The Master watched me exchange greetings with Eve for a while, then asked Sofia.

“Sofia, nothing unusual happened, right?”

When the Master came home after being out, he always asked Sofia the same question. And Sofia would consistently reply, “Nothing, sir,” so I expected the same answer today.

“Shall I report the unusual activities?”

But today, the answer was a little different. The Master, who had been about to go inside, also stopped and looked back at Sofia.

“Unusual activities? Did we have a guest?”

“There were no guests. However, Eve roamed the entrance for 15 hours, leaving numerous records on the entry sensor.”

The Master looked down at Eve and frowned. My eyes went wide too as I stared at Eve.

Roaming the entrance for 15 hours. No matter how messy the entrance was, cleaning it could not possibly take that long.

“This thing must finally be broken.”

The Master muttered as if stating a fact. He seemed convinced that Eve was broken.

I watched the Master’s reaction and cautiously asked.

“Master, should we take her to Thomas?”

“Unfortunately, Thomas is out of town on a business trip for a while.”

The timing was not good either. At this rate, I felt the Master would say we had to turn Eve off until she could be repaired by Thomas, so I quickly added.

“Then I’ll take a look at her!”

The Master, who seemed to be only annoyed by the broken Eve, gave a casual nod and went upstairs first. I remained alone in the living room and began to slowly examine Eve.

“Where is she broken…?”

Worry came before I could even find the problem. Eve was like a friend I spent time with every day, and I felt sorry that I had not been able to pay proper attention to her recently because I was so preoccupied with my affairs with the Master. I felt a heavy weight in my heart, wondering if that was why Eve had broken down.

With a sorry heart, I examined Eve’s white, smooth, seamless body from all angles.

Suddenly, Eve’s body clicked open. I was startled as her insides were revealed without warning, but I realized Eve had done it out of consideration for me, to make it easier for me to check, and I cautiously peered inside.

Eve’s insides were much more complex than I had thought.

Wires and circuits were intricately intertwined, and deep inside, a blue light, indicating that the power was on, flickered gently. The operation itself seemed to be working fine, but as someone with no knowledge of robots, I could not tell what the problem was no matter how much I looked.

Would the Master know what the problem is? Since he is the one leading a robot company, following in the footsteps of the old master, he would probably be able to tell at a glance.

“Eve, wait here for a moment.”

I patted Eve’s head and went up to the Master’s room.

“Master, may I come in?”

When I knocked on the door, I heard the Master’s voice from inside the room, telling me to come in. As I quietly stepped into the room, the first thing I saw was the Master standing by the window.

The sunlight pouring in through the window shone dazzlingly on the Master. His golden hair reflected the light, sparkling even more brightly, and his blue eyes were as clear and blue as the sky outside the window.

A warm breeze blew in through the wide-open window.

The full spring atmosphere permeated the room. It was now so warm that it felt a little hot even when standing still. I could feel that we were slowly heading towards summer.

The freshly bloomed leaves swayed cheerfully in the wind. The green scenery visible through the window made my heart feel much lighter. It was so peaceful that I wanted to show Sofia and Eve, who only stay at home, how nice the weather had become.

When I came down to the first floor with the Master, I saw Eve waiting for me quietly in a corner of the living room. I looked at Eve and then asked the Master.

“Do you know how to repair robots too, Master?”

“I know a thing or two.”

“Then are you going to fix Eve this time, Master?”

“No, something like this is usually fixed by turning it off and on again.”

I clamped my mouth shut like a clam. A solution more simple than I had expected had popped out of the Master’s mouth, leaving me so dumbfounded that I was at a loss for words.

“Eve, you’ve been waiting long, haven’t you?”

When I spoke to her in a gentle voice, Eve quickly came over to me. Even this behavior was the same as usual, so I had no idea where she was broken. I stopped trying to figure out Eve’s condition and turned to look at the Master. The Master then walked over to Eve.

As the Master reached out his hand to inspect Eve, Eve slid backward. At first, I thought it was just a coincidence. The Master did not seem to think much of it either and reached out again, but Eve dodged his hand once more, and this time, she hid behind me.

It was a movement that was clearly avoiding the Master’s touch, for anyone to see.

“This hunk of junk…”

The Master quietly gritted his teeth.

For a moment, a sharp tension flowed between the two. The Master narrowed his brow and stared at Eve, and Eve did not budge from behind me. I was caught in the middle, my eyes darting back and forth as I just watched the situation.

The first to break eye contact was the Master. He straightened up and turned his head.

“Master, what about the check-up…?”

“Don’t need to. Seeing how she is, she’s fine.”

“……”

The Master waved his hand as if he did not want to bother with it anymore. I was still unable to shake off my worries and looked at Eve.

“Ah, Master?”

“Stop worrying about that thing and come here.”

I was contemplating whether I should at least take a closer look at Eve, when the Master suddenly hugged me from behind. I turned back in an awkward posture, and the Master grabbed my chin, turned it, and kissed me.

“Eu-eung…”

Our lips met softly.

The Master bit my lower lip and lingered. I opened my mouth, thinking he would mix his tongue with mine right away as usual, but the Master just kept our lips pressed together for a long time. I was the one who got impatient first and slightly stuck out my tongue, lightly licking the Master’s lips.

I could feel the corners of the Master’s mouth lift. The Master tilted his head, kissed me deeply, and then devoured me as if to eat me whole.

The tongue that explored the inside of my mouth was hot. As if infected by that heat, my body also began to slowly heat up.

It was definitely a light kiss, but at some point, my breathing had become rough. It felt as if the atmosphere that had been interrupted by the interview in the Master’s office was continuing here.

I pushed the Master away, startled.

The Master turned his head and looked at Eve. Eve was standing there blankly, watching us with her black camera.

“E-Eve? Where are you going?”

The Master and Eve exchanged a brief glance, and then Eve suddenly started rolling her wheels and disappeared somewhere. The sound of her wheels quickly became too distant to hear.

“For a robot, she sure has some sense.”

The Master chuckled, then kissed me again. Now that I had no excuse to push the Master away, I did not avoid it either.

I was pushed back step by step by the force that was subtly pressing against me. I stumbled backward, but I tried my best to accept the Master, who was kissing me persistently.

Then my legs hit the sofa. I lost my balance and fell onto the sofa, but the Master did not stop and continued to kiss me.
