Perfect Mission Chapter 1 - Prologue
Prologue
Rain poured down like a waterfall.
Even with the wipers working tirelessly, it was difficult to see even right in front of him, yet Jo Gyeongcheol’s hands on the steering wheel remained relaxed.
[Daewon Chemicals stated that the recent incident was likely an inside job and that they are cooperating with the National Intelligence Service to find the culprit as soon as possible…]
Jo Gyeongcheol, listening to the radio, switched it off from the news and turned on some music.
The solemn yet elegant melody of the classical music calmed his somewhat tense mind.
This project was as good as finished.
Once he delivered what he held preciously in his chest, everything would be over.
He decided that once it was all over, this time he would rest for at least ten years, doing absolutely nothing.
Because he was sick and tired of this life, where he couldn’t let his guard down for even a moment.
Honk! Honk!!!
Perhaps because the drivers were on edge, horns blared here and there…
Jo Gyeongcheol, trying his best to stay relaxed so as not to be affected by the same agitation, focused on driving safely.
There was still plenty of time, so as long as there were no accidents, he would arrive at his destination comfortably.
At that moment…
Crackle! Boom!
A bright flash of lightning branches out in all directions in the distance, and a moment later, a deafening roar erupted.
Having lived to his mid-thirties, he marveled at the lightning, unlike anything he had seen before, and gazed up at the sky. Then, in the distance, he heard something shatter with a bang.
Did the lightning hit something?
The moment he turned his head towards the source of the sound,
He spotted a car hurtling towards him at tremendous speed.
He was stuck, unable to move with cars in front and behind him at the red light.
Jo Gyeongcheol, a survivor of countless crises, realized that today was his last day.
During the fleeting moment as the car rushed towards him, the moments he had survived, overcoming death, flashed before his eyes, but there was no way to escape this predicament.
“I’m fucked.”
Crash!
“Aaagh!”
“Call 119! Let’s get the people out first!”
“What do we do… blood is flowing from the car!”
A horrific scene.
People rushed to rescue those who were still alive, and soon arriving ambulances and police cars attempted to control the accident scene.
But with the already heavy traffic and the pouring rain, there was no way the scene could be properly managed.
Broadcast cameras and reporters, and a crowd of people holding cell phones filmed the accident scene, and among them, there was someone who miraculously survived this horrific scene.
“Move! Move!”
“One, two, three, four! Again! One, two, three, four!”
Paramedics desperately performed CPR on an unconscious man, trying to save his fading life.
The ambulances cleared the scene, and Jo Gyeongcheol’s wrecked car, along with his lifeless body, quietly cooled down.
A lazy cat who wants her honied indolence back.
