“I’d say the Italian Grand Prix. There are a lot of Ed…’s fans there, and it’s always been a place where he’s done well, right?”

For a moment he hesitated. Whether to use Aiden’s nickname or not. But Ryeoun decided not to back down.

If the bastard wanted to play the friendly teammate, wasn’t it only natural to play along?

After that, the two answered a few more questions. In between, they drank water or adjusted their uniforms for sponsor plugs, but aside from that, nothing特别 stood out.

As if the bitter argument in front of the hotel elevator had never happened, the two looked like fairly close acquaintances.

His cheeks were probably flushed red. He touched his warm cheeks. Fortunately, no one seemed to find it strange.

From beside him, he heard Aiden let out a small pfft of laughter. They’d already let out all their temper in front of the hotel elevator… He must have looked like he was putting on an act.

But wasn’t Aiden the one who started acting first? Ryeoun decided to boldly brazen it out.

“Ed, I believe this year will be a great one for you. Especially since you’ve got me with you now, right?”

At that, the team members standing around burst into laughter. Of course, Ryeoun’s real thoughts were more along the lines of “I’m going to torment you all year long!”

Aiden looked at Ryeoun and smiled softly. Then he brought a water bottle up to Ryeoun’s cheek and said,

“I’m really glad to have you with me this year. You take good care of yourself, and even after a bad race, you bounce right back. I’ll learn from your light and positive attitude.”

Ryeoun’s smile nearly cracked.

The combination of phrases like “take good care of yourself,” “even after a bad race,” and “light and positive attitude” felt like a perfectly veiled insult!

Clutching the now-lukewarm water bottle, Ryeoun squeezed his eyes shut and opened them again.

‘Poker face, poker face.’

He muttered the word inwardly.

“Thanks. I hope you can let go of some of that mental burden and race comfortably too.”

“I will.”

And so the driver content shoot ended.

The moment filming was over, Aiden stood up without even glancing back at Ryeoun.

No formal goodbye to be careful on the way back, no suggestion to go run the simulator together or head to the paddock. Yet none of the team members suspected a thing between them.

“Oh, right. I’ll text you, Ryeoun.”

“…Yeah.”

Because just before leaving the rooftop, the bastard had added that with a smile. As he stood up, Ryeoun couldn’t help but snort.

He felt like he could bet another two thousand dollars that no text would ever come from the bastard.

I know it was confirmed from the Media Day interview that they’re awkward with each otherㅇㅇ

Honestly, the tension was so thick back then lol…. Ed tried to quickly smooth it over, but it was already too late lol

To be fair, being awkward is understandable lol

But after the retirement, Rey didn’t even watch the rest of the race…(just guessing;; it seemed like there were no photos of Rey during Ed’s performance or on the podium)

And when asked if he was worried about Rey, Ed just said “I believe he’ll bounce back on his own” and didn’t really show any extra concern or comfort or help? Like nothing beyond that

So I can’t tell if they’re close or not… lol Is it still just awkwardness?
