Webtoon Side Story: Welcome to Dungeon Hotel Branch 4 (21)

“Are you threatening me right now?”

So, a threat that if this matter isn’t handled properly, you’ll escalate it into a diplomatic issue?

Louisa was dumbfounded.

Dungeon Hotel Branch 4 had suddenly manifested of its own accord, so how could the French Hunter Union have possibly intervened?

Did they genuinely believe that an organization existed capable of affecting Hunter Lee Junghyo’s immense ability known as the Dungeon Hotel?

How could a mere organization do anything about an extraordinary ability like the ‘Dungeon Hotel,’ which had never existed globally and would never exist again?

And that the French Hunter Union had somehow managed to do just that, thereby putting Lee Junghyo in danger?

No.

That couldn’t be it.

Because Kim Junsoo wasn’t a fool.

Louisa stared at the smiling man’s face in the hologram.

He was simply laying down a warning.

A threat to ensure Lee Junghyo’s safety amidst this situation.

‘And the fact that he’s doing this through an official channel shows just how precious Lee Junghyo is to him.’

Louisa felt a complicated mix of emotions.

Whether he knew how she felt or not, Kim Junsoo smiled brightly and gave an answer that was neither a denial nor an affirmation.

[If you wish to think of it as a threat… well, you’re free to think whatever you want, right?]

But well, it was an answer that was as good as an affirmation.

“Hah…”

What in the world?

Is she really just a niece? Not his actual daughter?

Louisa leaned the back of her head against the chair’s headrest and exhaled for a moment.

“Our side doesn’t have the leeway to scheme anything. To begin with, we don’t even know why Dungeon Hotel Branch 4 suddenly manifested. Though the term ‘manifested’ is a bit ambiguous here. Anyway, we are also baffled that the item activated without Hunter Lee Junghyo’s own volition. As you know, at least from my perspective as a crafting-class Hunter, that’s how it is.”

[Figuring that out would also be your responsibility, wouldn’t it~?]

Now he wasn’t even hiding his hostility.

[Ah, if you truly lack the capability, we could dispatch someone from our side. Someone like Hunter Hwang Misoon… since Korea has a world-class crafter like Hunter Hwang Misoon.]

Along with the blatant provocation, a woman with explosive hair appeared at the edge of the screen.

With her signature curly hair that looked like it was about to burst.

The owner of that hair was, of course, Hwang Misoon.

[Oh, it’s been a while. I was actually planning to contact you soon, you know? Our workshop recently released a new model of the dungeon manifestation detection device. The Union President’s reaction was absolutely fantastic, but, well… I heard there was some talk in France about patronizing domestic products?]

“….”

Louisa bit her lip.

So she was saying she had just released a new “rift” detection device? And the Association President had already received it and given it a glowing review?

‘Of course, Hwang Misoon’s device would be better…’

At this point, feelings like an inferiority complex didn’t even wash over her. She just felt despondent.

They weren’t even in the same league to begin with.

No, rather…

“That… detection device, could I be the first to receive it?”

Louisa muttered.

Her face flushed red.

As a fellow crafter, an irresistible curiosity arose within her. It was only natural that this curiosity triumphed over her inferiority complex.

A new ‘rift’ detector from Hwang Misoon’s Workshop!

If she could be the first to receive, take apart, taste, and enjoy such a magnificent object!

An intense desire as a crafter overflowed within her.

Hwang Misoon pushed up her glasses and replied.

[Well, if you need it? But we need something, too. Information on the Liber Monastery, specifically. I’m worried because I heard our girl is over there.]

At Hwang Misoon’s words, Louisa tilted her head in confusion.

“Is she your daughter, Master Hwang Misoon?”

“Ah, no. A niece.”

“Then are Master Hwang Misoon and Association President Kim Junsoo…?”

Louisa looked back and forth between the two faces that didn’t resemble each other at all.

Hwang Misoon and Kim Junsoo’s expressions scrunched up in disgust simultaneously.

[No way.]

[Are you crazy, human…?]

It seemed she had misunderstood.

But how could Hunter Lee Junghyo be a niece to both of them?

Deciding to set that question aside for a moment, Louisa stared quietly at the documents she had investigated regarding the Liber Monastery.

To be honest, there wasn’t much special information about the Liber Monastery.

Just the weird TV program screenshots the attendant had shown her earlier, and some talk about it having archaeological value since the Middle Ages—

While having these thoughts, she suddenly recalled one fact.

“Ah…”

The sense of déjà vu she had felt upon hearing the words ‘Liber Monastery.’

Its true nature had resurfaced in her mind.

It was a very old memory.

‘Back when I was active in the Resistance, you see. We used an old castle on the sea as a base for our battles. We even carved codes into corks through a nearby old winery…’

These were words from her late grandfather.

Her grandfather was a man who had dedicated himself to France, having served as a member of the Resistance during the World War.

‘I heard it was a monastery built in the Middle Ages. There was an interesting legend that had been passed down about that castle since the old days.’

‘A legend?’

Young Louisa loved chatting about this and that with her grandfather, who was in poor health.

Her grandfather had a knack for remembering things from the distant past and telling them so vividly as if they were happening in the present.

Louisa sometimes found her grandfather’s stories more entertaining than fairy tales.

The reason for that was—

‘Because there was a rumor that drinking the wine from there would drive people mad! So we in the Resistance talked about how we needed to feed the Nazis Liber wine to drive them crazy!’

…Because her grandfather was a famous liar in the neighborhood.

‘Father. Please stop saying strange things to a child. Louisa is still young, so she really believes those stories.’

‘Why? I’m telling the truth, Louisa.’

‘Then you want me to believe that? That the man who drank that wine…’

‘Right. I didn’t tell you that part.’

‘Father…!’

‘One of the men who drank that wine claimed he had time-traveled. He said that after drinking the wine, he saw the future of Liber Castle. But what that bastard said was so hilarious. In that future, Liber Castle wasn’t an old castle anymore but had turned into a hotel, where some rat was cooking and a fox had become a bellboy carrying the guests’ luggage. Kehehe, that man had gone completely mad!’

A hotel…

She furrowed her brows as she recalled that much.

Did her grandfather really say that?

Because it was such an old memory, she couldn’t dismiss the possibility that she had re-edited the memory herself.

She swiped through the materials related to Liber Castle saved on her tablet, over and over.

Most of the stories about Liber Castle focused on ‘urban legends’ with unclear sources.

It was because many people had died there every time they faced things like the Black Death or war.

But to put it another way—

‘Anyway, Liber Castle was like a resting place for us. When the tide rose, the enemy couldn’t enter at all, and because spooky ghost stories floated around, the Nazis were reluctant to search the inside of the old castle. Come to think of it, it makes sense. There are many spooky stories about that castle, but most of them are about sick people resting there and dying, or injured soldiers sleeping there and seeing ghosts. In the end, doesn’t that mean that many people seeking ‘rest’ found their way to that castle?’

It meant that sick, injured, and endangered people often sought out the old castle.

Just like how the Dungeon Hotel took in Hunters who were in danger.

‘The wine I drank there was the most delicious of my life… It’s a shame. I wonder if I’ll ever have the chance to drink it again.’

‘Father! You just said that everyone who drank the wine went mad!’

‘Not everyone goes mad, only some of them!’

‘Anyway, please stop lying to the kid.’

‘You never know! Maybe I’m mad too!’

‘Father…’

Drawing the image of her bickering grandfather and father in her mind, she looked up at Kim Junsoo and Hwang Misoon.

Recalling those times, strangely enough, a warm and fuzzy feeling began to fill her heart.

“From what I can tell… there are no issues with that old castle. No, rather, it seems to be the perfect place for Dungeon Hotel Branch 4 to be located. However, if any problematic situations arise, I will contact the Association immediately.”

And for some unknown reason, she decided to reassure the two people who looked like worried parents.

“…So please don’t worry too much.”

* * *

After explaining the situation regarding Dungeon Hotel Branch 4 to the French Hunter Union, I first saw off the existing guests.

Since the guests were scheduled to check out the next day anyway, they moved out quickly for their next schedules.

Among them, it was especially memorable to see Lloyd carrying all of Olivia’s luggage as they left.

‘…There really was something going on between those two.’

Thinking that, I began swift preparations for the opening of the Dungeon Hotel.

The very starting point of those preparations was, of course, this.

‘Exclusive Shop.’

Let’s buy some items first.

Because running a business is all about the items too.
