Resurrection Chapter 78 - Did It Feel Good?
In his vision, which was turning scarlet as blood seeped into it, Yoon Younghyun looked as if he were covered in blood. This was even more so because he had seen him before, sitting in a pool of blood, completely blood-soaked.
The memory of Kim Yitae’s head, held in his hand like some kind of fruit—that head, half eaten away—sparked a rage that bordered on despair. But that rage was not directed solely at Yoon Younghyun. After all, Yoon Younghyun was not the only one who had brought about Kim Yitae’s death.
This was the only way to stop it.
In his countless regressions, he had ingested Royal Vampire Blood only once, and he had failed. All the terrible things that had happened then. He had been denying the fact that this was the only way for a mere ordinary person’s body to stand against the Awakened, afraid of the things he didn’t even want to see in his dreams, let alone remember.
But back then, in the agony of transformation, he had glimpsed a possibility, so this time he decided to bet on it. Luckily, he had been struck by Yaksha’s curse, and his body was overflowing with vengeful spirits, so the chances of success were higher now than ever before.
No, he absolutely had to succeed.
In extreme pain, Min Gongchan hissed. With every single word he spoke, it felt like he was vomiting up a steel ball covered in thorns.
“After you… kill me, send the sword to Seo Heesoo. Then, go to the Leecheong Training Institute. Destroy what’s in the basement there first.”
At the out-of-the-blue mention of the Leecheong Training Institute, Yoon Younghyun’s eyes widened. He realized that Min Gongchan had taken several steps back to create distance and took one step forward as he asked.
“What’s there? I don’t know what kind of classified information it is, but if it’s in the basement of the Leecheong Training Institute, shouldn’t the Special Task Force first…”
“No——!”
Min Gongchan raised his voice, and a sound that could be called a roar erupted. It sounded like 100 plates shattering at once and 100 iron nails scraping a steel plate all at the same time.
Yoon Younghyun, who had sensitive hearing, staggered, letting out a short groan in the agony of his eardrums tearing. Paying him no mind, Min Gongchan continued to speak in a heavily suppressed voice.
“Absolutely not the Special Task Force. Those bastards will never destroy what’s there. Mark my words. Not the Special Task Force. Don’t tell anyone, and after you kill me, the first thing you do is go to the basement of the Leecheong Training Institute and destroy what’s there——!”
At the demand, which was close to a command, Yoon Younghyun clapped his hands over his tingling ears and yelled.
“So what is in there?”
As he heard Min Gongchan’s reply, Yoon Younghyun’s eyes widened.
While Yoon Younghyun was bewildered by the hard-to-accept truth, Min Gongchan, dripping with blood, turned his body around. As if the transformation was beginning in earnest, his skin started to crack open, and he began to shed not just blood-tinged sweat, but pure, unadulterated blood.
Looking like he could drop dead at any moment, Min Gongchan dragged his feet toward the forest where crystal trees grew in a dense thicket.
Chapter 14. Not That
Lying on a cot and scrolling through his phone, Park Sigyeong grinned with happiness. Just a short while ago, he had been sick with worry because he couldn’t get any news about Mr. Heesoo, but now, that time felt like a distant memory.
When he thought he was dead, his heart had shattered and all he wanted to do was bite his tongue and follow him in death, but now that he had become his comrade, he felt like he had the whole world. Even though he had been something of a comrade before as an Apostle of the White Goddess, there had been far too many competitors back then. The number of bastards who called themselves fellow Apostles of the White Goddess and fawned over him was not just one or two.
Of all those apostles, he was the only one who had remained by Mr. Heesoo’s side to the end and become his comrade. That fact brought him immense satisfaction, making him so happy that just lying there felt like being in paradise on earth.
The problem was Kim Yitae, that bastard.
In fact, when rumors that Seo Heesoo’s partner was Kim Yitae started to spread, he hadn’t thought they were real. Although he had been chosen by the Golden Emperor by chance and changed his class to a magic swordsman, he had been nothing more than a no-account, all-rounder jack-of-all-trades before. He was an endlessly lacking figure to stand beside Seo Heesoo, the holy knight and national hero.
He thought that the only reason Mr. Heesoo had made him his partner was to repay the favor of being rescued from the demon’s den. He was so frustrated at the thought that if he had been the one to rescue him from the demon’s den, he would have been made the partner instead, that he couldn’t sleep for days.
He couldn’t reveal his true feelings in front of Mr. Heesoo, but in truth, Park Sigyeong hated Kim Yitae.
He hated his prim and pretty looks, and he hated that he was taller than he looked. He hated how he spoke informally just because he was from the old generation, and he hated his behavior, which lacked even a hint of class.
He hated his tenacious side that tried to avoid any personal loss, and he hated that he was subtly competent. He was full of things he disliked from head to toe, but the thing he hated the most was the fact that he had Resurrection.
Because as long as the resurrection skill existed, he couldn’t separate Kim Yitae from Mr. Heesoo.
As an Apostle of the White Goddess, Park Sigyeong knew well the position Seo Heesoo was currently in. He may have come out of the demon’s den alive, but he was no longer a holy knight and was even branded with the disgrace of having been corrupted.
There was only one way for Seo Heesoo to regain his former fame. That was to become stronger.
Just by being with Kim Yitae, Seo Heesoo had already escaped the hellish level range and reached Lv. 61. It wasn’t officially measured, but in terms of rank, he was easily S-class.
What he needed now was a stage to perform on. If a huge monster break were to happen, Seo Heesoo’s image of defeating monsters and saving people would be widely publicized. People who had been unable to find a hero to replace Seo Heesoo would go wild for his new return, and he might enjoy the same, or perhaps even greater, fame than before. The thought of being praised as his comrade by his side was thrilling even to imagine.
Park Sigyeong snickered and flicked through the screen of his phone. As expected, the comments under the column announcing Seo Heesoo’s return were all supportive and hopeful. Park Sigyeong went around liking each positive comment one by one, then found one that could be called a malicious comment.
⌞ Who the hell cares about Seo Heesoo anymore? A berserker lololololol so lame.
Park Sigyeong was furious. He immediately posted a rebuttal.
⌞ What’s wrong with a berserker? He’s doing better than you, who just taps on a keyboard in a corner of your room.
He was still fuming, not satisfied with posting just one comment. He was trying hard to ignore it and was reading other positive comments in succession when a reply was posted to his comment.
⌞ Fan girls getting sooooo triggered by facts. A guy who wasn’t even S-class as a holy knight is gonna do so well after changing class to a berserker. Maybe if his partner was at least someone useful. Just an all-rounder jack-of-all-trades lololololol He’s already a ruined character.
Park Sigyeong clenched his teeth and tapped furiously on the on-screen keyboard.
⌞ Just an all-rounder jack-of-all-trades? He’s a magic swordsman now, you know? He’s already A-class not long after changing classes, so his growth potential is limitless. More importantly, Kim Yitae has Resurrection! Now Mr. Heesoo is practically immortal, so trash like you can’t even dare to compare…
—The White Goddess laments your vulgar vocabulary and pathetic actions.
Park Sigyeong, who had been furiously typing the comment, was so startled that he dropped his phone. The heavy phone fell onto his face with a thud.
“Ack!”
Park Sigyeong clutched the bridge of his nose, which ached enough to bring tears to his eyes, and shot up into a sitting position. Then he hurriedly picked up the phone that had fallen to the floor and looked to see if he had accidentally pressed the post button.
He had mentioned Resurrection just because he was angry, he hadn’t actually intended to post the comment. He wasn’t an idiot, so he could roughly imagine the repercussions that would follow if the fact that Kim Yitae had a resurrection skill became known.
Fortunately, the comment had not been posted. Park Sigyeong quickly canceled the comment and looked around with a nervous expression. He wanted to think he had misheard something, but the message that had come through was far too specific for that.
As if seeing right through his doubts, another message came through in quick succession.
—The White Goddess commands you, Second Apostle Park Sigyeong, to correct your posture and receive the divine message.
Park Sigyeong flinched, put down his phone, quickly got off the bed onto the floor, and knelt. Placing both hands on the floor and bowing his head, he spoke in a trembling voice.
“Park Sigyeong, a Second Apostle of the White Goddess, and her servant and lamb, dares to look upon the Goddess.”
The White Goddess was strict about etiquette, so when her messages came, one had to receive them in a polite posture with a formal greeting. Even as he recited the greeting he always had memorized, Park Sigyeong was half dazed.
To tell the truth, he had never once received a divine message from the White Goddess. There were so many apostles serving the White Goddess that receiving a message from her directly was limited to the three First Apostles. It was common for ordinary apostles like Park Sigyeong to only receive unilateral announcements sent to all apostles.
Finally satisfied with his humble posture, the White Goddess’s tone in the message softened somewhat. Instead of continuing her scolding, the White Goddess got to the point and delivered her message.
—The White Goddess inquires if it is true that you, Park Sigyeong, have become the comrade of Seo Heesoo, who was once a holy knight.
Park Sigyeong realized that was the only reason the White Goddess would have for speaking to him. He bowed his head and replied inwardly.
‘Yes. I do not know if you were watching, but after many twists and turns, I came to witness Mr. Heesoo dying and coming back to life, and I was led by Kim Yitae’s hand to become their comrade.’
—The White Goddess says that of course she was watching all that you did. She says that she was deeply impressed by your trust in Seo Heesoo, and she commands you to stay by Seo Heesoo’s side and help him in every way, materially and spiritually, from now on.
