Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 55
As soon as Yeon-young’s gaze met his, his eyes became even colder.
She felt like she’d been bitten by a mad dog in the street.
Her eyebrows arched slightly and he turned his attention back to the cereal on top.
“I can’t reach it.”
Frowning, remembering Jaeho’s habit of saying that, Yeon-young walked past the row.
But as she passed each one, her heart grew heavier.
It wasn’t in her nature to ignore him.
When she returned to Jaeho’s cubicle, Yeon-young approached him.
Without saying a word, she took the cereal he was staring at and placed it in his arms.
Seeing the cereal in Jaeho’s hand, Yeon-young left the cabin again.
Or tried to.
“Why are you interrupting me?”
“In times like this you should say thank you.”
“I actually like you as a test subject.”
“That’s offensive.”
Yeon-Young shrugged, as if she hadn’t expected a thank you at all.
The more relaxed she became, the more Jaeho’s clenched fists tightened.
It was strange, because he might be crazy, but he wasn’t a very angry person.
“We’ll see. Once I finish this project, I’ll… That damn chairman said she’d give me the location.”
“Location?”
Just then, she felt a soft, warm breeze ruffle her hair.
She instinctively realized that Ryu Won had returned to her side.
He came so quickly, as if he hadn’t seen her.
He grabbed Yeon-young’s arm without hurting her and hid her behind his back.
Jaeho didn’t look happy to see Ryu Won.
“What’s wrong?” Ryu Won asked.
“The experimental material came to my territory of its own accord, why would I let it go?”
“Wow. That’s trash.”
“And you’re stuck with a cold water source.”
Jaeho didn’t want to argue anymore, so he turned around and left.
He held the cereal Yeon-young had packed for him in his arms.
Ryu Won looked at Yeon-young and checked her physical condition.
“Are you sure that everything was okay?”
“Yes. I’m actually surprised that nothing happened.”
“That’s strange.”
It bothered her that he was so blatantly disrespectful to his teammate, but she hadn’t expected it to go that far.
She had expected Jaeho to at least throw cereal at her, but she was surprised that things had gone so smoothly.
Ryu Won ran a hand through his hair and muttered.
“What happened to him when he became a Sly?”
“What?”
“It’s not even worth thinking about anymore. Are you looking for something?”
“Oh, Korean ingredients, I think they’re organized by country.”
“Come with me, I know where it is.” Ryu Won said confidently and led the way.
He had been to this corner many times before.
He hadn’t gotten lost, even though he had to go around several corners to find his way, as if he was looking for a book in a library.
Yeon-young, who had memorized the way at first, gave up and followed him.
“I can get there on my own,” she said.
“Why do you keep trying to walk alone when I’m here?”
“I have to think when Mr. Ryu Won isn’t here.”
“Even if I go to war, I’ll be back, so call me, don’t do it all by yourself.”
In front of where Ryu Won stopped walking was what looked like a replica of a small Korean grocery store.
From fresh-looking ingredients to ready-made finished products.
She could spend all day here and be amazed at the variety.
He piled several kinds of vegetables into a basket.
Ryu Won smiled pleasantly as Yeon-young stared at him.
“This makes us look like newlyweds, doesn’t it?”
“We’re not married.”
“Aren’t we there yet? I don’t think we’re that far away.”
“Don’t we have a lot of unfinished business?”
Yeon-young narrowed her eyes at Ryu Won, who seemed to avoid answering all the important questions.
Ryu Won looked at the tightly packed basket and smiled with pride.
He had jokingly said that they were like newlyweds, but given the circumstances, she felt like she was married to him.
Overcome with a strange feeling, Yeon-young fumbled with the bracelet on her right arm.
“What happened to your ring? Did you fix it?”
“Luckily, only the gemstone is missing and they said it will be fixed in two days.”
Yeon-young looked at Ryu Won’s finger, which looked empty without the ring.
She couldn’t tell how long he’d been wearing the ring, and the spot where he’d worn it was unusually blurred.
Ryu Won kept touching his ring finger with his other finger to see if he could get used to it.
It was one of his habits.
“Until I get the ring repaired, I should be fine.”
From Snarl’s intrusion to Idelia’s work.
She hadn’t been here long, and so much had happened that it was unsettling.
They chatted about this and that, and before she knew it, they were at the cash register.
There were no employees at the checkout, just a room where you could check out on your own.
Yeon-young entered the barcodes of each item into the machine one by one.
D500 was the total amount.
Ryu Won naturally reached out his hand to pay.
Seeing the total amount, Yeon-young’s eyes widened and she grabbed his hand and pushed it aside.
Then she held up her right wrist and said confidently.
“Why didn’t you tell me it was money?”
“Because you’re going to use it like a credit card.”
“I’m buying this, don’t even take your hand out.”
Ryu Won continued to extend his arm, as if fascinated by Yeon-young’s calculations, but her stubbornness could not be broken.
As the line of souls behind her grew, he raised a white flag.
Ryu Won watched her, clenching and unclenching her hands in vain.
Relief washed over her as she realized that she could finally repay him, at least a little. She slid the armband into the machine.
[D30,000,000]
“Are these the right numbers?”
“Is there a problem?”
Yeon-young blinked at the numbers, which were now many times larger than the ones she had seen in the square earlier.
Ryu Won looked back and forth between the number and Yeon-young’s face, giving her a questioning look.
[D29,999,500]
With a cheerful beep, the payment completion window appeared and the number disappeared.
The number she saw was not an error, as it was just the total of the items subtracted from the original number.
Yeon-young mentally rattled off the numbers.
“Did they make a mistake entering my salary?”
“You’ve solved a lot of difficult problems, so you’ve earned it.”
“I haven’t really solved anything.”
At that moment, many things went through Yeon-young’s mind.
The attack by Snarl, the near death experience with Jaeho. Her powers manifesting, passing out from boredom, falling into a giant sinkhole, and more.
She’d certainly had her share of hardships.
“I see. Speaking of the price of life.”
Yeon-young decided to accept the amount of money on her bracelet. The more money that was rightfully hers, the better.
She placed the basket next to the cash register and put her things into the box.
Ryu Won then used his powers to lift it into the air.
It looked heavy, but he didn’t seem to struggle.
They casually walked side by side and left the checkout area.
Yeon-Young thought about money all the way to the parking lot. She still didn’t know much about the economy of Tanato.
“Mr. Ryu Won, is this a lot of money?”
“It’s not a lot. But you don’t have to worry about money for anything, and the cost of living here is cheap.”
“This world goes on without money.”
While Ryu Won listened to Yeon-young’s ramblings, he looked beyond the telemart into the Iris Forest.
The forest was bathed in light due to the influence of the Slys.
“Actually… sleeping, eating, watching the market, it’s all just a game, a game I never forgot.”
Ryu Won opened the passenger side door and helped Yeon-young into the seat, then opened the trunk and loaded the luggage.
While sitting in the passenger seat, Yeon-young noticed a piece of paper stuck in the windshield wiper.
She got out of the car and retrieved the paper.
It was an advertisement for the building. From high-rise penthouses to low-rise houses.
Yeon-young’s eyes sparkled as she slowly read the information on the paper.
The trunk door closed and Ryu Won climbed into the driver’s seat.
“Mr. Ryu Won, I think I should buy this house.”
Ryu Won looked at the picture of the small house Yeon-young pointed to and his face slowly hardened.
