Sunshine Shower Chapter 118
My throat went dry from the unexpected situation. Moon Seoyoon calmly finished the phone call.
“I just ran into him. Let’s talk later.”
— Yes, hyung!
A lively voice, completely out of sync with the atmosphere, rang in his ears. Moon Seoyoon looked at Woo Yeonjae quietly, barely moving his lips.
“For now… come in.”
Perhaps because he had anticipated this encounter, it wasn’t as hard as he thought to remain composed. He just hadn’t expected the meeting to take place in his dorm. Still, he couldn’t leave someone standing in the hallway, so Moon Seoyoon stepped aside. It was fortunate that Nam Tae-eun wasn’t around.
‘He’ll understand this much, right?’
However, instead of coming in, Woo Yeonjae remained rooted in place as if nailed to the spot. It wasn’t until then that Moon Seoyoon realized Woo Yeonjae’s gaze was fixed on something beyond his shoulder. Whatever it was, they couldn’t keep standing like this in the dorm hallway.
“If you’re not coming in, let’s talk outside.”
As he started to step out, a large hand grabbed the half-open door. The veins on the back of his hand bulged from the pressure.
“Go inside.”
Moon Seoyoon stepped back, avoiding Woo Yeonjae, then slowly turned and walked inside. Despite the calmness in his heart, his mind raced, unsure how to start the conversation.
He figured he should apologize first—whether it was for hiding his feelings, for agreeing to the intimate encounter, or for running away to the dorm without a word.
“Woo Yeonjae. First of all, I’m sorry…”
“Moon Seoyoon.”
Before he could even finish, Woo Yeonjae’s cold voice cut him off. At the same time, Moon Seoyoon slowly turned towards him. Realizing they would have to face each other, he cautiously raised his head, but he couldn’t meet Woo Yeonjae’s eyes. His gaze was fixed not on Seoyoon, but towards the window.
“That cologne, it was his, huh?”
“What?”
It was a completely irrelevant topic. Why cologne, all of a sudden? Confused, Moon Seoyoon frowned as Woo Yeonjae’s dark eyes shifted to him.
Moon Seoyoon stood there blankly, staring at Woo Yeonjae. For the first time since knowing him from childhood, his friend felt like a stranger.
Instead of answering, Woo Yeonjae slowly moved forward. Thinking he was coming closer to talk, Moon Seoyoon stood still, but Woo Yeonjae didn’t stop. He came so close that Moon Seoyoon had to look up slightly as he passed through the narrow gap between the beds. The unexpected action caused Seoyoon to turn belatedly.
“Where are you… are you crazy?”
A near-shriek escaped Moon Seoyoon’s lips as Woo Yeonjae lifted up Nam Tae-eun’s cologne, staring at it.
“I knew it.”
The moment Woo Yeonjae’s eyes shifted back to him, Moon Seoyoon had a gut feeling. Woo Yeonjae was going to break that cologne. His body moved before he even finished the thought.
“Let go.”
As Moon Seoyoon quickly grabbed his wrist, Woo Yeonjae lowered his eyes and commanded coldly. Though it was just one syllable, the frosty tone made it sound like a growl from a maddened animal.
“You let go. What’s wrong with you?”
Moon Seoyoon knew he couldn’t win in strength. But he couldn’t let someone else’s belongings be broken. Tightening his grip as if to say ‘stop it,’ the hand holding the cologne noticeably twitched.
“Is this so precious to you?”
“What?”
Ha, Woo Yeonjae scoffed. Moon Seoyoon could feel the strength surging into Woo Yeonjae’s arm, causing him to stagger with the force.
“Woo Yeonjae, don’t…!”
Before he could even steady himself, a sharp sound of something breaking pierced the air, followed by the strong scent of the cologne.
“You… you’re seriously insane?”
The strength left Moon Seoyoon’s hand as he stood dumbfounded, staring at the broken cologne. For a brief moment, he was distracted by the thought of how he would apologize to Tae-eun hyung. But that thought faded quickly—what was going on? Before his brain could process, his body swayed.
“Ugh. What are you doing?”
Suddenly, Woo Yeonjae grabbed his arm and pressed his nose into the nape of Moon Seoyoon’s neck, drawing him close. Moon Seoyoon reached out to push him away. It was an instinctive reaction, driven by surprise from the sudden contact.
“I can’t tell anything because of the cologne’s scent…”
“What are you even saying? What’s wrong with you?”
But Woo Yeonjae showed no signs of backing off. Instead, he tightened his grip around Moon Seoyoon’s waist as if pulling him into an embrace. Moon Seoyoon wanted to check if Woo Yeonjae was in his right mind, but it was hard to even lift his head with him nuzzling into his neck.
“Woo Yeonjae. Ugh!”
As he pushed back to free himself, their legs tangled, and they both lost balance. With a soft thud, Moon Seoyoon fell onto the bed, a gentle sensation brushing against his exposed skin. Luckily, the fall didn’t hurt. The real problem was Woo Yeonjae falling with him, their bodies pressing together in an awkward position.
“Why are you acting like this?”
Moon Seoyoon swung his arm and struck Woo Yeonjae’s shoulder. Only then did the large shadow looming over him slowly retreat. Woo Yeonjae’s dark gaze lingered around his neck, as if searching for something.
“Move. Let’s talk after getting up.”
Moon Seoyoon propped himself up on his elbow to rise, but Woo Yeonjae didn’t budge. He simply tugged at the collar of his shirt with one hand while supporting his body with the other. It was as if he wasn’t hearing a single word Seoyoon was saying.
“Seoyoon, just in case…”
What the hell is going on with him? The hand that was about to push away Woo Yeonjae’s large frame froze at his low voice.
Just running into him at the dorm had already been an unsettling situation. He had let him inside, thinking they should talk, but he never expected Woo Yeonjae to break something that didn’t even belong to him—Nam Tae-eun’s cologne. Seoyoon wanted to scream, to ask why he was acting this way, but the strange atmosphere made it difficult to speak.
Moon Seoyoon blinked. His view was completely filled by the figure of Woo Yeonjae, leaning in so closely that it felt suffocating. He could now study Woo Yeonjae’s face in detail.
Woo Yeonjae looked furious. It was nothing like when he asked if Seoyoon liked men or when he sarcastically questioned if Seoyoon was confessing during his own “confession.” This expression was much colder, angrier than Seoyoon had ever seen before.
It was the first time Seoyoon had seen Woo Yeonjae’s eyes so wild, leaving him unable to even part his lips.
“Even after sleeping with me, you kept seeing him?”
The next words only added fuel to the confusion.
“…What?”
“What did you buy at the convenience store?”
What is he talking about? Moon Seoyoon blinked again, unable to even finish getting up, just staring in disbelief. Woo Yeonjae was speaking words that seemed completely unrelated, making it impossible to understand what point he was trying to make. The conversation had jumped from the cologne to sleeping with someone, and now a convenience store?
“How do you think I felt, seeing you like that?”
Woo Yeonjae’s fingers, which had been tugging at Seoyoon’s shirt collar, slowly trailed down to his neck.
“What are you even saying? What’s wrong with you?”
Now Seoyoon was genuinely bewildered.
“If I just acted on my feelings, it’d be a disaster at our age.”
“What are you talking about?”
“If I didn’t keep my promise, you’d hate me.”
Moon Seoyoon bit his lip, staring intently at Woo Yeonjae.
Even though they had been face-to-face for a while, it was only now that Seoyoon felt like he was truly seeing Woo Yeonjae’s expression. Maybe it was because the usual playful look was gone, replaced by a sharp, tense atmosphere. His normally unreadable face looked especially cold now, making Seoyoon feel like he was staring at an emotionless statue in the dead of night.
It wasn’t that Seoyoon was scared of Woo Yeonjae. Rather, it was the chilling sensation of facing something too perfectly crafted, like a finely chiseled sculpture. The only human feature that seemed to remain was the irritation sharpening the edges of his tired eyes. Though Woo Yeonjae might seem the same to others, Seoyoon, who had known him for so long, could clearly see the fatigue settling in.
In that moment, Seoyoon wondered if Woo Yeonjae’s nonsensical rambling was due to lack of sleep. After all, the one who had thrown the bomb and fled to the dorm was Seoyoon, leaving Woo Yeonjae’s mind in an even more tangled mess.
Feeling he needed to stay calm, Seoyoon grabbed Woo Yeonjae’s hand, which had been constantly touching the back of his neck.
“I don’t understand a single word you’re saying right now. Speak clearly. What are you talking about?”
“Your roommate’s your fuck buddy, right?”
“…What?”
“Our Seoyoon, why are you so clueless?”
“What the hell are you saying…?”
“Why do you think I hated you going back to the dorm?”
Moon Seoyoon couldn’t believe what he was hearing. The strength left his hand, and his grip on Woo Yeonjae’s arm loosened.
For the first time, Moon Seoyoon let go of Woo Yeonjae.
