Yeon-Young entered a secluded forest path a short distance from Iris’ pillar area.

The path was clear, but old trees grew haphazardly here and there, giving it an eerie atmosphere.

A red marker flickered on the holographic map on her bracelet.

The arrow that indicated Yeon-young’s current location came closer and closer to the red marker.

“There.”

In the area where the Slys had gathered, the missing soul was wedged between the bushes.

With slow, careful movements, Yeon-young scooped the Sly into her arms.

– Captured Sly (Medium-Low)

– Your wish has been granted.

Yeon-young breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that she had made it through the outside plan alone and safely.

After skillfully leading Sly to the pillar, she teleported back to the entrance of the center.

By now, her body was beginning to adjust and she didn’t mind the short distance.

She rolled her stiff shoulders back and stepped into the center.

She checked her pockets, shaking her head at the rustling she heard as she walked.

Inside was the flyer for the house sale she’d found in Ryu Won’s car last night.

“I didn’t want to start with a big house, so this is perfect.”

The flyer showed houses that were for sale right now.

There was everything from huge, expensive three-story houses like Ryu Won’s to tiny one-bedroom houses.

If she saved all her money now, she could buy a modest two-bedroom house.

It wasn’t bad, just a little smaller inside.

“If I get a little more money, I can get a three-bedroom house.”

Saeri’s one-month grace period was fast approaching.

Instead of settling into a comfortable life with Ryu Won, she had to decide whether to move into a dormitory or find a house.

In fact, as long as she could afford to buy a house, she didn’t want to move into a dorm.

She wanted to live in her own place, even if it was small, and build her own life.

Yeon-young folded the paper in the direction of the drawing of the small house and put it back in her bag.

She decided that she would go see the house as soon as she finished her work.

Of course, Ryu Won wouldn’t like that.

She remembered the conversation she and Ryu Won had in the car.

“Are you uncomfortable at home?”

“Not really…”

“If we go out, we’ll be together soon anyway. Why work twice as hard?”

“I don’t want to owe you.”

“You don’t owe me anything.”

“…….”

“Yeon-young makes a fool of me sometimes.

At the word “debt”, even the smile he had fought so hard to keep on his face turned cold.

Without another word, Ryu Won started the car, turned the wheel and drove out of the parking lot.

Yeon-young looked at him in the icy air.

“Think it over and talk to me again.”

The conversation ended there.

It was hard to talk about going out again when the mood hung like a heavy weight.

Ryu Won’s grumpy voice about making a fool of himself echoed in her ears.

She couldn’t understand why Ryu Won reacted so badly to the idea of her finding her own place.

The more Ryu Won showed her favors and affection, the more she felt uncomfortable.

It seemed as if everything would suddenly disappear as if nothing had happened.

Yeon-young shook her head, remembering the moment she broke up with her ex-boyfriend.

Still, when she looked at it objectively, without emotion, she was right to move out.

Before she knew it, she was standing outside the special team meeting room.

Not long after she stepped inside, she heard conversations outside the door.

“Why? Isn’t it about time?”

“I’m not saying I shouldn’t go.”

There was a lot of shouting back and forth, and then the door of the conference room opened.

It was none other than Jaeho and Saeri who entered the room.

Yeon-young froze for a moment at the unfamiliar combination, then recovered and greeted them.

“Hello.”

“Did you rest well?” Saeri asked.

“Stop playing games and tell me. Where are the ingredients? Are you going to let the experiment go to waste?” Jaeho interrupted.

“You will only lose. Darling, blackmail only works on other spirits. Not on me.”

Jaeho ran his hands through his hair in anger.

Water droplets formed around his hair and then turned into sharp arrows. The arrow-shaped droplets flew around and shattered a piece of porcelain.

Yeon-young’s eyes widened in surprise, but Saeri watched the scene with a nonchalant face.

She extended her index finger and flicked Jaeho’s forehead.

The water droplets that had been floating around the conference room disappeared instantly.

Even though she was smiling, she felt incredibly powerful. It was as if she was a god, and it was difficult to even talk to her.

“I’ve been telling you all along, you can go get the ingredients and work on this request while you’re there.”

“You said you’d let me know when the time was up. Why do you keep changing your mind, you old hag?”

“You said you wanted to be a little boy forever, didn’t you?”

Just when she thought things had quieted down a bit, Jaeho’s comment reignited the argument.

Feeling that she should step aside, Yeon-young hands the report to Saeri and turns to leave.

But Saeri soon catches up with her as she is about to leave.

“Jung Jaeho, are you going or not? Tell me now.”

“You said you wouldn’t tell me the location if I didn’t go.”

“Don’t get into trouble. Like your sister said, if you miss this, it’s another few hundred years.”

The victory flag belonged to Saeri.

Saeri motioned for Yeon-young to come closer and watch, calling her over to the round table.

A deep yellow pillar of light rose from the ground and enveloped Saeri’s body.

Saeri swirled her hands around the table a few times, and earth rose to the surface.

The earth wiggled like an earthworm crawling, then stopped, forming a square slab.

The shape of a terrain emerged from the square plate.

The tallest pole in the center was a map of the terrain of the first district.

There are more places she doesn’t know than she thought.

Forest terrain surrounded the Iris Pillar in the center of the map, with occasional water terrain mixed in.

To the south of the forest terrain was the center and the village, and to the north was a series of housing developments.

This was the only place where Yeon-young could see and interpret exactly where she was.

“Here.”

Saeri extended her index finger and pointed to the mountainous terrain northwest of the Iris Pillar.

It was an area Yeon-young hadn’t been to yet.

Jaeho, on the other hand, raised his right eyebrow and gave her a questioning look.

“What? I’ve been there more than once.”

“Well, it’s an area where strange things often appear, so I’m sure you’ve been here often in search of experimental materials. I’ll let your machines detect the map.”

“Of course, but what about the materials…”

The dirt on the table disappeared as the cards were inserted into Yeon-young’s bracelet and Jaeho’s piercing.

Saeri crossed her arms and slowly organized her work.

“This request is to get Sly Powder from the Cave of Purification in the northwestern mountains. We need you to repair the entrance, and you’ll go with him.” Saeri pointed at Yeon-young.

“Me too?” Yeon-young asked, pointing at herself.

The suddenness of the request and the idea of teaming up with Jung Jaeho felt like a slap in the face.

“Is it right for victims and perpetrators of domestic violence to work alone?”

“Why do I have to go with her?”

They both asked Saeri at the same time.

Saeri remained relaxed, as if she had expected such a reaction.

She pointed at Jaeho and sat down in the chair of the conference room.

“You should thank me. You need Yeon-young.”

“The one whose work is worse than mine?”

“You need her to find your way through this mountain of rotting experimental equipment.”

Saeri’s comment about Yeon-young needing to find the way didn’t make much sense.

Jaeho chewed his lower lip relentlessly, as if the suggestion wasn’t a pleasant one.

He stared at Yeon-young with eyes like a clear sea.

Looking into those eyes made her feel as if she had just jumped into the ocean.

Jaeho threw his hands in the air as he stared into Yeon-young’s eyes.

“I don’t want to look at her gumshoe any more than I want to look at anything else. I won’t.”

“Ryu Won can’t come with you. His ring is broken, not to mention his other duties.”

“Isn’t that my opinion?”

Jaeho’s lips twitched at Saeri’s additional explanation, as if he was finally intrigued by the whole thing.

Yeon-young’s eyes grew worried.

“Is this a dangerous mission?”

“Moderately. Actually, you don’t have to go if you don’t want to, but I’m just asking because of the high stakes. I hear you’re looking for a place to relocate.”

‘Where did she hear that?’

Yeon-young asked, clutching the flyer in her uniform pocket.

“How much is it?”

“Five times what you get paid. We’re in a hurry.”

“Five times.”

Five times the amount would get me to a much nicer place than the one I had planned.

A move would bring some clarity to the situation.

After a quick glance at Jaeho, Yeon-young made up her mind.

“I’ll go with you, as long as there are safeguards against any unexpected behavior from Jung Jaeho.”

At Yeon-young’s conclusion, Saeri laughed softly and threw the bundle of plastic bags.

At the same time, the door of the conference room opened and someone entered.

It was Ryu Won.
