Strategy (2)

In the report written by the Australian Management Bureau, it was stated that after entering a defensive stance, the Mountain Turtle had not moved at all for nearly eight hours.

That meant if they simply left it alone like this, the Mountain Turtle could remain completely motionless until the invasion event ended. And if that happened, everything would truly be over.

In a way, the worst possible raid monster had been set as the main gate boss… and because of that, Seon Yul absolutely could not leave it as it was.

Point strike.

Concentrated fire.

These were the two key concepts Seon Yul had in mind for this battle.

With a GAU-19 set on his left and a K4 on his right, Seon Yul took position at the very back of the elongated space he had designated as the combat zone within Absolute Space.

The distance from there to the entrance was approximately 16 meters.

Once he had taken his position, Seon Yul began the battle by hurling all twenty fragmentation grenades he held in both hands toward the front at once.

Kwaaaaaaaang!

All the grenades exploded inside Absolute Space, but their firepower naturally transmitted to the shell of the Mountain Turtle that was pressed up against the entrance to Absolute Space.

At one point, he had even considered acquiring something like white phosphorus to set the entrance ablaze, but he abandoned that idea for several reasons (toxic gas might fill Absolute Space, or the fire might spread inward).

Instead, determined to pour in all the firepower he possessed, Seon Yul threw the grenades en masse and immediately activated the GAU-19.

Wiiiiing—dududududududu!

12.7×99mm NATO rounds poured forward at an incredible speed.

The moment they passed through Absolute Space, they slammed into the Mountain Turtle’s shell.

Moreover, Seon Yul suppressed the GAU-19’s recoil with his left arm as much as possible, forcing all the rounds into a single point roughly the size of a human head.

This was point strike.

Bracing his legs firmly, Seon Yul then grabbed the K4 set on his right.

“Hoo…”

Letting out a long breath, he tightened his grip with his right arm and pulled the K4’s trigger.

Thump-thump-thump-thump-thump!!

Unlike ordinary gunshots, a different kind of sound rang out as it rapidly launched 40mm dual-purpose high-explosive rounds.

And then…

Kwaaaaaaang!

They exploded.

The dual-purpose high-explosive shells detonated as if colliding with the entrance of Absolute Space.

Seon Yul also tried to land these explosive shells on the same point he had designated earlier.

Of course, the K4’s recoil was even worse than the GAU-19’s, so it wasn’t easy… but Seon Yul gritted his teeth and endured it.

No… he overcame it.

This was inside Absolute Space.

Within this domain, where his hyper regeneration ability could function at full capacity, his physical capabilities surpassed even most enhancement-type users.

Perhaps that was why he accomplished what seemed like a miracle… controlling two monstrous machine guns with both hands.

Pouring two different types of ammunition from the GAU-19 and K4 precisely into the point he had chosen, Seon Yul created perfect point strike and concentrated fire.

Now, all that remained was to keep piercing the supposedly unbreakable shield until it broke.

Who was it that said…

If a door doesn’t open, you keep knocking until it does?

Seon Yul intended to do exactly that.

More precisely, he would keep smashing the door with everything he had until it shattered.

Dududududu, thump-thump-thump-thump-thump.

Kwaaaaaaaang!!

A one-sided assault and a one-sided defense.

No one knew which would win. But one thing was certain: offense had always held the advantage over defense.

Seon Yul’s arms broke at least ten times, healing each time again. Muscle ruptures and recovery are repeated almost in real time.

Damage accumulated and healed across his entire body in an endless cycle. Without hyper regeneration, he likely wouldn’t have lasted even five minutes.

But even so, Seon Yul endured.

For a full hour.

Not only his body, but even the GAU-19 and the K4 had long surpassed their limits.

Seon Yul endured through the power of super regeneration.

The GAU-19 and K4 endured through Absolute Space’s condition-maintenance setting.

It was forced endurance in every sense… but the firepower created by that force was truly immense.

And the defensive power of the Mountain Turtle, enduring that firepower for an entire hour, was equally immense.

“Tch… It should be breaking through by now, shouldn’t it?”

He was holding on thanks to hyper regeneration, but mentally, he was nearing his limit.

The crushing fatigue pressing down on his entire body was the problem.

Hyper regeneration restored the body, not the mind.

If he collapsed unconscious at this very moment, it would not have been strange at all.

“The ammo’s almost gone…”

Cha Seong Hyeon had worked hard to supply high-explosive rounds, but after firing like a madman for an hour, the K4’s ammunition was nearly depleted.

In truth, the rounds were more expensive than expected, and the K4 was never meant to sustain this level of continuous fire.

It had been designed for high-speed automatic fire, but mechanical limitations required cooldown periods after a certain amount of shooting.

Yet Seon Yul had pushed it relentlessly for an entire hour.

And now he was nearly out of ammunition.

“At this rate, I won’t break through!!”

At that very moment…

Crack… crrrrrack.

A fissure appeared in the Mountain Turtle’s shell, which had remained steadfast for an hour.

More precisely, a crack formed at the exact point Seon Yul had struck over and over.

“Hah!”

Seeing the crack, Seon Yul immediately poured in even more firepower.

And at last…

Kwaaaang!

A hole was punched through.

The hole itself wasn’t very large, only slightly larger than a human head… But that was enough to attack through it without much difficulty.

Seon Yul pushed the now-spent K4 aside and centered the GAU-19, resuming fire.

Dudududududu!

He poured bullets into the hole.

Now it felt different.

Before, it had felt like punching a solid wall.

Now, it felt like punching directly into the opponent’s face.

Seon Yul drove the rounds deep into the Mountain Turtle’s head inside the hole.

But the response was weaker than expected.

This wasn’t the reaction he had wanted.

From the very beginning of planning this strategy, this moment had been the most important.

If the reaction he anticipated did not occur here, his entire plan could collapse.

“This isn’t good…”

While feeding every round from the GAU-19 into the hole, Seon Yul frowned slightly.

According to the Australian Bureau’s report, the head and legs received damage like normal monsters.

If that were true, the 12.7×99mm NATO rounds he had poured inside should have accumulated as damage.

And if so, the Mountain Turtle should have reacted.

“Is the damage per shot too low?”

The 8,000 rounds per minute from the GAU-19 were like a torrential downpour.

Naturally, each round’s damage was relatively low.

It was far from a heavy, single-strike ‘nuke.’

Seon Yul formed a hypothesis.

To properly wake a Mountain Turtle in defensive stance, perhaps he needed something capable of jolting it awake in a single blow.

That was his assumption.

“Then I’ll have to use it.”

He hadn’t completely overlooked this possibility.

He had prepared a final option in advance for just such a situation.

Click…whirr.

Seon Yul ceased fire.

If his next option failed, he could always resume shooting.

“Hoo…”

He let out another long breath and turned his body around.

Behind him stood a long spear radiating dark energy in real time.

“A vicious curse that shaves away vitality by percentage… If this works even on a raid monster, waking the Mountain Turtle won’t be difficult.”

Shrrrrk.

For multiple reasons, Seon Yul tightly wrapped wire around the spear’s tip.

Zzt!

“Ghh!”

Immediately, the curse traveled along the wire and began inflicting lethal damage on his own body.

Already mentally exhausted, the returning sensation of this vicious curse tormented him even further.

But he had to endure.

Thud.

Barely holding on through hyper regeneration, Seon Yul grasped the spear with his right hand.

“Hoo, hoo…”

After steadying his breathing…

He slowly approached the entrance.

“In one strike… I’ll wake it!”

[Powerful Strike]

Tssssss.

Charging forward, Seon Yul activated the Powerful Strike he had saved, drawing out all of his strength.

“Uraaaaaah!”

He wrung every ounce of strength from every muscle in his body, combining it with the momentum of his charge, and hurled the spear with all his might.

Whoooosh!

The death-forged spear of curse shot cleanly through the hole he had created and flew inside.

Shrrrrk.

Wire trailed from its end.

Only while connected to its user could the curse continue devouring vitality.

If that connection broke, it would become nothing more than a sturdy spear.

To use it meaningfully, it had to remain connected like this.

“Wake up!!”

Thud!

At the very instant Seon Yul called out to the Mountain Turtle in his heart, the spear flying through the hole struck something inside.

Ziiiiiing!

A powerful vibration of the curse was transmitted through the wire.

It was proof that the spear had embedded properly and was releasing its potent curse.

And at that very moment…

The Mountain Turtle, feeling the powerful curse of a legendary-grade item spreading throughout its entire body, finally awakened from its slumber.

Kiaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

The instant it awoke, it felt excruciating pain radiating from the top of its head and immediately thrust its head outward.

It was instinct, a reflex to push out the spear lodged in its skull.

Had it awakened normally, it would have extended its legs first and risen slowly, its head emerging afterward.

But now, in an emergency, it reacted purely on instinct.

And this reaction…

Was exactly what Seon Yul had been waiting for.

Kwaaaaaaaang!

At a speed unbefitting something called a Mountain Turtle, its head burst outward.

The problem, however, was the space it burst into.

The head that exited the hole naturally passed through the connected entrance of Absolute Space and pushed inside.

The Mountain Turtle’s massive head protruded deep into Absolute Space.

This was the true core of Seon Yul’s strategy.

For this moment, he had risked approaching closely, overrunning and enlarging the entrance by clinging to the head hole.

For this moment, he had endured all that hardship to penetrate the shell.

Everything proceeded exactly as he had anticipated.

The Mountain Turtle had taken the bait he had painstakingly prepared, thrusting its head deep into Absolute Space.

Only then did it instinctively sense something was wrong…

But by then, it was already too late.

With a broad smile, Seon Yul issued the command without hesitation.
