Resurrection Chapter 56 - Terminal Concept Syndrome Patient

SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!

With each merciless strike, my head was whipped from side to side several times. By the time Yaksha stopped, my eyes were spinning from the pain.

Only when I became quiet, trickling blood, did Yaksha seem satisfied and finally open his mouth.

“It’s been a while.”

I couldn’t answer for a moment. I just stared, dumbfounded, at the man who had overpowered me so effortlessly.

That bastard. He’s disgustingly handsome. How irritating.

Yaksha was a head taller than the average person and breathtakingly handsome. Since he only ever wore a tight-fitting suit so as not to be hindered while fighting, his powerful, racehorse-like physique was on full display, and since his entire body was decked out in all black, he stood out even from ten li away.

Originally, his straight hair, which he had grown neatly to his waist, was also jet-black, but now it was white as snow. Since he had a habit of slightly changing his appearance whenever he acquired a new ability, I could easily guess that he had grown stronger while he was off the grid.

But Yaksha was more famous for his rotten personality than for his outstanding abilities or handsome face. As one could tell from how he’d just started off with a slap to the face without a word, his personality was truly garbage.

If the word psychopath were born as a person, it would look exactly like him. His blade-like gaze alone was completely devoid of emotion.

In contrast, my heart was pounding fiercely as I met his eyes. I thought I had mentally prepared myself for the day I would face him, but I guess I was mistaken. Just looking at him made my mouth go dry and a cold sweat prickle on the back of my neck.

Even so, I couldn’t show any sign of fear in front of him. I clenched my teeth and said with a smile.

“Yeah. It’s been a while, you bastard. How have you been? Has your illness gotten any better?”

“Illness?”

“You’re a patient, aren’t you? A terminal patient with a case of ‘concept-itis’.”

At my words, one of Yaksha’s eyebrows twitched.

“You haven’t changed a bit.”

“Same goes for you. When are you going to stop with that damn concept of yours?”

Yaksha couldn’t reply to my taunt. That was because lightning bolts began to rain down around him.

And it wasn’t just a single bolt; it was a barrage. It was a sight as if thunderbolts were rampaging madly.

As the scene before me flashed without rest, I turned my head. I could see Min Gongchan, who had been sent flying and slammed into something over there, standing with two iron rods that looked like lightning rods.

“If you want to kidnap Kim Yitae in front of me, you’ll have to get through me first!”

Min Gongchan, shouting loudly, struck the iron rods together, and a torrent of lightning bolts poured out from them. They wriggled as if alive, completely surrounding Yaksha and me, who was held captive by him.

KRA-KOOM!

The thunderbolt that roared as if it would shatter the heavens and the earth was tremendous, but unfortunately, it couldn’t penetrate the defensive zone of Mortal Ground to affect Yaksha. Mortal Ground not only absorbed the HP of those nearby but also weakened attacks.

Furthermore, the God-King’s Horn that had sprouted on Yaksha’s head neutralized not only barriers and seals but also magic and curses.

In other words, nothing but physical attacks worked on Yaksha.

Min Gongchan, who was well aware of this fact, wasn’t satisfied with just calling down lightning. He used Blink to move a short but rapid distance, into a range suitable for close-quarters combat, then immediately swung and thrust the iron rods in both hands.

Min Gongchan’s movements, using both hands in completely different ways, could be called a work of art. As he was proficient not only with his fists but also with weapons, even Yaksha couldn’t ignore his fierce assault.

“Annoying.”

Yaksha, muttering nonchalantly, casually deflected Min Gongchan’s attack with one hand. Why? Because his other hand was still grabbing me by the collar.

After blocking Min Gongchan’s desperate attack, Yaksha immediately summoned his weapon.

“Trishula.”

At his call, the Trishula that had sent my magic sword flying returned straight to his grasp. Yaksha grabbed the Trishula and used it to counter Min Gongchan’s attack.

Under the powerful repulsive force of the Trishula, Min Gongchan faltered with clenched teeth. Taking that opportunity, Yaksha struck out once more, pushing Min Gongchan back, and then threw the Trishula forward.

It was an attack impossible to see with the naked eye, but surprisingly, Min Gongchan dodged it. Even Yaksha seemed surprised by the sight.

“What?”

I almost fainted. How did he dodge an attack that even my A-rank Hunter eyes couldn’t see? Is that the skill of a regressor?

But that was as far as it went. The Trishula, having missed Min Gongchan, swerved widely and flew toward the back of Min Gongchan’s head.

“Watch out!”

As I shouted like a thunderbolt, Min Gongchan whipped his body around and crossed the iron rods in an X-shape. He must have intended to somehow block the Trishula with that, but it seemed they didn’t have the durability to block a myth-grade item.

CRASH!

The iron rods shattered like glass. If Min Gongchan hadn’t been wearing mithril armor, it would have been his body that was shattered.

“Ugh!”

Min Gongchan was thrown backward, and Yaksha snatched the returning Trishula. He slung it back onto his back and began to form a hand seal with one hand.

There was only one reason for Yaksha to be casting.

“Min Gongchan, it’s the undead!”

As if to prove my words, Yaksha uttered the activation word.

“Arise.”

With that one simple command, something began to squirm and crawl out from under the ashen ground. They were the dead who had been burned and buried in the earth.

They were mostly the corpses of Fire Drakes and the hunters who had died fighting them. The half-burnt undead rose from the ashes, reeking of a burning smell as they cried out.

“Kuaaaah!”

“Kuaaaaargh!”

Flames erupted from their bodies as if they were spontaneously combusting. They surrounded Min Gongchan in layers. Min Gongchan gritted his teeth and began to strike them down with his mithril-gauntleted fists.

His fists, enhanced with buffs on top of the mithril, were indeed powerful, as the undead crumbled like half-burnt logs with each punch. But the path to me through the numerous undead seemed distant.

Above all, Min Gongchan was a civilian. I couldn’t expect more help from him. Instead, while Yaksha was dealing with Min Gongchan, I unleashed the magic I had been secretly casting.

“Crevasse!”

The ground beneath his feet split wide open with a craaack, and a collapse occurred. As the ground crumbled away, Yaksha staggered for a moment.

Using that opening, I used a joint lock to break free from his grasp. I kicked him and was about to leap onto the collapsing ground when Yaksha snatched my ankle like a grappling hook.

“Whoa!”

From beneath the crumbling ground, Yaksha swung his arm wide. The wind pressure generated by his cape repelled the falling rocks and stones.

On the other hand, I was dragged by his hand and slammed my back against his chest. As if he had been waiting for it, Yaksha crossed his arms and hugged me tightly around my chest.

Trapped in his embrace, I felt like my whole body was going to explode.

“Argh!”

Ignoring my pained cries, Yaksha flipped his body as he fell. I was forced to look down as well and witnessed the roiling lava at the bottom of the fissure and collapse I had created. The thought that I would be roasted alive if I fell in there sent shivers all over my body.

But it seemed Yaksha had no intention of taking a half-bath in the lava. He flapped his cape and floated his body up. Debris rained down on him mercilessly.

Yaksha staggered, unable to avoid a few boulders, but he soon pressed his cape tightly against his body and showed off a divine technique. He spun in place like a screw and then shot up into the air like a cannonball.

KABOOM!

Yaksha, who had escaped the crevasse with a tremendous roar, floated high in the air and spread his cape wide. I felt like I was going to faint as the blood rushed to my head. But because we were so high up, I had a good view of the situation below, so I opened my eyes wide.

Upstream in the valley, Min Gongchan was fighting hard, surrounded by an enormous number of undead. Just watching him fight, it was impossible to imagine he was a civilian.

Down in the valley, Heesoo hyung and the Scorching Archdemon were still fighting. A bizarre phenomenon was occurring there.

A giant wheel was visible, floating in mid-air. The wheel of fire, so dark red it looked black, was spinning in place, sucking in all the surrounding heat.

Seeing even the pillar of fire that had been trapping Heesoo hyung slowly being sucked into it, it seemed its power would be no joke. It was highly likely that if that thing exploded, not only Heesoo hyung but also we, who were above the valley, would not be safe.

Yaksha must have thought the same thing. He swung his arm wide, as if to carry me away just like this.

I struggled to break free from his embrace. It wasn’t a situation Heesoo hyung could do anything about, but I yelled to let him know of the current crisis anyway.

“Heesoo hyung!”

As I resisted violently in mid-air, Yaksha growled and grabbed my jaw tightly. Then he bit down hard on the nape of my neck.

“Aack!”

As I let out a surprised scream, he stuck out his tongue and licked my neck and ear stickily. At the sensation of his tongue roving over me, I froze, unable to resist.

Dammit, the texture of his cold and rough tongue was not unfamiliar. The feeling of it scraping against my skin brought back a familiar fear.

My thoughts paralyzed, I could no longer resist and only trembled. As I became quiet, Yaksha poked my ear canal with the tip of his tongue and said.

“Do you want to get fucked in front of Seo Heesoo?”

I couldn’t give any answer. I couldn’t even move my lips, let alone resist. Yaksha whispered into my trembling ear.

“Though that does sound like it would be enjoyable.”
