Resurrection Chapter 102 - Hyung, Get a Grip
After repeating countless regressions and trying every method imaginable, I still didn’t know how to prevent the world’s destruction. There was just one method that I thought might have a slim possibility, but I couldn’t bring myself to try it.
My past self might have, but my current self cannot.
Min Gongchan diligently drank the blood in the blood pack, leaving not a single drop behind. As the blood circulated through his body, the thirst that felt like it would kill him subsided, and instead, he felt a surging strength. Unlike in past regressions, he had succeeded in Transcending into a Royal Vampire this time, so a new path had opened up.
For now, he had to protect Kim Yitae from Yaksha, so he couldn’t separate him from Seo Heesoo. The best he could do for now was to prevent Kim Yitae from making Seo Heesoo grow stronger.
‘I have to get stronger faster than Seo Heesoo. First, I’ll get rid of Yaksha, and then Seo Heesoo is next. If I’m strong enough to kill Yaksha, I should be able to kill Seo Heesoo too.’
Emitting a murderous aura, Min Gongchan threw the blood pack into the medical waste bin and got up.
Just then, Seo Heesoo abruptly entered the infirmary. It seemed he had come looking for a bandage to cover Kim Yitae’s bruise.
Upon seeing Min Gongchan, Seo Heesoo’s expression hardened fearsomely. Min Gongchan, in contrast, gave a cold smile. He had just been thinking about killing Seo Heesoo, so he couldn’t hide his killing intent. Still, he couldn’t attack him right now, so instead, he opened his mouth nonchalantly.
“How’s Kim Yitae?”
“…”
Seo Heesoo didn’t answer. He turned his body and started looking for a bandage. Behind him, Min Gongchan, with no intention of leaving, leaned casually against the doorway and continued speaking.
“The back of his neck was quite a sight. Tell him I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for it to happen.”
Crrunch.
The sound of metal crumpling could be heard from somewhere. It was the sound of Seo Heesoo crushing a stainless steel organizer. Even after seeing it crumple like a piece of paper, Min Gongchan continued to speak calmly.
“Also, tell him I’ve paid my dues sufficiently. Since I became an innocent punching bag for you…”
Before Min Gongchan could finish his sentence, his neck was caught in Seo Heesoo’s grasp. He tried to snap his neck with tremendous force, but Min Gongchan was no longer the ordinary human he used to be.
His form scattered like mist and reappeared behind Seo Heesoo. As soon as he did, he grabbed Seo Heesoo’s shoulder, spun him around, and threw a punch.
Thwack!
He had originally intended to send him flying out of the tent, but Seo Heesoo didn’t budge an inch from his spot. Only his head turned with a creak, as if it were made of a lump of iron. Min Gongchan gritted his teeth and was about to throw another punch at Seo Heesoo. Seo Heesoo grabbed that fist, his eyes blazing.
Seeing the reddish glow in his eyes, Min Gongchan used the power of a vampire. A blue aura shot up around him, and Blood Lines covered the area. From the force, the tent was blown away entirely, as if a grenade had gone off inside.
Due to the untimely commotion, the surrounding tents collapsed with a rumble, and Min Gongchan and Seo Heesoo began to trade blows in earnest. They couldn’t use skills with so many people around, so they engaged in a literal brawl. They threw punches at each other indiscriminately, rolling around the half-collapsed tents.
“Selfish bastard! If it wasn’t for you!”
Min Gongchan relentlessly pushed Seo Heesoo, shouting and swearing.
After letting Yaksha get away, Seo Heesoo hadn’t left him alone for sucking Kim Yitae’s blood. He had come at him as if to kill him, and if Team A hadn’t arrived late and pulled them apart, one of them would have been seriously injured.
At that time, he had endured it, thinking it was the price for drinking Kim Yitae’s blood, but he had no intention of doing so now. If anyone should be angry, it should be Kim Yitae; it was absurd for Seo Heesoo to be throwing a fit. He was going through all this bullshit because of him—if he could, he wanted to kill this crazy bastard blinded by jealousy right now.
“Fuck, it’s you or me today!”
Unlike Min Gongchan, who was screaming at the top of his lungs, Seo Heesoo didn’t say a single word. But his expression was terrifying. Ever since he had bitten Kim Yitae’s neck, his eyes were filled with murderous intent whenever he looked at Min Gongchan. It seemed he, too, wanted to kill Min Gongchan right away.
The two men grappled with each other like beasts. They threw punches, destroying all the nearby tents and equipment. Every time a missed punch hit the ground, a crater formed as if a meteor had fallen. If the fight escalated any further, it seemed the entire accident response headquarters set up to manage the aftermath of the Iicheong Training Center incident would collapse.
People rushed out because of the commotion. Among them were Kang Cheoljun, Yoon Younghyun, and Kim Yitae. Kang Cheoljun and Yoon Younghyun couldn’t intervene in the two men’s dogfight, but Kim Yitae was different. After looking at the two entangled in their fight with disbelief for a moment, he used Blink and unceremoniously inserted himself between them.
“Stop it!”
Thud!
Seo Heesoo’s and Min Gongchan’s fists hit Kim Yitae’s body at the same time. Seo Heesoo’s fist landed on his shoulder, and Min Gongchan’s fist struck his side.
Startled, they faltered, and Kim Yitae gasped. Even though they had pulled their punches for a split second, they were fists filled with hostility. The Golden Scales were useless; the impact transmitted through his body, and he heard the sound of a bone cracking.
“Ugh…”
Kim Yitae clutched the places he was hit and collapsed on the spot. With their faces all busted up, Seo Heesoo and Min Gongchan simultaneously reached out to support his body. However, Kim Yitae righted his buckling knees and refused both of their hands. Then he spat out a curse he rarely used in front of Seo Heesoo.
“Fucking hell, seriously.”
At the incredibly rough words, not only Seo Heesoo but also Min Gongchan flinched. Kim Yitae, his eyes burning with disappointment and anger, said.
“I see why we let go of Yaksha, who didn’t even have his wits about him. How could you possibly catch Yaksha when you’re too busy fighting and throwing fits among your own side?”
Since Kim Yitae’s words weren’t entirely wrong, neither of them could say anything. Right after Hwang Chihong and his gang disappeared with Yaksha, they had been too busy fighting each other rather than immediately pursuing them.
Kim Yitae, looking thoroughly fed up, distanced himself from the two and vented his anger.
“Both of you, get a grip. Min Gongchan, you decide clearly whether you’re on our side or the enemy’s side, and if you’re on our side, stop holding a grudge against Heesoo hyung and picking fights! Heesoo hyung, you too. If you’re my partner, act like a partner. Stop acting unlike yourself, getting worked up over every little thing concerning me like a mother hen!”
Having delivered his tirade, Kim Yitae turned around abruptly. He let out a groan, “Ugh,” as if the places he was hit hurt, but neither Seo Heesoo nor Min Gongchan could stop him. Instead, Kang Cheoljun stepped forward and took him somewhere to treat him.
Even amidst the atmosphere of cleaning up the surroundings, the two men glared at each other, their anger still simmering. Their gazes were murderous, but Yoon Younghyun forcibly dragged Min Gongchan away. Instead of fighting more, they turned their bodies in different directions and dispersed.
👑
I stared blankly down at the scene where the cleanup was in full swing.
On the collapsed mountainside, the single remaining juniper tree was perfect for sitting on and viewing the scenery. It was a contradiction to say I was viewing the scenery when what I saw was a disaster site, but the sight of the golems working hard alongside the heavy machinery was something different.
I know there was a lot of talk when they were first introduced because they couldn’t work properly and only caused accidents, but it seems they’ve improved a lot since then. They were working in concert with the heavy machinery quite plausibly.
Watching them, a question suddenly came to me. I inwardly asked the Golden Emperor.
‘Your Majesty, will it truly be possible for us humans to shut down the Awakened system and return to the time before the dungeon era? Hasn’t the world already completely adapted to things like supernatural abilities and monsters?’
Was he watching YouVtube or something? The Golden Emperor was silent for a long time. Just when I was about to give up on receiving a message, he slyly appeared and threw back a retort that could be called a reply.
—The Golden Emperor points out that it is a funny thing for a human to ask a Transcendent about human affairs.
I replied with dissatisfaction.
‘Not all humans are the same. Transcendents can see us humans from a more objective perspective, can’t you?’
—The Golden Emperor asks if you will retract your plan if humans have, in fact, adapted to the dungeon era.
Lost in ambiguous thoughts, I stared vacantly at the heavy machinery. Then I noticed a phrase written on the side of an excavator: ‘Vehemently Opposed to the Introduction of Golems.’
When the decision was first made to deploy golems not only at accident sites but also at various construction sites, the heavy machinery operators had protested fiercely. Saying they couldn’t let golems take their jobs, they marched through the Naseong-dong area, performing one step and three bows.
Recalling that incident, I shook my head inwardly.
‘I can’t be certain that my actions to turn the world back to how it was are right, but I won’t retract my plan or anything like that. I am simply doing what I believe is right.’
—The Golden Emperor says that should be enough. He also advises that if you wish to carry out what you have decided, you should find Lævateinn and break the seal as soon as possible.
‘I wanted to go find the demon sword too, but as you can see, things have gotten complicated. Please wait just a little longer.’
—The Golden Emperor complains that you shouldn’t bother calling him if you haven’t found Lævateinn.
‘What, weren’t you by my side to help me? Do you even know what kind of chaos just happened? Just how fun is YouVtube…’
—The Golden Emperor suggests that you try filming something like a Hunter Log yourself.
‘Excuse me?’
At the out-of-the-blue remark, I asked back, dumbfounded, and the Golden Emperor sent a serious message.
—The Golden Emperor says that even guys less impressive than you enjoy fame through Hunter Logs, so what reason is there that you, His Majesty’s number one and only apostle, cannot do the same?
