Empress’ Game: Make-up Master Chapter 5 - Feeding You a Big Fly
Wu Sheyue carefully felt it again with her hand. It was indeed a prosthetic. The texture of this prosthetic was different from ordinary silicone, but not too far off. Facing the bronze mirror, she carefully examined the edge of the birthmark and explored for a long time before finally lifting a corner from the part beside the nose that did not adhere conveniently.
This Third Miss was actually wearing a fake birthmark to make herself ugly?
Wu Sheyue looked oddly at Lady Yin. It seemed… the story between this mother and daughter while they were alive had not been simple either.
She was not in a hurry to remove the birthmark. Based on experience, this kind of prosthetic makeup used adhesive. Without knowing what kind of glue it was, tearing it off by force would definitely not work. She still needed to go search the original owner’s room for face-washing tools.
She rearranged the objects inside Lady Yin’s coffin and set everything neatly. The burial goods inside were pitifully few: aside from a mirror, candles, and one quilt, there was nothing. Once Wu Sheyue finished tidying, she finally closed the coffin lid.
This body was rather weak. Just that bit of activity made her break out in sweat. Wu Sheyue sat on the kneeling cushion to rest. It seemed she would need to train again later. Her original physical ability had already failed to meet standards; she wondered whether, after changing bodies, this one might eventually become slightly better.
Wu Sheyue sat quietly for a while. The sweat on her body had not yet dried when a bell-like laugh sounded from outside.
“Third Sister, Second Sister has come to see you.”
Wu Sheyue stood and looked outside. This should be the Second Miss, Chuntao had invited over.
The person entering the courtyard was a pretty young girl of fifteen or sixteen, dressed in pale yellow and willow-green clothing. Holding another food box, she walked over with swaying elegance. With one look, her refined air and attire were clearly on a different level from Chuntao’s. Her proud manner did not seem like entering a mourning hall at all. It was more like strolling through a garden.
After Wu Jinghua entered the mourning hall and saw Wu Sheyue, she stopped in front of her with a half smile.
“Third Sister, how are you today? I heard from Chuntao that she brought you food, but you refused to eat and even hit her. What’s going on with you?”
Wu Sheyue looked Wu Jinghua up and down.
“Yes. I hit her.”
Wu Jinghua had originally thought Wu Sheyue would be afraid and try to explain, so the second sentence she had prepared was immediately stuck in her throat.
She could not hide the disbelief on her face. Her voice rose by an octave as she asked again,
“What did you say? You really hit her?”
Just now, Chuntao had cried and complained with injuries all over her body. Wu Jinghua had not believed her; she had even scolded Chuntao for talking nonsense. Seeing Chuntao stubbornly refuse to tell the “truth,” she had come over herself to make trouble for Wu Sheyue.
But… this fool had never resisted or hit anyone before.
Wu Jinghua was only shocked for a moment, then thought the fool had probably been provoked. Her face turned cold.
“Fine. For Concubine Yin’s sake, since she just passed, Second Sister won’t argue with you. But Father is the one who punished you, and even if you throw a tantrum, you should know your limits. Chuntao brought you food. It’s one thing if you don’t appreciate it, but hitting people is too much, isn’t it?”
As she spoke, she walked over just like Chuntao had and placed the food box directly on the coffin.
“We can’t let you starve either. Eat these things first, then go apologize to Chuntao. This matter won’t be held against you.”
The instant Wu Jinghua opened the lid, Wu Sheyue smelled a strong sour stench drifting out. Wu Sheyue slowly stepped closer and looked sideways. Inside the food box was a plate of sour, rotten food of unknown origin, and three or five flies were sitting on it.
She was supposed to eat this, then go apologize? Wu Sheyue began to feel a deep curiosity toward Wu Jinghua. Exactly who had given this girl such thick skin?
Looking at the food box, Wu Jinghua really could not bear to take the food out herself. She held back for a while before finally calling to Wu Sheyue in a sweet, coaxing tone.
“What’s wrong? You haven’t eaten for two days. Aren’t you hungry? Come see what delicious food Second Sister brought you.”
Wu Sheyue could not help sneering.
“This meal… Second Sister really went to trouble.”
“Why are you being so polite with Second Sister?”
At this moment, Wu Jinghua remembered that Chuntao had said Wu Sheyue could hit people. At first, she had not believed it, so she had not cared. Now, however, she felt a little uneasy. In the past, this little fool would have long since rushed over to thank her. What was wrong with this fool today?
Could it be…
Wu Sheyue suddenly reached into the food box and took out the plate and chopsticks. When Wu Jinghua saw this, the sliver of doubt in her heart completely vanished. See? She had been foolish her whole life. How could she suddenly recover?
Wu Jinghua could not hide the eager expression on her face. She watched expectantly from the side, waiting for Wu Sheyue to start eating.
The flies circled the plate and refused to leave. Wu Sheyue held the chopsticks and silently watched for a long while. Wu Jinghua could not hold back and was just about to remind her to hurry and eat when Wu Sheyue suddenly struck. The chopsticks steadily clamped onto one fly.
Wu Jinghua was left dumbstruck by her action, as if Wu Sheyue had just turned into a fly and then changed back. After catching the fly, Wu Sheyue glanced at Wu Jinghua and swiftly delivered the chopsticks into Wu Jinghua’s wide-open mouth.
Wu Jinghua was suddenly fed a fly. She immediately tried to open her mouth and spit it out, but Wu Sheyue seized her mouth and nose. Wu Jinghua struggled in horror with all her strength, but Wu Sheyue’s strength was astonishing. She pressed down and refused to let go. Wu Jinghua’s pupils shrank. The Wu Sheyue before her seemed terrifying. The ugly birthmark on her face seemed to twist like a demon from hell.
