Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 71
“It’s cold.”
Yeon-young rubbed her arms with her hands.
The cold had been excruciating, as if a cold wave had come at the same time as he had appeared on the training ground.
Her flesh ached as if it had been cut by something sharp.
She craned her neck and stared at where Ryu Won was standing.
Boom!
One of the lights on the ceiling of the training center shattered, and the others followed suit.
Ryu Won leaned his back against the door of the training center and closed his eyes. His chest rose and fell slowly. He seemed to catch his breath for a moment.
He opened his eyes, took a step and muttered.
“I forgot something, and when I went back, you stole it.”
His eyes, like the Milky Way, had long since lost their sparkle. Occasionally his forehead furrowed slightly, as if he were holding something back.
He fumbled with his ring and stared at Yeon-young like a bull’s-eye. The intensity of his gaze made the back of her neck feel hot, as if it had been set on fire.
Zhaolin replied to Ryu Won by stepping in front of Yeon-young.
“It’s important to teach them how to use their abilities properly.”
“So you’re going to steal it, big guy.”
“Even if I want to borrow it, haven’t you cut off all communication?”
“What’s the difference between this and a rat?”
Yeon-young raised an eyebrow and looked at the bracelet.
For some reason, the communication was too quiet.
It was good that it was quiet, but it was alarming.
“I hope you haven’t been hurt by your own complacency.”
“As you can see, I am unharmed.”
“Your soul will be consumed by your power.”
“How long will you fight in my stead?”
“Why can’t I protect my world when I can protect others?”
Ryu Won leapt into the air at the entrance to the training center and charged at Zhaolin.
Zhaolin pushed him back a little and fought back with her legs.
“Both of you, stop it, why are you fighting?”
But they didn’t seem to hear her.
Their eyes were as dull and emotionless as when they looked at Snarl.
Looking into those eyes, Yeon-young realized that Ryu Won had lost his composure. Zhaolin was in danger.
Boom!
An invisible wind collided with a huge flame that seemed to pierce the ceiling of the gym, creating a roaring sound.
Seeing their chance, the other spirits in the training hall retreated, evacuating outside.
Intermittent sparks flew across the darkened training grounds.
“Ms. Zhaolin will be hurt.”
Zhaolin, who had been able to block Ryu Won’s attacks with ease, was losing ground as time went on.
The size of the flames was much smaller than when they first fought.
Ryu Won had overpowered her.
‘Is Ryu Won’s power really that strong?’
From the way he had easily subdued the other spirits, she could tell that Ryu Won ‘s abilities were high.
But today, the atmosphere was different.
The ceiling of the training hall began to burn from the fire, and ashes fell down bit by bit.
The flames were completely exhausted, leaving nothing but Zhaolin floating in the air.
“Ms. Zhaolin.”
The battle was over. Ryu Won had won.
So it was only right that Ryu Won should let her go now, but he grabbed Zhaolin and wouldn’t let go.
She kicked her feet in the air and writhed in pain. Her neck slowly began to become transparent.
It was a precursor to dissolution.
“You’re crazy.”
Ryu Won watched her with unmoved eyes.
It was like watching an earthworm die under the scorching sun.
Yeon-young focused on their cores to check on Zhaolin’s condition.
‘Ryu Won’s core is…’
Zhaolin’s core shrank like a dying red flame.
Ryu Won’s core, on the other hand, was slowly turning black.
She had seen this before. In Snarl’s memory.
“Ryu Won, stop!”
‘What triggered his mind?’
She shouted at him. She screamed at him so hard that her voice was a mess of sound.
Her desperate scream caused his gaze to shift from Zhaolin to Ryu Won.
Ryu Won stared into space for a moment, his hands in his uniform coat.
Then he asked in a deep, grave voice.
“Ms. Yeon-young, I think it would be better to get rid of them all.”
“What?”
“Then I would be comfortable.”
“Put Ms. Zhaolin down and let’s talk.”
“This time I really don’t want to miss it.”
Ryu Won shook his head and looked down at the ground.
The black aura surrounding his core could be seen raging wildly.
Biting her lip so hard that her lips turned transparent, Yeon-young rushed towards him without a second thought.
When he saw her coming, he just stood there. Ryu Won ran towards her.
Feeling the distance physically close, she reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck.
She pulled him towards her and he fell into her arms in a clumsy embrace.
The scent of Ryu Won’s body lingered at the tip of her nose and she was relieved. It was still okay.
“Whatever it is, it’s not like that.”
“Yeon-young.”
“I can’t be happy like this.”
Yeon-young locked eyes with him. Ryu Won squinted out of the corner of his eye, as if remembering something.
As he locked eyes with her, his cloudy eyes became clearer and clearer, like the Milky Way.
Ryu Won put his hand on her back to steady her.
She looked at his left ring finger. The black aura from earlier had subsided.
She reached out and squeezed the spot where the core was.
“I thought you gave me a leash.”
“…….”
“You said it was mine, so you’ll stop when I tell you to.”
His pupils dilated slightly.
*Shuffle*
Behind him she heard the sound of the Zhaolin hitting the ground.
He didn’t turn at the sound of a cough that followed. Zhaolin was fine.
Yeon-young carefully released her grip on his ring finger.
As if on cue, a transparent, crystal clear white core appeared.
Ryu Won looked at his hands in disbelief.
“Mr. Ryu Won, are you alright?”
“I…”
Ryu Won stammered, seemingly preoccupied with what had just happened.
Ever since he entered the training center, he had been unable to control his emotions.
It was as if his mind had been taken over.
Looking at his clear eyes, he seemed to have completely returned to his normal self now.
“Thank you for catching him.”
“It’s a help-me world.”
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
“I’m fine.”
“Well, that’s good to hear, because I have this…”
He wiped his face with confused eyes. Yeon-young was glad that Ryu Won had come to his senses.
She hadn’t expected him to actually wake up to her words, even though she was talking about a leash.
She felt like a wild animal keeper. She glanced at the now vanished black aura.
‘What had she just seen in Ryu Won?’
“What happened before you came here?”
She could hear his irregular breathing above her.
If Ryu Won had a heart, it would have been beating loudly.
Yeon-young wanted to ask him a lot of questions, but she held back.
Ryu Won slowly took a step back.
“Where are you going?”
Sensing that he was about to leave, Yeon-young looked at him.
Ryu Won’s eyes were still on his hands.
The sight was enough to trigger a scene in Ryu Won’s memory.
Only without the blood, it was similar to the image in Ryu Won’s memory of him looking sadly at someone.
Yeon-young extended her hand to him. He smiled faintly, but he nonchalantly avoided her touch.
Sensing this, Yeon-young tugged at the collar of his uniform coat.
“Why are you running away?”
“Because I think it’s dangerous right now.”
“It’s more dangerous to be alone, so stay with me. You always told me not to go anywhere alone.”
At her words he stared at her in disbelief.
In the distance she could hear Zhaolin’s voice mixed with a moan.
She clutched her throat and tried to slowly lift herself from the floor.
“Well, in this world of helping and living, ugh, why don’t you include me?”
“Are you OK?”
“I’m fine, I kind of expected this.”
Yeon-young helped her up and smoothed Zhaolin’s clothes.
Zhaolin frowned and complained of stiffness in her joints, but she didn’t seem to be seriously injured.
“Why don’t you go to the emergency room?”
“Do you understand the sensations that are blocking your abilities?”
“Er, yes. It’s like when I concentrate on something with the feeling of being squeezed, it blocks it.”
Zhaolin nodded slightly in agreement with Yeon-young’s explanation.
She felt as if her mind had cleared for the first time in a long time, probably because she had managed to control her raging abilities.
“Thank you, Ms. Zhaolin.”
Yeon-young thanked her sincerely.
Without her, this method would have been difficult to learn.
She gave her a warm smile, like a ray of midday sun.
Seeing that smile, Zhaolin stood still for a moment, as if time had stopped.
“It’s your fault I didn’t reincarnate.”
“What?”
“It’s annoying to think that our connection is deeper than I thought.”
Zhaolin rambled on, something she didn’t usually do.
Yeon-young didn’t quite understand what she was saying.
But she nodded, hoping that their connection was deeper than she realized.
