.”

On the chair, the cadet struggled. He thrashed violently, resisting with all his might. And finally, crack. The sound of bones breaking was heard. His movement stopped. The cadet’s neck lolled limply to one side…

“―Ah!”

And at that very moment, Dana’s eyes snapped open. An overwhelming dizziness washed over her. What was that just now? Panting heavily, she sat up. Her fingertips were trembling.

Was that a dream just now?

No, that wasn’t a dream. That was…

Did I just glimpse into the past? But how?

Dana looked down at her hands. She hadn’t even touched the ground, so how on earth had she read the land’s memories? But that wasn’t what was important right now.

It was Noah? Noah killed Justin. He killed the cadets. Noah, Noah did…But why Noah? Didn’t he hate and despise me? That boy who never missed an opportunity to sneer, insult, get angry, and speak ill of her? Moreover, he’d mocked me after seeing that nude painting. So why on earth?

Amidst the confusion, a single truth struck her like lightning. Today.

Tonight, Bilod Lancaster had said he would catch the murderer. A trap that the culprit couldn’t escape from had been set. If that’s the case… Noah will be caught.

Dana swallowed hard. Her heart pounded anxiously, and she clutched at her collar.

Bilod Lancaster had also said this. If the culprit resisted, they would shoot that person dead on the spot.

Would Noah surrender willingly? No, he would surely try to escape. There was no way he would just let himself be captured. If that happened, the police would kill Noah. And what if Noah died? What if he died while passing judgment on those who had insulted me?

Unable to bear it, Dana squeezed her eyes shut. Show me. Clenching her fists, she shouted in her mind. I commanded to the land, no, to the world, no, to God, to demon. No, no. Whatever it is, it doesn’t matter. Show me. What would happen to Noah tonight. Show me. Show me what would happen to Noah tonight—Ah!

At that moment, her insight finally opened. A giant eye that reads the future and scans the past. That eye, which looked down upon and up at the world, showed her.

The location was a cathedral swallowed by darkness.

“Noah Windsor, drop your weapon!”

Beneath a statue of an angel stood a boy drenched in blood.

“Drop your weapon! There’s nowhere left to run!”

Surrounding him were police officers along with Bilod Lancaster.

“If you don’t drop your weapon, we’ll open fire!”

Bilod Lancaster warned him, aiming his gun directly at Noah. But Noah didn’t drop his weapon. He merely pointed his gun at the head of the man lying beneath his feet.

“Noah Windsor! Stop! We’ll shoot!”

Bilod warned again. But Noah did not stop. He fired once more at the man, who already appeared to be dead.

“We’ll open fire in 3 seconds! 3! 2! 1!”

Eventually, Bilod placed his finger on the trigger. Without hesitation, he pulled it. Bang!

“Aaah!” Dana covered her mouth, shuddering. Gasp, gasp, her breathing became much rougher than before.

What was that? The scene just now, what was that? Bilod Lancaster’s shout, the gunshot, and… Noah. Noah from his head, blood splattered…

Realizing what that meant, Dana’s entire body lost strength. She slumped to the floor as if collapsing.

Tonight, Noah Windsor would die.

Noah couldn’t understand them at all. So he asked. “How on earth can you paint something like this?” Drip, drip, blood dripped from his fingertips.

The cadet, writhing at his feet, groaned. “Spare me…”

“I’m genuinely curious, so tell me. How can you see that woman as an object like this?” Noah was genuinely curious.

Justin, the fellow cadets he’d killed not long ago, and this junior he’d failed to kill back then. How could they feel such vulgar desires toward that woman?

“You wanted to sleep with that woman?” Noah asked seriously, lightly kicking the head of the dying cadet. “And did looking at a painting like this give you some kind of vicarious satisfaction?”

“I was… wrong.”

“How could you even think of releasing your filthy desire on that woman?”

How dare. How could they dare to do that?

“I’m curious, so tell me. How could you harbor such feelings toward her? I really can’t understand.”

How is that possible? That woman is like a saintess. Since the moment I first saw her shining all white when I was eleven, I thought she must be a goddess. An angel. No, maybe she’s my mother. Perhaps the mother I’ve never once seen became an angel and appeared in the body of my sister…

Even those words were insufficient to describe her. He still didn’t know what to call the most moving existence in the world. And yet these guys had harbored animalistic desires toward such a woman.

Noah couldn’t understand how they could so easily acknowledge those desires and so readily seek to satisfy them. Nor could he forgive them.

“Don’t you feel guilty? You should have denied it. Held back. Not acknowledged. But you dared to paint such a painting?”

“…”

“Why aren’t you answering?”

Noah nudged the body, but there was no response. Ah, it seems like he’s dead. Served him right. B*stard. Even tearing him to pieces a hundred times wouldn’t have been enough to satisfy Noah’s anger after seeing the painting that b*stard had commissioned. But this wasn’t the end.

Noah intended to see it through to the very end today. He had heard that another cadet was planning to buy a painting that insulted that woman. And disgustingly enough, it was going to be sold in the sacred cathedral.

“I heard that painting is up for sale. But it might be a trap, so use your own judgment.”

Someone had told Noah that. There was always a man who informed him. Thanks to that man, Noah had been able to deal with them. Justin, this cadet, and all the others he would kill.

Noah immediately stole a horse from the dormitory and rushed toward the cathedral. As he did, he thought. Ah, perhaps I’ll get caught. Just as that man had said, it might be a trap. But so what? He found himself laughing. Yes, perhaps it would be better if I got caught. Because my self-destruction is all her fault.

“I love Noah the most in the world. My adorable Noah.”

She had said that while hugging me tightly and kissing my cheek.

“Hey, Noah. You know Crown Prince Raios, right? It’s a secret, but I really love him. I’ve never loved a man like this before.”

How could she love someone else more than me? Liar. That’s betrayal.

Noah still vividly remembered. The face of that woman whispered in his ear that she loved another man. The first time he saw her face, drenched in sweet happiness.

Noah hated that face. He hated it so much that he wanted to make her cry, wishing she would suffer because of him. At least in that moment, her emotions would be solely directed at him…

“Noah!”

At that moment, a small figure sprang forward. Startled, Noah pulled on the reins. Neigh! The horse stopped abruptly with a loud cry.

“…You.”

It was that woman.
