For the next three days, the club recruitment fair would be held. I’d arranged to meet the suspects at the fair venue.

“Yeon Sora, Yeom Juwan! Over here!”

“Boram came too? Good! I wanted to invite you but I hadn’t registered you as a friend yet.”

“F-friend registration?”

“DMs, I mean.”

“Did Gyeon Junhwi not come?”

“He said he has something today and couldn’t make it.”

“That’s too bad…”

Gyeon Junhwi had very important possessor duties today.

Same for me.

【Opening Destruction Prevention TO DO List.txt】

——————=

☐ Find the Grasshopper Boss’s subordinate.

Suspects: No Jitae, Lee Hyojun, Park Rahee

➝ Dig into the subordinate’s background to discover the Grasshopper Boss’s identity.

➝ [NEW!] Restrict the three suspects’ free movement.

➝ [NEW!] Join the same clubs as the suspects to conduct surveillance and background checks.

——————=

I’d been upgrading my to-do list all through class today.

I’d reformatted it to be easier on the eyes and reinforced the content too.

And the conclusion I’d reached was—

‘Clubs are definitely the way to go!’

Clubs were an opportunity to bond with people from other classes.

I had to use this to get close to the suspects.

Right, now wasn’t the time to hang out with my babies.

I had to prevent destruction—destruction!

“Ah!”

Suddenly my body pitched forward and I fell over.

Someone had pushed me.

It wasn’t just a bump—I could clearly feel deliberate force behind it.

“S-Sora!”

“Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

“Who was that? They didn’t even apologize.”

The kids helped me up and looked around, but there were so many people it was hard to identify the culprit.

Several passersby shot me contempt-filled glares.

‘Hey, stay away from her.’

‘If we get on her bad side, she might try to kill us too.’

‘How am I supposed to go to school like this?’

Was this talking behind my back, or right to my face?

I could hear the whispering, but I couldn’t tell who was speaking.

Yeon Sora really was hated.

“Don’t pay attention to them, Sora!”

“Give it a week and everyone will forget.”

“Yeah, rumors always fade with time…”

The group hurriedly began comforting me, and in that moment, a lightbulb went off in my head.

Maybe I could… use this?

As Gyeon Junhwi says, everything in this world has utility value.

Even social ostracism could be helpful if used well.

I hunched my shoulders and looked at the suspects.

“You guys should probably stay away from me.”

“What are you talking about!”

“If you hang around someone with a bad reputation like me, you’ll get caught up in it too…”

I fixed my gaze on the ground with the most pitiful expression I could muster, and the suspects took the bait on their own.

“You think our friendship is that shallow?”

“Sora, you saved our lives!”

“Ignore those people! We’ll always be by your side!”

Yes, that’s the response I wanted.

“Really?”

“Of course! Where would we go without you?”

“Thank you… Actually, I’ve been a little scared to go around alone lately. That’s why I asked you to come to the fair together. I feel anxious if the six of us aren’t together like this.”

“Tell us anywhere you want to go! We’ll go with you!”

“Yeah! Don’t let them get you down!”

Yeon Sora would be experiencing social anxiety for a while.

If the six of us weren’t together, she’d show serious anxiety symptoms.

I opened the list again and updated the progress.

➝ [NEW!] Restrict the three suspects’ free movement.

➝ Six-person glued-together system established. Always stick together after school!

If my suspicions were correct, the subordinate would make a move soon.

Because the subordinate would be active during the monster escape incident.

On the day of the incident, whoever tried to break away from our six-person glued-together would be the subordinate.

Not bad for an improvised plan.

Now, the next thing to do was…

➝ [NEW!] Join the same clubs as the suspects to conduct surveillance and background checks.

Join the same clubs.

That wouldn’t be too difficult.

Please just don’t let these guys join any weird clubs!

The fair grounds felt like a festival.

All kinds of booths were set up, overflowing with attractions and fascinating events.

“Try throwing a handmade mana bomb! Pop 10 balloons and get a ‘Concentration Potion’!”

“Try feeding the Fire Hamster! Successfully feed it and win last year’s exam papers as a prize!”

It looked fun, but I couldn’t afford distractions.

Suspect surveillance! Find the subordinate! Background check on the subordinate! Find the mastermind!

As I marched along chanting the slogans in my head, Lee Hyojun, who’d been walking ahead, suddenly stopped.

“Huh? Is this a Payanaga?”

“You recognized it? This one hatched safely last year. Cute, right?”

The creature in the glass display case was a monster.

The club Lee Hyojun was showing interest in was the Monster Breeding Club.

“This is a super rare monster, no? It’s a mythical serpent that lives in the Mekong River—when it goes in water, it spits out fireballs the size of your fist!”

“A freshman who knows his stuff!”

“If I join, can I take care of these guys?”

“Take care of them? Every member who joins gets three Payanagas to keep!”

“It’s mythical-class and you just hand them out like that?”

“Haha, actually we’ve got 50 hatchlings and don’t know what to do with them! Even if they’re mythical-class, they won’t awaken for another 500 years, so until then they’re just cute pet snakes.”

“What about food?”

“The thing is, they only eat live mice. Mice are hard to come by these days… But don’t worry! Club activities include group mouse hunts. What do you say? Interested in coming inside for a membership consultation?”

The Monster Breeding Club president flashed a grin in our direction.

“Could your friends wait out here? Our club only lets prospective members hear the consultation details.”

“You guys go ahead—”

I grabbed the collar of Lee Hyojun as he was about to enter the booth.

“You’re… going?”

In any system, the beginning is crucial.

I couldn’t let the six-person glued-together system fall apart already.

“It’ll just be a minute. You guys look around, and I’ll join you later.”

“That’s not it… If you go… um…”

I told you about Yeon Sora’s separation anxiety.

Guess he wasn’t used to the new system yet.

Let me demonstrate.

Gloomy face, hesitant fidgeting.

Body trembling like a vibrating pager.

The moment I triggered the status condition, the other kids started talking all at once.

“Hyojun, can’t the consultation wait? The application period is three days anyway…”

“Yeah, let’s just all look around together today! It’s more fun when all six of us explore together, right?”

“If you’re not here, who’s going to guide us?”

A beautiful moment when peer pressure showed its power.

Yeom Juwan even bowed his head with a serious expression.

“Please.”

Lee Hyojun scratched the back of his head, looking embarrassed.

“Haha, I’m not going anywhere! I’m the guide here!”

“Right?”

“I can always sign up after we’ve seen everything.”

The immediate crisis was averted, but he clearly looked ready to join.

‘I’d like to prevent that though…’

If Lee Hyojun joined, I’d have to join too for the background check, but I didn’t want some ugly monster as a pet. And I’d pass on the group mouse hunts during club time.

I’d have to think of a way.

Thankfully, the second suspect No Jitae’s interest was normal.

The club No Jitae showed interest in was the Combat Footage Club.

“So this is a ‘Drone Eye’! First time seeing the real thing.”

“They’re not cheap. Set a filming target and it tracks and films on its own. When you use multiple units, they sync with each other and…”

It was decent enough, but not something I was personally interested in.

To join the same club, I’d need to align our interests.

First, let’s find common ground.

“No Jitae, are you interested in combat footage?”

“More like I want to learn filming techniques. Skills are useful anywhere once you’ve got them.”

“If you’re only interested in the techniques, what about the Broadcasting Club?”

“Broadcasting Club?”

“I heard someone mention it earlier—they lend out Drone Eyes too and teach filming techniques.”

The Broadcasting Club was a club that produced campus broadcasts.

It was also the club that my bias, who’d be enrolling next year, would join.

“If you join the Broadcasting Club, you can film upperclassmen’s sparring matches, and sometimes even interview famous hunters who visit the school. Learn filming skills and build connections. What do you think?”

No Jitae smirked as he watched me explain enthusiastically.

“Yeon Sora, you want to join, don’t you?”

Busted.

“You’re hesitant to join alone, but asking us to join the same club feels like too much, right?”

“Huh?”

“You can just ask that kind of thing directly. I don’t care where I join as long as I learn the skills anyway.”

I didn’t know why, but he was interpreting things in my favor on his own. This guy, he’s kind of nice… no wait—

‘Don’t let your guard down!’

One of these three suspects had tried to kill nearly 50 people. They’d continue aiding in the deaths of dozens, hundreds more, and contribute to the destruction.

I had to keep my wits about me.

Now the only one left was the final suspect, Park Rahee.

She said she was interested in the Meditation Club, so we went there—and ran into an unexpected person.

“Min Dorim sunbae?”

“Yeon Sora! Yeom Juwan! Did you come to honor your promise to the dorm head?”

I was surprised.

Since only Min Dorim’s student council activities appeared in the story, I hadn’t known which club he was in.

Min Dorim winked at me.

“Looks like you took my advice well? A bit heavy-handed, though.”

“Thank you for that. But sunbae, you were in the Meditation Club?”

“Haha, it’s the best place for coasting.”

At Min Dorim’s remark, Park Rahee’s face went stiff.

Park Rahee had said she genuinely wanted to do mindfulness training, not coast.

This needed quick damage control.

“This person jokes around a lot, but he’s actually pretty great. Dependable, and a good listener when you need advice!”

“I-is that so?”

“Rahee, you said you didn’t want a club tied to any specific religion, right? Wouldn’t the Meditation Club be the best option?”

When I dropped an obvious hint that Park Rahee wanted to join, Min Dorim approached with a serious expression.

“Not wanting a religious club means you don’t want to depend on external things. That’s wise—truly strong people have inner strength.”

Min Dorim wore a calm, gentle smile.

The frivolous attitude from moments ago had vanished completely.

My baby really can act.

“Life inevitably throws things at us we can’t control. When that happens, the ability to step back and observe without getting swept up in emotions is crucial. The Meditation Club is a place for that kind of training.”

With a serious expression, his entire aura was different from before. His composed voice paired with his handsome features created quite a sight, and Park Rahee signed the membership application as if enchanted. I signed right after her.

‘Perfect!’

Now I could keep an eye on a suspect while spending time with my baby #6—two birds with one stone.

Suspect surveillance was the priority, but I might as well squeeze in some fan activities while I was at it.

* * *

After that, things went smoothly.

Han Boram joined the Props Production Club as in the original. She’d use materials obtained there to craft eerily realistic curse dolls.

Yeom Juwan faithfully followed the original and joined the Stray Animal Care Club.

“We’ve done a full lap? What now?”

Lee Hyojun looked ready to dash off to the Monster Breeding Club any second.

“Are you sure we saw everything?”

“We went to all the booths, didn’t we? Why, is there a specific club you’re looking for?”

“Hold on…”

I opened the pamphlet I’d received at the entrance and checked the booth information. Sure enough, there was one place we’d missed.

“We haven’t been here yet.”

“Th-there… You can’t!”

When Lee Hyojun saw which club I was pointing to, he suddenly turned pale and cried out.

“Why?”

“I really don’t object to much, but that place is seriously no good! The members are all out of their minds, and the president is super strict…”

I was now certain this was the club I was looking for, but I asked one more time just to confirm.

“Who’s the president?”

“Someone famous—last year’s freshman representative. Yoo Seoha…”

Just as I thought.

The club I’d pointed to was the Strategy and Tactics Club.

And Yoo Seoha was ranked 5th on my bias character ranking.
