Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 104
“Uh…”
As Yeon-young gripped the doorknob breathlessly, she could feel her energy being sucked into the door. For a brief moment, the door to the lab shone as brightly as the sun.
Feeling dizzy, she tried to let go of the handle, but her hand stuck to it like glue.
She held her head with one hand and breathed harshly, and the light faded and her hand fell away.
“What the hell.”
Yeon-young grabbed the handle and turned it to the right, but the door was firmly locked, unlike the strange phenomenon that had unfolded.
Opening the door was the first challenge. She chewed her lower lip slightly and tapped the surface of her bracelet.
[Check for lab abnormalities]
Yeon-young immediately sent a message to Zhaolin.
‘Don’t push yourself too hard. Do the best you can with what you have.’
It was something she knew firsthand from her work at the center. Yeon-young tapped the door with her index finger as she waited for Zhaolin to acknowledge the message.
‘What the hell was going on inside Jung Jaeho’s lab?’
‘What could be hidden inside?’
Yeon-young leaned back against the wall and closed her eyes. As Jaeho saved Yeon-young and Ryu Won in the emergency room, he had said, “You always choose Ryu Won when it matters most.”
Was there ever a moment when Yeon-young didn’t choose Jaeho?
She can’t think of one, so she wonders if this is his question from his past life.
Yeon-young let out the breath she’d been holding all this time.
Only now that Jaeho was gone could she look back at him.
“Jung Jaeho. Where the hell did you go…”
“You called?”
Zhaolin stepped into the lab, hearing Yeon-young’s low murmur.
It was as if she had come here as soon as she checked the comms.
One eyebrow arched as she scanned the lab, her gaze finally landing on Yeon-young.
Her eyes didn’t seem to have any of Snarl’s aura in them as she gave her a questioning look.
Yeon-young looked at Zhaolin and pointed to the locked door.
“It’s locked.”
“Was there a room like this in the lab? I’ve never seen this door before. What is it?”
“I can see Snarl’s aura in here, all of it.”
“You mean in that room? You did a good job of contacting me.”
Yeon-young nodded slightly in agreement. Zhaolin stormed into the lab and stood in front of the door, pulling it open without hesitation.
Blue sparks flared in her hands.
Zhaolin lifted her chin slightly to check the inside of the door.
“Is it open?”
“I think it’s locked securely.”
Zhaolin pulled her hands away from the door, unable to think of any way to open it.
She pulled out her card key and placed it on the doorknob, just in case, but the door was silent.
She slid her hand under the handle and concentrated. When she looked again, the doorknob was still stained with Snarl’s energy.
“It’s leaking out from inside.”
“Are you sure it’s Snarl’s energy?”
“Yes, I can feel it more and more clearly. It’s Snarl’s energy.”
“What the hell was Jung Jaeho doing in the lab?”
Yeon-young couldn’t see it before, but now she could feel it.
It was seeping through the cracks in the door and leaking out.
It was a thick, dense corruption that was hard to look at. Yeon-young gripped the doorknob of the inner room and whispered.
“I suppose I should go in and check it out… but I don’t know how.”
Things would be more complicated if Jaeho had locked the door with his mind set on it.
As lowly as she may seem, Myeong-haeng is in charge of security for the entire first division.
Zhaolin and Yeon-young were silent for a moment at the door. Their minds were racing with the growing complexity.
“I wonder how Jung Jaeho got in through this door.”
Yeon-young pursed her lips and pondered. If she thought about it, every time she and Jaeho had been in this lab, he had entered this room.
She tried to remember the last time she and Jaeho had visited the lab.
‘Did he go in to get a drink?’
While she was preoccupied with the data on her desk, he had entered the room to get a drink.
Clearly, Jaeho had opened the door to her visit through some process.
The scene jumbled in her mind, and she clenched her fists in impatience.
“Ha…, what the hell.”
“Can you think of anything?”
“If I’m lucky, I’ll think of something…”
Zhaolin waited patiently for Yeon-young, who furrowed her brow.
She frowned and shoved her hands into the pockets of her uniform coat.
She felt the distinctive coolness of the metal on the back of her hand. She squeezed it tightly.
It was the metal key she had found inside Ryu Won’s room.
At that moment, she felt her senses gradually become clearer, as if they were foggy and opaque.
“The key.”
“A key?”
“Jung Jaeho used this key to open the door back then.”
“Is that so?”
After sitting Yeon-young down at her desk, Jaeho opened the door to this room with a golden key.
She took the key out of her pocket. As it turned out, the key she was holding was exactly this size.
She stared at the key in her palm.
‘Could this be a coincidence?’
She turned the doorknob once more. The metal engaged tightly and stopped moving.
“What is that key?”
“The key with Snarl’s energy on it.”
One of Zhaolin’s eyebrows rose at Yeon-young’s answer.
She leaned against the door, crossed her arms, and looked down at Yeon-young.
She crossed her arms over her chest, wondering why she hadn’t told her before.
“Were you a spy, too?”
“No. I was going to tell you earlier…, in the conference room, but the timing wasn’t right.”
“Where did you get that key, did Jung Jaeho give it to you?”
“No, he didn’t, but somehow my gut was telling me it was the right one.”
For the first time, Yeon-young avoided Zhaolin’s gaze.
She bit her lip, clutching the key tightly in her hand.
If this key did indeed belong to the inner room, things were about to get even more complicated.
“Do you think this key will fit?”
“Just try it, it’s never too late to think about it.”
Zhaolin was right. There was no point in worrying about something that hadn’t happened yet.
Yeon-young looked down at her palm. A key pattern was etched into the skin.
With a sudden decision, she picked up the key and inserted it into the doorknob.
Like a hinge engaging, the key snapped into the doorknob hole. The hairs on her arms stood on end.
She tensed her hand and turned the key slowly to the right.
*Click*
The sound announced the key’s ownership of the doorknob.
Zhaolin’s eyes grew redder and deeper, like blazing flames.
A dizzying sensation, like standing on the edge of a precipice, enveloped his entire body.
“Is it open?”
“I think so.”
The sensation in her fingertips told her that this key was the answer.
It would open this door if Jaeho hadn’t put a special code on it.
“Try pushing it.”
“Be careful. It doesn’t feel right.”
The moment the key opened the door, the murky aura grew thicker.
At Yeon-young’s advice, Zhaolin nodded slightly and assumed an offensive stance.
She checked her condition and pushed the door inward.
The door opened softly, as if it had been waiting for her.
“Kolokolok.”
“Ugh.”
The room inside was filled with the acrid smoke of Snarl’s fire.
Then, noticing something in the room, Zhaolin stood in front of Yeon-young and asked a question.
“Where did you get that key?”
“…From Mr. Ryu Won’s study.”
“You mean Mr. Ryu-won?”
“Yes. I found it by accident.”
“I think we need to investigate this again.”
“Why? I see something.”
As the smoke that had filled the room slowly dissipated outside, their vision cleared.
Yeon-young stood beside her , studying her stone face.
Then, the scene inside the locked room was revealed in all its detail.
“What the…, what is this…”
The darkened room was filled with regular water-filled capsules. It looked very similar to what you’d see in an emergency room.
Inside the capsule, disembodied souls were trapped, mixed with pieces of Snarl.
Neither Yeon-young nor Zhaolin dared to speak at the horrific sight.
Yeon-young walked on, her gaze fixed on the wall as if she had discovered something. Hanging on the wall was a black robe, faintly stained with Jaeho’s aura.
Without a moment’s hesitation, she pulled the robe down.
Tuduk—
The robe and other items fell to the floor, scattering.
Yeon-young picked up a card key she didn’t recognize.
It had Jaeho’s face emblazoned on it, along with a geometric N symbolizing Negro.
The spy was indeed inside the special team.
