Let’s talk about the butler, two weeks ago. The butler wanted to faint when Cassis didn’t show up at the airport. The Young Master had been acting strangely and causing a ruckus all year. At first, he thought it might be a desire to rebel against the decision of being sent to the academy, which was no different from exile.

After all, Cassis de Millang was a powerful being who had no need to enroll in the academy.

‘…Among the Players who lack a unique name, he is overwhelmingly so.’

However, if the head of the family ordered it and the council of elders agreed, it was only proper for the young head to follow. That is why Cassis de Millang enrolled in the academy.

But to notify them that he would be going on a raid of his own accord and then not even show up at the meeting place? Wasn’t the whole point of shoving Cassis de Millang into the academy to prevent him from having opportunities for achievement in the first place? And yet he dares to declare his participation in a raid and then goes off the grid?

Up to the raid itself, it might have been possible to turn a blind eye and pretend it wasn’t a provocation, under the pretext that the council of elders had agreed, but going off the grid was different. Wasn’t that blatantly ignoring the head of the family? It was an excessively blatant act of insubordination. In a situation where Cassis de Millang wasn’t even acknowledged as a ‘proper’ de Millang, such insubordination could become grounds for execution. All the more so now, when the direct escort unit—composed solely of named Players who had mastered unique names, who could only be commanded by the direct line—had gathered for Cassis de Millang!

Even if he was the Young Master, there was no way he could resist if the hounds of de Millang genuinely intended to harm him. If the Young Master had been in a state where he could judge normally, something like this would not have happened.

‘…Don’t tell me he’s already been taken care of?’

Whenever that thought crossed his mind, the butler was so overcome with worry that he couldn’t sit still. He was on the verge of wanting to immediately form a search party and find the Young Master. But the butler could not. The butler did not have the authority to do so.

Soon, the butler hid his trembling hands behind his back, assumed a formal posture, and bowed his head.

“…”

A formidable aura erupted from the man who slowly walked out in front of the butler. His name was Dick Baskerville. A man of a collateral branch who inherited de Millang blood but was from the unfortunate line that was not permitted the surname. However, instead of wasting his life as a profligate, he chose the path of obedience to de Millang to display his natural talents. No, it was loyalty. At least, Dick Baskerville believed so, and he decided to take those who believed the same as his subordinates.

That was Dick Baskerville’s way of polishing the great holy grail that was de Millang. He usually showcased his outstanding skills as a Player belonging to de Millang, and when an order came from the direct line, he commanded the escort unit that would assemble at once.

‘We are of a collateral branch, so we obey the orders of the direct line. However, we do not bow our heads to anyone below them.’

A military group second to one and superior to all, composed entirely of collateral family members who obey, submit to, and are loyal to de Millang. The pack of de Millang’s hounds, Leversa, who sustain with their skill the arrogance of claiming that only they can protect de Millang.

Now, Cassis de Millang had thrown dirt on the lofty pride of the collateral branch.

“…You half-breed.”

Acting up just because you have the council of elders backing you.

There was no way those trailing words weren’t heard. The butler bowed his head even deeper. He wished that they would take their anger out on him instead, if only it would guarantee the Young Master’s safety. This was because Cassis was treated like an experimental animal within de Millang, worse than even the collateral branches, and Dick Baskerville was one of the very few who knew that secret.

However, Dick Baskerville had no intention of showing such mercy to the ‘half-breed’ de Millang. He had received two orders from the direct line. The order to be prioritized was a moderate threat, but if he was going to be this insolent, it should be fine to interpret the order arbitrarily…

Wouldn’t it be fine to clearly show him the price for daring to tarnish the honor of de Millang? How noble the name you falsely carry is. How lowly and cheap you are. How much of…

…livestock you are, with no right to stand in that place.

He intended to engrave upon that soul that a beast does not become a man just by being draped in silk clothes.

Meanwhile, at the meeting place between the de Millang household members and Cassis de Millang, which is to say, me…

“…”

“…”

A suffocating silence continued for a while. The reason was simple. I didn’t tell them they could raise their heads.

What does that mean? To put it simply, it’s like this.

“Young Master! You’ve arrived! Where on earth did you go—!”

“Butler. Where did you pick up the habit of raising your head without permission?”

As soon as the butler came running up breathlessly, I immediately gave him a taste of his own medicine. Honestly, I think it’s the pinnacle of audacity to be the one who took a detour and then nitpick about etiquette first. But the problem was the sight of the burly men following behind him, when all I knew was that the family head and the council of elders had sent an escort to help with the raid.

‘Ugh, it’s those guys, as expected. Leversa.’

They are the product of meticulously gathering the ruffians from the collateral branch who are all built like tanks and brainwashing them into fanatics. Morons who, if de Millang orders it, will happily run east with their tails wagging and fetch a ball from the west.

‘Cassis de Millang at least had values he was trying to protect in his heart, but what the hell are you guys?’

I hated Leversa in the original novel too. Because Leversa were the sons of bitches who, despite their age, tried to kill young people who had just entered university. Ryuseong was still growing, but those bastards kept attacking him, so didn’t the kid become increasingly worn out and incredibly sexy!

‘Ah, a slip of the tongue. Ahem, ahem.’

Anyway, they were the ones who tormented Ryuseong in all sorts of oppressive ways in the original novel. And having seen Cassis de Millang’s past, there was no way Cassis wouldn’t be a target of their torment as well. Rather, to them, who are oppressed for being a collateral branch, Cassis de Millang would be a target for their inferiority complex to explode upon. I judged that the abuse would be at least on the same level as what was inflicted upon the original Ryuseong. If it got bad, they might follow the family head’s order over the word of the council chairman and try to assassinate me.

But if there was a problem, it was the fact that I was a total weakling.

‘Haha.’

Ryuseong endured it. He endured and later succeeded in getting his revenge. But I was not Ryuseong. If I were tormented with that kind of intensity, would I even stay alive? Damn it.

There was a grand ambition called ‘avoiding assassination’ behind the route I forged from the very beginning, straying from Ryuseong to arrive in Russia. So, you see, I had a plan all along.

And now, the moment I finally faced Leversa.

“…My apologies! I have been rude—!”

“If you know that, then bow your head. Right now.”

I commanded the butler and simultaneously looked at the leader of Leversa. My eyes were curved gently like willow branches, but anyone with eyes could see without needing to ask that a murderous intent glinted within them. When I so insolently lifted my chin and smiled faintly, an explosive killing intent erupted from Leversa’s side for a moment. It was a destructive and violent energy, so strong that a few people from the surrounding tents jumped out in surprise. I, the target upon which all that energy was focused, almost stopped breathing for a second, but when their leader raised his hand, the killing intent immediately subsided into tranquility and was contained.

Only then could I breathe.

‘Whew. Holy shit. If Ryuseong hadn’t been here, I would’ve really died.’

A hidden card no one knows about! I’m at ease because a regressor is on my side. I smiled in satisfaction and looked up at the stone-faced Ryuseong, then spoke gently to the butcher-like men while stroking my nails as if grooming them.

“I said, bow.”

“…”

“Now.”

When dealing with beasts, one must always break their spirit at the first meeting.

And so, to the present.

“…”

“…”

I did not permit the bowed men to raise their heads, and a full thirty minutes passed like that. The people around were murmuring, looking like they wanted to ask what was going on, but I gave them no opening to dare approach and sat there, aloof and serene. Ryuseong took it a step further and placed a cup of warm cocoa in my hand, and I suddenly became a master publicly punishing his household members while sipping sweet milk. Slurp, slurp.

‘Kekeke. I knew it. I knew they’d treat me like a de Millang in front of others!’

Of course! Leversa are pathetic, incapable losers who get drunk on their own pride through self-justification and mental victories, believing they exist to serve de Millang. There was no way they would show outsiders any behavior that would make de Millang look weak—for example, ignoring the young head! That is why I deliberately took a detour. And I arranged to rendezvous with the household in Saint Petersburg.

That way, Leversa, conscious of others’ eyes, wouldn’t be able to treat me like a total weakling out in the open, haha
