Yeom Juwan and Han Boram were sworn enemies.

They did reconcile midway through the story, but before that, they were at each other’s throats, ready to tear each other apart.

‘But that was when Yeom Juwan had gone dark.’

The original Yeom Juwan didn’t hold back his harsh words.

Whenever he saw Han Boram, he’d say things like she was gloomy, creepy, frustrating, a walking curse doll—all kinds of hurtful remarks.

It was tsundere-style nagging, telling her to fix herself because living like that was a loss, but since he said it so meanly, his true intentions never got through.

But all of that was in the past.

My current Juwan was an angel, yet… he seemed strangely wary of Han Boram.

‘Is it because of the physical contact?’

Maybe he’d sensed Han Boram’s unpleasant mana and his protective instincts had kicked in.

Or could it possibly be… jealousy?

Because he was afraid of losing Yeon Sora?

I was about to ask carefully when Yeom Juwan spoke first.

“I’m glad you made a friend.”

“Hm?”

“Han Boram. She’s the first same-gender friend you’ve made, right?”

“Yeah, she seems like a nice, good kid.”

“But she seemed uncomfortable with me being around.”

Yeom Juwan’s expression darkened rapidly.

It might be needless worry, but I suddenly felt anxious.

If, by some chance… a conflict broke out between those two over ownership of Yeon Sora?

“Don’t go around with just her—if you’re going somewhere, call me too.”

My baby, don’t do this!

You two can’t fight!

We’re all one family!

I was busy organizing persuasive arguments in my head when Yeom Juwan suddenly put on a caring smile.

“It’s dangerous for just the two of you to go around. You have a weak constitution, and Han Boram looks fragile too, so I’m worried.”

Han Boram was absolutely not weak.

She was this world’s strongest sorcerer, you know?

But judging by appearances alone, she was a petite girl standing at 155 cm.

“You two got picked on at the welcome party when you were alone together, right? We can’t have something like that happen again, so take me with you no matter what.”

So that’s what it was!

My Juwan was trying to embrace and protect even Han Boram!

I deserved to die for having such vulgar suspicions as ‘could he be jealous.’

As if an angel would have such ugly emotions!

“So don’t go around with just her. Got it?”

“Yeah!”

“Promise?”

“Promise!”

The more I look at my kid, the more he’s the real deal.

How can someone be this mature at this age!

How can his heart be so vast!

This old lady’s heart is going to melt!

4.9 out of 5 points!

Because my baby has no flaws!

While I was enthusiastically gushing internally, we arrived at the medical wing.

But there was an unexpected figure standing at the building entrance.

“Cadet Yeon Sora? We meet again.”

Why are you here?

The unnie in the white coat was someone I’d seen before.

The master of detecting fake illnesses from the awakening test site.

* * *

“The male student will have to wait here. The lab is off-limits to outsiders.”

“Lab…?”

“You submitted an inquiry about mana exhaustion, right? This field is still in the clinical research stage, so the relevant equipment is in the lab. Shall we go?”

The unnie escorted me away.

We took the elevator down to basement level six and walked down a long corridor… where every door had ominous signs posted.

A yellow background with a fan-like symbol.

“Isn’t that the radiation symbol?”

“Haha, it is, but don’t worry! That area is for monster experiments. We can’t use those devices on humans yet.”

That word “yet” is really bothering me.

“Sorry for calling you out so late. I’m nocturnal, so I only come in at night. Anyway, you used a skill thirty times in a row and had no mana exhaustion symptoms?”

“…Yes.”

“I knew it! The academy really does have so many interesting cases!”

This unnie wasn’t a doctor—she was a researcher.

Proof: she was calling me a “case” rather than a “patient.” I felt like a lab mouse who’d voluntarily walked into a mad scientist’s laboratory.

‘Should I turn back now?’

That thought crossed my mind briefly, but I decided to continue with the examination.

Yeon Sora’s excessive frail-constitution setting would definitely become an obstacle later.

Better to fix it if I could.

Most importantly, I’d promised my baby I’d get examined—I couldn’t break that.

“Shall we start right away? It might take a while, but it won’t hurt, so don’t worry.”

After that, I underwent a rigorous examination.

Blood drawn, blood pressure measured, and I was scanned over ten times in something like the MRI machines I’d seen in dramas.

While trapped in the white tunnel enduring the humming sounds, I heard the researcher’s excited screams from outside.

“Kyaaah! I knew it! I just knew it!”

After the examination was complete, the researcher delivered her diagnosis with an extremely excited expression.

“Cadet Yeon Sora, you have pure mana!”

“Pure mana?”

What?

A technical term even this possessor didn’t know.

“You’ve probably never heard of it. You know there are various types of mana, right? There’s the four-elemental mana classified as fire, water, earth, and air, then there’s yin-yang mana, and everything else is called non-attribute mana. But recently, there’s been quite a bit of progress in researching this non-attribute mana. It doesn’t have a name yet, but I call it pure mana. Simply put, if there’s diesel, regular gasoline, and premium gasoline—Cadet Yeon Sora, you run on premium.”

“If it’s premium, that’s good, right?”

“There are pros and cons. The higher the purity, the more powerful it is, but recharging is slow. The cause seems to be that only pure mana in the atmosphere gets absorbed. Refined mana like potions gets absorbed immediately, though…”

Settings that were never described in the novel were pouring out.

“My stats like stamina and strength hardly changed even after awakening—is that also related to pure mana?”

“Hmm, really?”

The researcher propped her chin up for a while before giving an answer.

“The reason awakened people’s stats increase is because mana seeps into muscles, blood vessels, and so on and strengthens them. Pure mana accumulates slowly in the body, so that might be why. It takes a long time, but once strengthened, your stats could increase several times more than others.”

“So I’m a late bloomer?”

“No. Conversely, pure mana might not be absorbed into the body at all. In that case, your stats would never increase.”

Jackpot or bust.

It was one or the other, but she didn’t know which.

“Like I said, research in this area is just starting. If we do clinical experiments, we’ll figure it out quickly.”

At the word “experiments,” a dangerous light blazed in the unnie’s eyes.

“Four times a week, just two hours each session—we could uncover the secret within half a year! And I just happen to clock in at 7 PM, so it won’t conflict with your class schedule at all, Cadet Yeon Sora!”

“No, I’ll pass on the experiments.”

“What?”

“I have a choice, right? I don’t want to do clinical experiments.”

Having four sessions a week, two hours each, eating into my time would be a problem.

Possessors are busy.

When I indicated my refusal, the researcher unnie made a face that said, “What kind of nonsense is this?”

“Cadet Yeon Sora, you did understand me correctly, right? I’m saying if we uncover the secret of pure mana, you could become several times stronger! Don’t you want to get stronger?”

“I’m satisfied enough as I am.”

Actually, becoming too strong would be problematic.

What if I end up pushing my babies off their stage?

The skill-copying ability alone is already a munchkin-level setup.

“If we leave this alone, phenomena like mana rampage or mana reversal might occur.”

“Then I’ll come find you when that happens.”

“If you participate in clinical experiments, I can give you research funding! Think of it as pocket money…”

“I have enough money right now.”

“I’ll put your name as a co-participant! I’ll discuss with the academy about giving you credits too…”

“I don’t particularly have academic ambitions either.”

This unnie is persistent.

“This is for the advancement of humanity! Mana research is a field that desperately needs study!”

I couldn’t exactly say I was already doing destruction prevention activities for humanity…

“Right now, I’m overwhelmed just trying to adapt to school, so I don’t have the capacity. But if you give me your device number, I’ll contact you later when I have the time.”

According to Gyeon Junhwi’s teachings, you should always keep opportunities open.

Don’t bite at good offers too eagerly, and don’t reject bad offers outright.

If there’s no time limit, it’s better to step back, think it over, and then decide.

‘Not bad.’

If I keep this unnie as a contact, I can make emergency calls when something’s wrong with my body.

I could also use her later if I run out of money or need credits.

Anyway, it was worth coming all the way to the medical wing.

* * *

When I returned to my room, it was close to midnight.

I felt like I’d collapse into sleep, but there was still a lot to do.

First, I had to write in my diary so I wouldn’t forget this precious day with my babies.

Next was the intimacy check.

【Viewing intimacy with characters.】

▷ Yeom Juwan (Lvl. 99, Intimacy 99%)

▷ Gyeon Junhwi (Lvl. 99, Intimacy -17%)

▷ Ha Seonwoo (Lvl. 79, Intimacy 35%)

▷ Min Dorim (Lvl. 53, Intimacy 28%)

▷ Ki Hyeonmin (Lvl. 99, Intimacy -87%)

▷ Han Boram (Lvl. 99, Intimacy 96%)(⇧5%) (+) [1]

What?

My intimacy with Han Boram had increased again.

It was 91 when we parted…

By the way, now that I’m over 90%, could I use Han Boram’s skills too?

【Level too low to view.】

【At current level (Lvl. 1), only characters ranked 1st–5th in bias rankings are accessible.】

Ah, right, there was that.

Accessible characters were ranks 1 through 5.

Unfortunately, Han Boram’s ranking was 15th.

Actually, when I first started reading <On the Brink of Destruction>, I didn’t like Han Boram.

She was a nuisance character who only thought about romance while my baby was desperately working on destruction prevention, and whose jealousy would explode if he didn’t pay her just a little attention.

It wasn’t until the scene where Han Boram died that I understood. That this child was also my baby. Tears poured endlessly, and my heart was torn into a thousand pieces.

My feelings about Han Boram are still complicated.

She is my baby, but for someone like me with a frustration allergy, Han Boram’s yandere setting is too great a barrier. (+) [2]

Maybe if she herself was happy with it.

But I got the feeling she was created to be a yandere character and faithfully performed that role until the end.

I was drawn to the Han Boram beneath the yandere shell, but in the original, she never managed to break out of that egg.

【Opening Destruction Prevention TO DO List.txt】

☐ Give Han Boram a life goal other than romance.

– Strip away the yandere shell and help her find her true self!

The list seems to be getting more miscellaneous, but this is also absolutely necessary for destruction prevention.

Anyway.

Looking at the big picture, today was a very rewarding day.

The only regret was that I had overwhelmingly insufficient time with my baby #1.

But it’s fine.

I have tomorrow!

* * *

The next day.

When I entered the classroom, Han Boram came running over.

“S-Sora, did you sleep well? Did you get back from the medical wing okay yesterday?”

“You two got a lot closer, huh?”

“W-we had dinner together yesterday!”

Gyeon Junhwi looked somewhat surprised.

Actually, I was surprised too.

I hadn’t expected Han Boram to run to me instead of staying with Gyeon Junhwi.

“A-and in this class, it’s j-just Sora and me who are girls! There are things only girls can talk about!”

That looked like an obvious provocation aimed at Yeom Juwan.

But my Juwan smoothly smiled and lightly ignored the provocation.

“One person isn’t here.”

Ki Hyeonmin’s seat was empty.

My baby #2 wouldn’t be attending classes for a while.

Regressors are busy in the early stages.

For the time being, his schedule would be upgrading his stats at the training grounds or secretly running external dungeons to farm items.

“Homeroom is starting.”

Professor Joo, who had entered the classroom at some point, narrowed his eyes at the empty seat but continued with the announcements without comment.

“Regular classes begin today. Your class schedules have been sent to your devices. During time slots marked as ‘Free Period,’ you may choose any subject to audit.”

Classes were finally starting.

Yesterday was just the enrollment ceremony and stats assessment, so this was essentially the first real day.

“Also, starting tomorrow, there will be a three-day club recruitment period. At this school, club activities are not optional—they’re mandatory. Keep in mind that you must join at least one club.”

Right, there was that too.

“Yeon Sora, do you have a question?”

“Yes, what’s the maximum number of clubs we can join?”

“……”

Professor Joo paused for five seconds before answering.

“There’s no limit on club activities. Manage it yourself to the extent that it doesn’t interfere with classes.”

No limit—that was great news.

There’s nothing like clubs for bonding with my biases. Especially for meeting upperclassmen, this was the only way.

As for juggling classes alongside it, well, I am a possessor after all—should be a piece of cake, right?

  • 1. TLN: Decided to make whenever this part appear a little bit easier to read with this new format. I should’ve done this early, my bad.
  • 2. TLN: I should also explain this earlier when “frustration” or “frustrating” term appear, sorry again. 고구마 (goguma) literally means “sweet potato,” but in Korean internet/fandom slang, it serves to frustrating plot developments that build tension without resolution, like a lump stuck in your throat after eating dry sweet potato.

  1. This girl… How about joining every club available, attend once, then tell everyone you’re too busy with other clubs to attend?

Also, what the heck is a mandatory club requirement??? Schoolwork, homework, AND student club activities as a requirement, that’s an awful oversaturation of human interactions.
MC is a hidden extrovert, isn’t she.

  2. Seriously, I hope Han Boram will not enter full yendere mode😮‍💨 Hopefully she will have another goal other than romance🙂‍↕️
