“Why didn’t you just come straight into the captain’s cabin… Ah! Could it be that you wanted that stone?”
“…Ah, Your Majesty Empress.”
The ominous shadow turned out to be the empress herself. She looked at me with a gentle smile and nodded her chin.
“So, do you want that stone? To me, it doesn’t look like it’s worth anything at all.”
But that wasn’t true.
I remembered what Coocoo and Krrr had said back at the Sirentium family.
“Coocoo. (I don’t know. Anyway, that stone is a lucky stone that can steal other people’s mana or bring you good luck!)”
“Krrr. (That’s right. I heard the head of the Sirentium family secretly stole it from the Magic Tower!)”
The same stones that began appearing the moment my previously miserable life took a turn. Could there be a reason why this <Lucky Stone> keeps showing up around me? Thinking there might be a secret I didn’t know, I forced a smile and clutched the stone tightly. “Yes, I really want this stone.”
Just then, the emperor, who was inside the captain’s cabin, shouted in an excited voice. “I don’t know what it is, but take it! And hurry up and come in, this place is incredible!”
If even the emperor, who’s seen every treasure imaginable, was this impressed, just how amazing could it be?
The empress and I exchanged secret smiles and at least stepped inside. We finally entered the captain’s cabin of the treasure ship. Before the rare treasures blazing brightly enough to blind the eyes, my mouth fell wide open. It was a dazzling space, as if someone had brought the former emperor’s jewel vault here intact. The emperor, the empress, and I ended up wandering around the treasure ship in a daze.
“That over there is said to be a blood diamond with a chilling legend, more than three hundred years old.”
“This tiara here supposedly uses the largest ruby in the world. Can it even be worn?”
Even the gemstones that looked extraordinary at a glance had simple appraisal notes attached. They’re impressive, but none of them seem like my father’s keepsake…
As I swept my gaze across the cabin, I suddenly froze. In my field of vision was a small, faintly glowing key. The only shabby thing in this dazzling room. What’s more, the faded key felt completely out of place just by existing here. It was stuck right beneath what looked like a control panel, something that should belong in the helm, not the captain’s cabin.
Curious, I reached out to touch the key. Bzzz— I quickly clutched my necklace. I’d felt a brief vibration from it. It’s like it’s greeting an old friend. At that moment, I finally understood what Count Florette had meant when he said that if I had even one of Count Sehera’s keepsakes, it would be easier to find the others.
With a bright smile, I picked up the key. The ancient language densely written across its surface was impossible to fully understand, but one word alone was written in the imperial tongue.
“Mana Berserk?”
My hand trembled as I gripped the key tightly. Thanks to the knowledge the Kalinos family had recently shared with me, I knew exactly what ‘Mana Berserk’ was.
Mana Berserk spell was a magic that temporarily granted mana output comparable to an archmage. It was also a spell that allowed that explosive mana to be used as massive offensive power. However, it was said to only be effective when the caster’s mana heart was large, so it was considered impractical, and research had barely progressed. In short, it was a magic artifact optimized for someone like me, whose mana had been constantly sucked dry by that damned mosquito, to recover mana in the short term.
…Did my father really leave behind a magic artifact that’s tailor-made for me? In that instant, I found myself genuinely grateful to my late father.
Just then, the emperor and empress came closer and spoke to me.
“What are you looking at?”
“Ah, I’ve chosen the treasure I want.”
“Hm, which one?”
“This key.”
As I held it out with a bright smile, the empress’s eyes reddened again.
“Why must you only choose things like that… Even when we’re offering all the precious treasures, you won’t take them? To have no greed at all…”
No, that’s not it at all.

After the emperor and empress, who had formed a strange misunderstanding, sent all the jewels they were giving me to the Florette Mansion, I secretly returned to the Kalinos Mansion carrying only the lucky stone and the key. I hurriedly called out Coocoo and Krrr, who were sleeping in my room. Since there was a magical barrier around the treasure ship, I had deliberately left them behind.
“Guys, have you been well?”
“Coocoo. (Gasp! The invisibility wore off! Finally!)”
“Krrr. (What happened, most respected Lady Giselle?)”
“Guys, take a look at this key. I think the ancient language written here explains how to use it. Can either of you read it?”
“Coocoo? (Let me have a look!)”
It was a moment later. Greedy light filled my eyes. According to Coocoo, this was the greatest mana berserk magic artifact, one that increased 1 unit of mana into 100. Something that could temporarily bring a person close to the level of an archmage!
My eyes sparkled with excitement. Come to think of it, wouldn’t people from great magic families know magic artifact usage the best?
Looking at Coocoo and Krrr, I smiled wickedly. Just like items, connections exist to be used, don’t they?

“I’m a bit tired. Then, we’ll end here for today.”
“Y-Your Grace!”
At the same time, Duke Reshaniel’s side was in quite an uncomfortable situation. Just as there cannot be two emperors in one empire, there can only be one top figure in healing. The higher Wot’s fame rose, the more cracks began to form in Duke Reshaniel’s once-great reputation. So he had to step up and heal even more people. Though he was only healing patients with minor illnesses, ones that didn’t require much healing.
My mana is decreasing faster than expected. With a slight frown, he boarded the carriage returning to the Reshaniel Mansion. Inside sat a blood relative of the family, who served as Duke Reshaniel’s informant, wearing an anxious expression.”
“Wot visited the treasure ship.”
“Ah, yes. I-I apologize. Your Grace… We are trying to somehow gain access to the treasure ship again, so we should be able to reach the second-grade treasure soon… Ah, and that woman apparently doesn’t have much greed.”
“Don’t have much greed?”
“Yes. I heard she only took a random key and a useless stone. The rest were, at best, second-grade jewels. So I thought that perhaps Your Grace would be able to take everything you want…”
The aide watched him nervously. But Duke Reshaniel’s expression turned cold as ice.
“What kind of stone and key, exactly? Are they gold or something?”
“No, just some common junk lying around…”
It seemed Wot had taken exactly what Duke Reshaniel wanted. Duke Reshaniel, trembling with rage, soon regained his composure. “Enough. It appears what I desire has gone into that woman’s hands.”
“T-That, I-I apologize…”
“No, rather, this is better. The treasure ship was under the emperor’s watch, making it troublesome…”
“Pardon?”
He smiled brightly as he spoke. “Since we can’t approach the imperial palace barrier, it would be best to ‘persuade’ Wot to hand it over.”
“Actually, since she was irritating, we already investigated her background, relationships, rumors, and even detailed information about those close to her. She’s such a mysterious person that there wasn’t much data, but…”
Taking the documents from his aide, he glanced over Wot’s personal information, then paused at a passage labeled ‘acquaintances.’
“Delek Giyet.”
“Yes. Shall we bring him in and ‘persuade’ him?”
Duke Reshaniel’s fingertip paused on Giyet’s family relations as he reviewed his personal file. “Ah, no. Not Giyet himself…. It seems the person dearest to him is his grandmother.”
Unlike his aide, who still hadn’t grasped the situation, a refined smile played at the corners of Duke Reshaniel’s mouth.
“How simple. Bring his grandmother to the sanctuary and ‘persuade’ her. Then that fellow Giyet will have no choice but to speak about Wot’s whereabouts, won’t he?” He folded the documents lightly, chuckling. “Well, I trust you’ll handle it. We’ll merely have an appropriate… conversation, won’t we?”
“Yes, of course. I’ll prepare the right people and make sure we’re ready to ‘persuade’ her.”
There was no longer any reason to waste time worrying about someone like Wot. Since the poor Giselle, longing for him, was trapped in the Kalinos family…
“Now then, prepare a crisp white suit and some flowers.” He habitually stroked the ring on his ring finger, smiling tenderly.
With his once-abundant mana now gradually depleting, he could no longer delay his reunion with Giselle. It was sure to be a sweet and romantic encounter. His eyes gleamed with obsessive possessiveness.
