<Episode 63>
Time flew by, and the day finally came for the release of Spade Joker’s main music video.
[Spade Joker – POKER Music Video]
Clover quickly sat down in front of the computer to watch it.
In the thumbnail, the Spade Joker members were standing side by side inside a computer screen.
As the video began, the sound of clicking heels echoed, and the camera angle gradually widened.
“Wow. This is insane. The suits look so cool.”
All members in suits.
It was a concept they had never shown before.
That alone made Clover want to applaud.
The members stood still like mannequins, then with a ding sound, they began to move. They walked forward steadily, then suddenly stopped and sharply turned their gaze toward the camera.
At that moment, the intro started playing.
[Looking straight into your eyes, hiding it again]
The screen changed, revealing Leejoo tied to a chair. He struggled to free himself, but when it didn’t budge, he bit his lip tightly and shut his eyes.
The screen briefly went black, then lit up brightly.
It was a casino.
Lights flashed vividly, and people were focused on their games.
The camera moved quickly and stopped in front of Cain, who was playing a card game.
[The world is originally an unfair game
(The one who wins defines justice)]
Cain tossed a card under the table.
The camera followed the card.
It landed at Juseok’s feet. Without expression, Juseok stepped on it.
No one at the table noticed that they were helping each other.
Juseok calmly rolled the dice.
The result was 6 and 1.
Seemingly dissatisfied, he clicked his tongue briefly and slid the card under the table where no one else could see.
[What do you keep expecting from me
(TOO BIG DEAL)]
Heeseo raised his eyebrows toward Cain. Cain then won the card game and stood up with the chips.
The three naturally left the casino and met in the hotel lobby.
Cain handed all the chips except one to Heeseo and walked away.
As he tossed the chip into the air and caught it, the scene changed.
It was a bar inside the hotel.
Zen was sitting alone, drinking a cocktail. Cain flicked the chip toward him.
[To you, I’m, I’m um
(Get tense)]
After checking the chip, Zen stood up and hurried somewhere.
He arrived at a restaurant inside the hotel. Sora was eating alone there, not paying attention to Zen approaching.
Zen dropped the chip in front of her. Only then did Sora look up at him.
[We’re on the game board
Who will end up in whose hands]
Sora picked up the chip and handed it back, but Zen shook his head.
She looked confused.
Zen raised and lowered his hand lightly, as if telling her to handle it herself.
Sora placed the chip on the table and resumed eating.
The camera reflected off a glass window, then seemed to get sucked in, shifting the perspective.
[I can’t lose
Start the game]
A group choreography scene followed.
Spade Joker covered their faces with their hands, then waved to the left, as if removing masks.
[I’m not as loose as you are]
In the chorus, there were almost no lyrics… only beats.
The choreography became more intense.
To Clover, it looked so demanding that she worried about their joints. When they jumped and landed on their knees, her hand instinctively covered her mouth.
“What is happening to our boys, seriously?”
As the second verse began, Leejoo reappeared, still tied to the chair.
As he struggled, the hotel room door opened, and Zen rushed in with urgency.
He pulled out a small knife and cut the ropes.
[Let’s see who becomes stronger
(It doesn’t matter
The result is obvious)]
Freed, Leejoo rolled his stiff arms and stood up.
The two exchanged glances and nodded, then began searching the hotel room.
[Baby
You already know
Who you just messed with]
Leejoo grabbed a document from a drawer, then quickly exited the room.
Sora, Cain, Juseok, and Heeseo joined one by one.
[I can’t lose
Start the game]
As the chorus played again, mysterious men in white suits appeared and surrounded the members.
[I’m not as loose as you are]
Spade Joker broke through them and ran desperately.
[I can’t lose
Start the game]
The men in white suits grew tired and stopped one by one, but the members kept running at the same pace without showing fatigue.
The hotel entrance gradually came closer.
[I’m not as loose as you are]
At the entrance, the members turned to look at the men in white suits.
They were panting heavily, glaring at them.
[I got the crown]
After finishing the final part, Spade Joker flopped onto their backs.
They had escaped the hotel.
The camera zoomed out further and further, returning to the initial scene of Spade Joker inside the computer screen.
Text appeared above the computer.
[YOU WIN]
Then, a ding-ding-ding arcade-like sound effect played.
And the music video ended.
***
↳What? I thought this was the film music video, but this is just the regular one? I can’t believe it.
↳They basically dropped a full-on noir movie.
↳Now I’m actually excited for the film music video.
↳But why isn’t Kang Woojin in it? I kept waiting for him, but he never showed up.
↳↳Same LOL I kept wondering when he’d appear, and when he didn’t, I even rewatched it thinking I missed him. But nope, he’s not there. Yeah… there’s no way I’d miss a handsome guy.
↳So Spade Joker were characters inside a game?
↳↳Seems like it.
Clover wasn’t satisfied with just reading the comments, so they immediately went on social media.
[John Raid Lombardi, please hit me for doubting you. You have every right.]
↳Same here. Please just curse me.
↳Me too.
↳I’m sorry. I’ll never doubt you again.
[This song is completely different from their last album. It’s fascinating how one group can have such diverse colors.]
↳Exactly.
↳You’ve gotta stan talented idols. That’s how you get performances worth watching like this.
↳But the composer is the same as last time.
[According to the composer: the last song was made for himself, but this one was made entirely for Spade Joker. Since their name reminds him of card games, he got the idea of “you need a poker face to play the game” and “I will definitely win,” and wanted to create a song with that vibe.]
↳Where do people even find this info?
↳↳If you look hard enough, it’s out there.
↳So this song was truly made just for Spade Joker? That makes it even better.
[I’m suddenly looking forward to the film music video. This was so well made. It seems like the story was about rescuing Leejoo and escaping the hotel? There was no cringe at all, and the members looked amazing. The styling suits them perfectly.]
↳I love it so much.
↳Even if John Raid Lombardi said an apple was a pear, I’d believe him now.
↳↳Isn’t that a bit much?
↳He is… a god.
↳I deleted all the posts where I worried. I’m just sorry and apologetic. Please forgive me.
[By the way, the album isn’t even out yet, but they released the music video first LOL I heard shipping starts tomorrow.]
↳Maybe because there are two MVs this time, including the film one?
↳↳That makes sense. It probably means they’re confident in the film MV too.
↳I’m excited for the album. The merch looks good this time.
↳I really want to see the physical album.
↳↳Isn’t the album shaped like cards this time?
↳↳↳Yeah. Three versions: Spade, Joker, and Clover. I bought it immediately when I saw the design. Seriously, how is an album a card-shaped keyring? Technology is beautiful.
[Still, is Kang Woojin not appearing? That’s disappointing. I like him too.]
↳Same.
↳Feels like I got tricked.
↳↳Seriously feels like I got tricked… I mean, Spade Joker alone is great, but still… it feels like I got tricked.
