The Only Woman in a Zombie Apocalypse Vol. 2 Chapter 67 - Battle with Humans (2)

Author: Nikss

“What?”

The father crumbled at his daughter’s story.

The family probably thought like Ian and Jiseok. Even if we couldn’t talk, being able to eat, wear clothes, and sleep was better than being outside that barricade.

“W-what are you talking about… What is this?!”

“I… I had a really hard time, and I still am? But I’m trying to overcome it. They said they came to get revenge on the boss, no, on that bastard, because they lost their families too. At least I survived. I’m trying to overcome it.”

His once timid and fragile daughter had grown stronger.

Another woman’s younger brother approached Dayoung’s group and bowed his head.

“Thank you for saving our noona. We were foolish and just thought she was doing fine. Thank you so much.”

“Not at all. It’s because the two women held on so well.”

“We would be even more grateful if you would allow us to deal with this bastard.”

“Of course. We only brought him out because the two ladies requested it.”

The younger brother approached the group and began speaking. While the others didn’t have a major grudge, they spoke of how much he had exploited them and caused trouble.

They picked up clubs and stones that were lying around and approached the boss.

“We weren’t quiet just because we were outnumbered! We endured it because we thought at least our noona could rest comfortably!”

Thud, thud—the sound of people hitting the boss echoed.

To Dayoung, it sounded like a beautiful song.

Sometimes, Dayoung was afraid of that part of herself. It felt like her humanity was gradually disappearing.

‘Could she be a born evil person? Like a psychopath. Ugh!’

Seeing Dayoung trembling, the group rushed over to her, making a fuss. They placed a hand on her forehead to check her temperature.

“Noona, why are you trembling? You’re not catching a cold, are you?”

“No. I was just lost in thought.”

The women who had been hitting the man smiled at Dayoung’s demeanor.

Even though she had been so imposing and terrifying when she first pointed the gun, now she just seemed like a woman their own age.

The two women approached Dayoung and bowed their heads again.

“Thank you. Thank you so much.”

“Not at all. I didn’t really do anything. By the way, what do you plan to do now? If you don’t have a proper place to stay, it’s a bit far, but please come with us to our hideout.”

“Hmm. We’ll discuss it among ourselves.”

The two women returned to their group, and they, along with their companions, pushed the barely alive leader outside the barricade.

Then the two women shouted loudly.

“Zombies! Dinner time!!!”

“P-please… save me…!!”

The two women, watching the leader get swarmed by zombies, discussed future plans with their group. Dayoung approached them.

“Our hideout still has plenty of food and water. And as you can see from me, we don’t make women do anything unpleasant.”

They were tempted by Dayoung’s words, but their group wasn’t small.

No matter how abundant the food and water were, with more people, it would be consumed that much faster.

Plus, they had already settled here and learned how to survive in this place.

The people who had been murmuring among themselves seemed to have finished their discussion, and the woman’s father approached Dayoung’s group.

“We think it’s better for us to stay here. Thank you so much for the kind offer. But as you know, humans can be incredibly selfish. There would be many hardships if our two groups merged and tried to live together, and since we are separate groups, problems would inevitably arise between us. We’ve already learned how to scavenge and survive in this place. Those guys stay inside buildings all day, so they probably can’t do much, but we’ve done everything with our own hands.”

“…”

“We also still have a reasonable amount of food supplies, so we’ll make a fresh start here. Thank you so much for suggesting we join you.”

“Well, I won’t force you. Dodam, go bring their bags.”

“Okay.”

Dodam and Seojun brought the group’s bags, and Dayoung took a walkie-talkie out of her own bag and handed it to the woman’s younger brother.

It even had batteries.

“You can charge this, or use batteries. It’s quite a distance from our base to here, but if anything happens, just call us over the radio. We’ll come to help. From now on, we are Team A. You are Team B. We’re apart, but we’re still family. Understood?”

“Thank you.”

“And, I’m really sorry to ask this. It’s getting late. Could you put us up for just one night?”

“Of course. Well, it’s a bit shabby, but please come inside. Have you had dinner?”

“No. I’m starving to death… If it’s not too much trouble, could you provide dinner too?”

At Dayoung’s cheeky request, the Team B group laughed.

They guided Dayoung’s group to the dining area and began bringing out the remaining food. It wasn’t very varied, but it seemed they had gathered and stored supplies well from scavenging nearby.

“There isn’t much variety, but it shouldn’t taste bad. Here, dig in.”

“That building next door might be a bit difficult for you to use, but if you leave it as it is, the smell of rotting corpses will probably make it even harder for you.”

“We’ll take care of cleaning that building. There’s food and supplies in the basement of that building anyway. They stored everything in that building.”

“Ah. So that’s why there was someone standing guard near the entrance.”

Dayoung ate the warm porridge and unpacked her bag, shaking it out thoroughly. While her military backpack was full of food, she had also stuffed the small backpack full, and it seemed she had her own plan.

From the bag, she pulled out a 1 kg bag of rice and some canned goods.

Then, she took the military backpack from Dodam, set aside food for the next day, and took out all the rest.

The military backpack mainly contained snacks, but the members of Team B cheered.

The leader’s group rarely gave out snacks easily, so their eyes sparkled at the sight of sweets after such a long time.

“This is in return for letting us stay and preparing dinner for us. It’s not much, but please accept it.”

“Thank you. We don’t even know what or how much is in the warehouse. We gratefully accept it. You’ve helped us like this, and we should be the ones treating you. We’re sorry.”

“Not at all. This warm dinner and a place to sleep are more than enough.”

The group ate dinner and lay down on the prepared blankets.

Dayoung quietly called the younger brother who had handed her the walkie-talkie and went outside with him.

“What’s going on?”

“How many people are here in total?”

“Excluding the people in that building, there are 22.”

“I don’t think there’s that much food here either. There were a lot of idle people, and many mouths to feed. If you go south from here, there’s a large mart. Let’s go together when we leave tomorrow. I saw it on the way here, and it didn’t seem to have been looted yet. However, we have to turn in a different direction before reaching that mart.”

“Really?”

“Yes. We’ll clear out the zombies around here a bit before we go. Don’t worry.”

“Thank you so much! Boss.”

“Oh, I’m not the boss! The tallest person in our group, he’s the boss. He’s just feeling helpless because of his younger brother’s situation. He’s the boss.”

“Ah.”

The man was flustered by Dayoung’s words.

No matter how he looked at it, Dayoung seemed like the boss, but she wasn’t. But who the boss was didn’t matter to the man.

“I’m Shin Hoyoung. Thank you so much for your help.”

“I’m Kim Dayoung. It’s in times like these that we need to help each other and survive. Isn’t that human decency? Well, let’s head inside now.”

“Yes!”

The next morning, Dayoung’s group finished the breakfast provided by Team B’s group and packed their belongings.

Dayoung, who had come outside with Team B’s scouting team heading to the mart, surveyed the surroundings. The barricades surrounding the three buildings.

And the zombies roaming beyond them.

“It seems better to deal with the zombies in this area before we go.”

After checking the barricades surrounding the building, Dayoung removed the silencer from her rifle and pulled the trigger twice into the air.

Bang— Bang—

At the loud noise, the zombies began gathering near the barricades, and the group started pulling their triggers without hesitation.

Team B’s group watched Dayoung’s group with wide eyes.

While all members had high accuracy, Dayoung’s accuracy, who had reattached her silencer and begun shooting again, was especially incredible.

“That’s so cool.”

“Right. Does that make sense for her small frame?”

The eyes of the two rescued women were filled with affection.

After Kim Dayoung’s group finished dealing with the zombies, the two women approached Dayoung.

“Noona Dayoung, you’re so cool.”

“Ah, not at all. Don’t embarrass me… Jiyoung and Mihee noona can be plenty cool too, you know?”

“Of course!”

The three of them, who had grown close by talking all night, shared a light hug.

“Thank you for yesterday and today. And since there are many young men here, I’ll say this in advance. I discussed it thoroughly and gave pistols to Hoyoung and Mihee noona’s father. It’s because there are female family members; it’s meant for protecting the family. As you know, women are extremely precious now. They are not to be treated carelessly. Understood, young friends?”

“Yes!”

“We understand!”

Only after hearing the group’s response did Dayoung and her group say their goodbyes and move out with the B-team scouting unit.
