Wedding Ending Chapter 10
Min Jaeyoon fixed his gaze on the bandages wrapped around his forehead. Is he hurt more deeply than he looks? The thought crossed his mind that if Kang Seunghyun hadn’t shielded him with his entire body, Min Jaeyoon himself might have ended up in that condition. If that had happened, wouldn’t his father, mother, and Seonoh have been worried sick? He could more than guess the situation just from the fact that the smile had vanished from Jion hyung’s face.
“Drink.”
Wiping his wet lips with the back of his hand, Kang Seunghyun handed over the water bottle, which was half empty after he had gulped it down. Min Jaeyoon accepted it meekly. As he brought the water bottle to his lips, Kang Seunghyun overtly observed the sight. The transparent liquid flowed into Min Jaeyoon’s parted red mucous membranes.
“Do we have a kid too?”
“Pffft—”
Min Jaeyoon spat out the water he was drinking. Kang Seunghyun’s brow furrowed sharply. He actually possessed mysophobia as well. Before he knew it, he stared at the water that had splattered onto his hospital gown with a glare of contempt, and then scratched his forehead. Somehow, his nerves settled at the faintly spreading fragrance of white magnolia. It was something felt subtly only around Min Jaeyoon.
“Cough… cough…!”
As a Recessive Omega, Min Jaeyoon was proficient at managing his pheromones. However, Kang Seunghyun, being a Dominant, possessed a beast-like sense of smell.
Suddenly, he unraveled the bothersome bandages. There was no time for Min Jaeyoon, who was coughing from choking, to stop him. A piece of gauze was attached to the area torn about 3 centimeters behind his left temple.
“What are you doing unraveling that? It hasn’t even fully healed yet.”
Holding the bandages in one hand, Kang Seunghyun looked down beside him.
“Are you worried?”
“….”
Min Jaeyoon was at a loss for words and couldn’t answer right away. Worried…? Moisture gathered on his unclosed lips as they parted. Kang Seunghyun rubbed his chin with the fingertips of the hand holding the bandages. It was an action like a habit of his that came out whenever he was lost in thought.
“The only one you worry about is me, right?”
“….”
“No. It has to be that way.”
Force was naturally applied to Min Jaeyoon’s fingertips. Crunch, the plastic bottle he was holding deforms. Is now the chance? Will his memory return if I hit him on the head once? He tightly gripped the water bottle and brought it to his lips. Let’s just not speak.
Kang Jion, who had been watching the two from a short distance away, asked with his gaze fixed on them.
“When will his memory return?”
Director Im muttered in a low voice.
“There is no guarantee, CEO. It could return as early as tomorrow, or it might never return forever. I cannot assert for sure how many years it will take or in what form it will come.”
As the memories lost up to the point of the accident returned, there was also a possibility that his current memories might vanish. The brain was the domain of God. Even in the medical community, brain research is highly active. It was strictly an uncharted world, much like the universe that humans do not fully know. Thus, Director Im could not give a definitive answer on anything. He merely disclosed cautiously the true purpose of calling Kang Jion here.
“How should I convey this to Chairman Kang?”
Exercising foresight, Chairman Kang Yageon established the current hotel, which is called the social lounge for Alphas. Without him, Yeonjin Group would not be so revered either.
Most people experience their first impression of a country at a hotel. International heads of state frequented Yeonjin Hotel. The public interest was correspondingly high as well. People wondered what would happen inside it.
Besides that, Yeonjin Hotel was a place that decided the success or failure of negotiating deals, and looking further, a place that made people realize the level of Korean architecture. Therefore, Chairman Kang did not tolerate the slightest mistake.
Director Im had no choice but to be filled with anxiety. Chairman Kang was a person who possessed a personality like a lightning bolt from a clear sky. One never knew when it would strike down. Because of that, it was also difficult for Director Im to make a decision on what would be best to do.
He had an obligation to inform him of this matter. It was just that he wanted to avoid an untoward accident like being struck by lightning and dying of electrocution. Yeonjin Group was a reliable backing for Aram Hospital, where Director Im was based. The hospital was receiving overflowing donations to the extent that it could maintain a separate vaccine research institute.
Once Chairman Kang stepped down, the person to look after Aram Hospital would naturally be Kang Jion. This was the reason Director Im had no choice but to deliberate so much. For the sake of his son’s future, he was walking a tightrope between the two right now. Director Im’s mouth cracked dryly like a parched rice paddy field.
“CEO Kang….”
“Let’s observe for the time being. Since his memory might return. After that, I will see how the situation goes and speak to the Chairman directly myself….”
“Why aren’t you answering?”
Kang Seunghyun’s raised voice blended into the conversation of the two. No matter what he said, Min Jaeyoon gulped down the water as if evading him.
“Would you do that for me? If only you would do so, I can rest assured.”
Director Im let out a huge sigh of relief. It felt as though the completely blocked indigestion was clearing up.
“This old man will trust only you, CEO Kang.”
Watching the 모습 of the indignant Kang Seunghyun, Kang Jion turned his body. Before he stepped out of the hospital room, he turned his head back once more to take the two into his eyes. As Min Jaeyoon turned his back completely with a huff, Kang Seunghyun was pattering along over to his front.
“Why do you keep drinking only water! I told you to stop eating and talk.”
Kang Seunghyun placed both arms on his waist. Then, the figure of Min Jaeyoon vanished from his sight. Soon, following behind Kang Jion, Director Im stepped outside as well.
💍
Leaning against the hospital bed, Min Jaeyoon rubbed his burning bare face with both hands. With the nightstand between them, Kang Seunghyun was sitting in the exact same manner on the bed placed side-by-side. Kang Seunghyun, who until a moment ago had been forcing the answer he wanted to hear, had finally climbed onto his bed after hearing the words ‘I’ll only worry about you’ from Min Jaeyoon, who had become exhausted of his own accord.
This is driving me crazy!
Kang Seunghyun is smiling while watching TV. What’s more, he is watching a muted screen that makes no sound at all.
It felt like all the responsibility lay on him. Although he couldn’t tell where things had gone wrong, for starters, he admitted that his mistake of shouting inside the car was significant. Who would have known that the car would slip on the snowy road there? If he had known, he wouldn’t have gotten so angry like that either.
“Jaeyoon.”
Min Jaeyoon’s shoulders flinched as if snagged by a hook. He just can’t get used to it at all. He had never called him in a friendly way. Min Jaeyoon’s chin turned stiffly, assuming a defensive posture.
“Watch TV. It’s very fun.”
Min Jaeyoon’s throat fluctuated finely. Words wondering what kind of ghost-story nonsense that was rose right up to his throat, but Kang Seunghyun was a patient right now. One who was strictly undergoing ‘amnesia’ because of him. Min Jaeyoon gripped and tore hard at the blanket covering his knees as if suppressing his anger.
“Why is your complexion so blue?”
Who do you think it’s because of?!
“Aren’t you hungry?”
“Ah… that’s why you should have eaten earlier.”
Min Jaeyoon bent his waist and rummaged through the shopping bag placed on the floor. It was something Im Dongjin had brought along with the lunchboxes. Excluding the clothes, they were the personal belongings he had in his possession at the time of the accident.
Min Jaeyoon faltered. Beneath the wallet, a tablet and two cell phones were overlapped. Min Jaeyoon picked up the cell phones with both hands. Min Jaeyoon’s was intact, but Kang Seunghyun’s had a shattered screen. On top of that, the tablet he always carried around was also in pieces.
“It’s a ring.”
Before he knew it, Kang Seunghyun, who had poked his head in close, slipped his hand in and grabbed the wedding ring. The corners of Kang Seunghyun’s mouth rise softly.
Why do you keep smiling like that? It’s hard to adapt to. Looking at him like this, it seemed he really had suffered a severe head injury. Min Jaeyoon gave up on bickering and fiddled with his cell phone while leaning against the top of the bed.
The power turned on, and he stared at the cell phone, which didn’t have much battery left.
Secretary Song must be lying in a hospital room right now… Who on earth should I ask a favor of.
Kang Seunghyun’s taste was more fastidious than it appeared, making it difficult to match.
It was right at that moment. Missed call alerts and messages endlessly flew into the powered-on cell phone. It seemed that his mother and father popped up, but they were swept down immediately.
「Min Jaeyoon, what happened? You just appeared on TV.」
「Call me as soon as you see this.」
「…Please, I’ll be praying that nothing happened to you.」
Messages had arrived from his friends, and they had also arrived from acquaintances he hadn’t contacted in a long time.
TV?
Min Jaeyoon abruptly lifted his head. Come to think of it, hadn’t Kang Seunghyun been watching TV just now? Completely ignoring Kang Seunghyun, who was slipping the ring onto his finger, Min Jaeyoon climbed down from the bed and tilted his chin up high.
Min Jaeyoon’s face burned as red as a blazing fire, and then turned black, scorched to an ash-gray color.
