With that conversation, dinner finally came to an end. There was a lot to think about concerning Banan, the core resting in the underground waterway, and the seeds of disaster known as ‘Blue Tears,’ but since no sharp solutions came to mind right away, they decided to sleep on it first and keep a close eye on the situation tomorrow.

“Then tomorrow, it would be best to stop by the jeweler first and then devise a countermeasure again.”

“…But about those dreadful flowers, can we really not just burn them down?”

Had he truly meant what he said to Banan? Van stared intently at Orma, who was lying beside him and speaking with a face that looked thoroughly annoyed. No, he was absolutely serious. In the first place, Orma was a being who had no reason to sincerely worry about Banan or Siol—nor would he even want to—so he clearly thought it would be grand to just burn it all to a crisp and leave.

It was a miracle enough that Orma was willingly tag-along on a journey with him to stop the destruction of the world, so expecting more active cooperation than this was admittedly unreasonable.

“The core of the waterway is in danger, you know.”

“That is ultimately Banan’s power anyway. There’s no way it would break just from being burned a little.”

“The god Banan might be fine, but Siol will be in danger. Even so, if it’s the flames of the god Muhwi, it would be capable of inflicting damage even on a god, so the core would obviously be destroyed. If the core managing the waterway breaks, there’s no telling what kind of disaster will unfold across the entire city.”

Van, recalling the wretched state of Siol in the game, replied calmly. Orma wasn’t ignorant of that fact either, but either way, he hadn’t been called an evil god for nothing; with a face that looked bored to death, he murmured, “They can all just die then….”

Then, as if something had crossed his mind, his golden eyes flashed, and he spoke with a bright grin.

“How about we pit the disasters against each other? It seems to me those flowers would have no choice but to die if they hit the sunlight. Isn’t that why they hid and bloomed inside the waterway in the first place?”

“Is there a way to do that?”

Plucking the flowers and carrying them away wouldn’t help at all. They would just grow back in that spot. But they couldn’t exactly bring sunlight into the underground waterway….

“We can just gather the sunlight and carry it in.”

“…Pardon?”

“If I loosely spread out shadows, they’ll absorb the sunlight on their own… Well, there’s something like that.”

Orma, who was about to explain a divine authority to a mere human, soon realized reality and turned his head away as if deciding to drop it. Still, if such a method was actually possible! It was a novel approach that a human could never conceive, so the moment his god offered the idea, Van instantly fleshed it out.

“If such a method is possible, it is definitely worth a try! There are fountains around the plaza that are still operating, but seeing how no Blue Tears have bloomed there, it seems they do dislike the sunlight. Thanks to that, though there are people who practically live there under tents, I haven’t seen those flowers.”

“Right….”

“Then while we stop by the jeweler tomorrow, we should look for the area where the sunlight beats down the harshest. People won’t be roaming around such places anyway, so it should be fine to use divine power.”

Orma, who had initially been nodding quietly at the smooth, unfolding words, soon stared at Van with a slightly displeased face and said:

“Do you like saving Siol that much? I truly don’t understand why you’re trying so hard to stop the disaster.”

“Hmm… I just want to resolve Siol’s problem quickly, at the very least.”

“Why?”

Did he take a liking to Banan in that short span of time? Did he like that bizarre blessing called skin care or whatever it was? Orma grumbled, narrowing his eyes.

However, Van’s sky-blue eyes were sparkling straight toward Orma and Orma alone.

“Because you are uncomfortable with Siol, Sir Orma. To be precise, you are uncomfortable with Ms. Banan…. Don’t you want to settle this quickly and leave this place?”

“….”

It was an unexpected answer, but he liked it quite a bit. Orma forced himself to hold back the corners of his lips that were trying to curl up for no reason, adjusted his posture to lie straight, and made it clear he was going to sleep now. At times like this, his quick-witted apostle hurriedly blew out the candle and lay down beside him.

Hmm…. But something felt missing.

Unlike usual, sleep didn’t abruptly wash over him, so when he casually turned his head to look, wasn’t Van blinking his eyes, seemingly deep in thought? Wondering how long he would stay like that, Orma stared at him for a long time, and only then did their gazes finally meet in the dark room.

Van had been in the middle of planning out what to do upon waking up tomorrow. First, they would all go to the jeweler… exchange things for gold bars and gold coins… and then look for the place where the sunlight was strongest…. The thoughts that had been trailing one after another crumbled like dust at the sight of the golden eyes staring blankly at him.

Van, who was about to ask, ‘Why are you staring? Is there something you want to say to me?’, realized his mistake with a sudden jolt and rolled over to face him. Then, raising his hand, he began to pat the chest of Orma—who was a good span taller than him—as if putting a baby to sleep.

Though Orma had thrown a fit at first, asking what kind of nonsense this was, he now couldn’t sleep unless Van did this. Perhaps it was because ‘human sleep therapy’ only worked effectively when accompanied by physical contact.

Now that it had become a habit and a set routine, Orma soon closed his eyes without much complaint. Gradually, a relaxed breathing could be heard, and following another newly formed habit of his, he wrapped his arms tightly around Van.

It was a bit suffocating, but if this was what it took for his god to sleep, what choice did he have?

Before long, Van, who had adapted to this bizarre sleeping habit, fell into a deep sleep while repeating a steady breath.

“…to think, how fascinating!”

“As expected, the power of a god is….”

It was noisy outside. The hallway of the inn, which was normally quiet with hardly any guests, was filled with the sound of excited chatter, breaking Van’s sweet slumber. Having greeted the morning while predictably being held as if crushed in Orma’s embrace, Van slowly blinked his eyes, struggling to clear his mind.

He held him so incredibly tight that even Van’s cheek, which had received the skin care blessing, was squished against the firm chest, to the point where he considered himself lucky not to have awoken with a stiff neck.

At any rate, morning had come, so he needed to get up, but day by day, Orma’s strength as he hugged him grew too powerful, making it difficult to break free. Moreover, doing so inevitably woke him up in that instant, and because the sleeping face looked so peaceful and gentle, he didn’t want to disturb this comfort…. Because the sight was so far removed from an evil god who cursed everything in the world to die, it always made him hesitate.

Still, it couldn’t be helped. They had quite a few things to do today, so it was time to get up and move. Having made up his mind, Van gently called Orma’s name and began to shake him awake.

“Sir Orma….”

“….”

“Please wake up now.”

As he repeated the call to wake up in a raspy, sleep-laden voice, the god finally began to open his eyes slowly. In the past, he would react with extreme sensitivity and sharpness whenever he was awakened, so it was a relief that these days he got up without any particular irritation.

The golden eyes, still drunk with sleep, stared blankly at Van. Pomegranate-red lips parted slightly, exhaling a slow breath as they mumbled.

“…Can’t we sleep more?”

So his morning mood wasn’t getting better day by day after all. Even though the irritated morning grumpiness had turned into a pitiful plea, Van coldly shook his head.

“I am sorry. We have quite a lot of things to do today. You may sleep a bit more, Sir Orma, but I have to get up now….”

Since Orma couldn’t sleep without Van anyway, if Van decided to get up, he had to get up as well. Ultimately, Orma let out a soft sigh and released Van from his embrace. The moment Van broke free from Orma, he immediately sprang up, adjusted his clothes, and took a step toward the bathroom to wash up. To be exact, he intended to take a step.

The reason Van halted his steps was because of a certain thought that suddenly crossed his mind. Van, walking back over to Orma, abruptly snatched away the blanket Orma was covering himself with. Orma, who had been calmly blinking his eyes while lying leisurely on the bed, was flustered by Van’s sudden action, while simultaneously realizing that Van’s gaze was directed toward a rather peculiar spot.

“…Where are you looking?”

“Well, since it’s visible even to the naked eye… it seems you are healthy today as well, sir. I am glad there is a reaction.”

“Get the hell out?!”

Orma hurriedly scrambled up as if ready to hurl his pillow, then covered his lower body with it, huffing and shouting at the top of his lungs. Crazy bastard, how does he get more shameless by the day…? At the sudden inspection, sleep was instantly banished as if he had been doused with a bucket of water.

At that exact moment, the bedroom door flew wide open, and Jaena appeared in a massive fuss.

“Th-This is a disaster! Mr. Van! Sir Orma!”

“Pardon? What kind of disaster…?”

The outside had been noisy, but it didn’t seem to be the type of situation where a fire had broken out or anything. As Van’s eyes widened, Jaena tilted her head and agonized, seemingly confused herself. She kept waving her raised hands up and down, completely at a loss for what to do.

“Well…. I don’t know how to explain it, but anyway, considering what happened yesterday, it’s not a matter to be fine with, so I ran over here!”

“What on earth is going on that you’re making such a noisy racket since first thing in the morning?”

“Ms. Jaena, it is alright, so take a breath and speak calmly.”

At Van’s composed words, the words to convey this situation in the clearest and simplest manner finally flashed through Jaena’s mind.

“Th-The waterways! All the waterways in the city are completely filled with water!”
