Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 72
Yeon-young poured a potion of Sly’s powder into the snarling Sly.
Half of its body had gone dark, as if filled with black smoke.
As the liquid poured in, the Sly gradually regained its beautiful transparent glow.
Jaeho, who had been watching the scene with his arms crossed, suddenly spoke up.
“Kim Yeon-young, come with me.”
“Where at this time?”
“My room.”
“Is this a new form of domestic violence?”
She turned and stared at Jaeho, startled by the news.
Tanato’s warm sunlight illuminated his whole body. Jaeho was blue and glowing, like a shimmering sheen on the ocean.
During the day, several Slys in the forest had been contaminated by another mutated snarl attack.
For the time being, the Centre was only attempting to treat souls with low levels of snarl.
As soon as they heard of the Snarl invasion, they rescued the contaminated Slys and quarantined them in another area.
Yeon-young and Jaeho had joined forces to help the Slys recover.
But he wants her to go to his room.
Only a madman could say such a thing.
“You have no real answers, you.”
That was Jaeho’s usual attitude these days.
He was always like that lately. He talked nonsense, but his behaviour was strangely friendly.
He would casually throw things away and leave, claiming that his research was complete.
This is how he tries to work in a team.
He began to noticeably hover around Yeon-young.
Yeon-young sighed at Jaeho’s casual attitude and grabbed the empty bottle.
“Let’s go.”
“You want me to go because you want me to go?”
“I was just being polite. You don’t really know me yet, do you?”
Jaeho laughed as he lay down in the field and gently pushed her pills up.
Yeon-young felt her nerves flutter.
He examined the cleaned Slys with a suspicious eye. It was as if he were at the market, picking out the freshest ingredients.
Feeling a chill, Yeon-young blocked his view and said no.
“Stop thinking strange thoughts and help with the restoration if you have nothing better to do.”
“You’re the first ghost to make me such a bold offer.”
“Yeah, I bet you haven’t.”
Jaeho looked at Yeon-young in disbelief.
Yeon-young waved her hand in the air, annoyed that Jaeho was following her around without doing anything to help.
She had found it strange that he had agreed to go to the forest when Ryu Won was out of town.
It was hard to read what was in those crystal-clear eyes.
“Will you leave if I help you?”
“Stop bothering me.”
“If I wanted to bother you, I could have used a different method. For example, I could have done something else with this purified Sly powder.”
There was a coolness in his eyes, as beautiful as a fairytale lake.
Yeon-young turned away from Jaeho’s gaze and hugged the Sly tightly.
Long gone was the boy with the mint-coloured mop of hair he always wore.
Jaeho had let his wavy, shiny hair grow out a bit and wore it casually slicked back.
He looked like the unicorn of legend.
That was because as he grew, his colouring became lighter and more mysterious than his original.
“Do you remember anything?”
“Nothing.”
He’d definitely changed since his transformation. The frequency of his strange questions had increased, just like now.
He asked if she remembered anything from her past life when Ryu Won wasn’t around.
It bothered her that he pretended to know everything.
Still, Jaeho smiled lazily and waited for Yeon-young’s answer.
“If not, let’s go to my room.”
“Bullshit.”
Jaeho snatched the Sly out of Yeon-young’s arms and threw it on the floor.
No amount of pretty wrapping paper could hide his shitty personality.
“Mime.”
“Hey, you crazy bastard!”
Yeon-young jumped to her feet and looked at the Sly first.
Jaeho looked bored, even though he’d thrown the creature to the ground.
The Sly landed firmly on the ground, unharmed, but whimpering at her.
It glared at Jaeho with all its might, but was in no mood to back down.
He looked as if he wanted to take Yeon-young back to his room.
Unable to overcome Jaeho with words and force, Yeon-young had an idea.
“Okay, let’s go to your room.”
“Really?”
“Only if you get rid of all the Slys here.”
Yeon-Young looked around at the Slys in the forest.
The number of Snarls that had entered the forest last night had been higher than expected, so the number of contaminated Slys was quite high.
Even if they divided the work from now on, it would still take them half a day.
So it was practically impossible for Jaeho to finish the job alone today.
Jaeho smiled softly and said, “Keep your promise.”
“You keep your promise. Now get to work.”
Jaeho’s last words came just as Yeon-young picked up the disc.
Gently, he held back his hand and put the Sly back on the floor.
Jaeho shrugged, his fingers moving in the air like piano keys.
“What the…”
*Pomp, pomp*
Thousands of drops of water erupted from his fingertips, lifting all the potions off the ground.
A sense of foreboding washed over Yeon-young as she watched all the potions, which must have numbered a hundred, float into the air.
The lids of the potions opened and the liquid seeped into the droplets.
The drops of liquid dripped onto the snarling body of the Slys.
It was a graceful gesture, like a conductor leading an orchestra.
His power has grown.
Yeon-young was mesmerized by the beauty of it all and watched the power flow.
From Jaeho’s right earlobe, She could see a waterfall of power flowing out.
‘Uh, the color of the core is…’
Suddenly, a bit of black energy seeped into the core.
It was a brief moment, like the blink of an eye.
When Yeon-young opened her mouth to call Jaeho’s name, only a clear core remained in his earlobe.
Jaeho looked up at her, his eyes wide and unblinking.
“Kim Yeon-young, it’s over.”
“What? So soon?”
When she realised it was over, she noticed that all the isolated Slys had returned to their original form.
He patted her on the back, unable to hide his triumphant grin.
This was the moment Yeon-young fell for his trick.
“Half a day,” he said. “This will be fun. I’ll take you to places you’ve never been before.”
Jaeho’s words made Yeon-young’s face darken.
If she tried to break her promise now, he wouldn’t listen.
She checked the panic button on her bracelet to make sure it worked, then turned to face him.
“Safety assured.”
“Hmm?”
“Promise me you won’t use me as a guinea pig or turn me into an experiment.”
“Promise… I will.”
He replied good-naturedly.
Then he tapped his piercing to open the teleport and pushed her inside.
Yeon-young swallowed a groan and struggled to her feet. She heard Jaeho chuckle, whether he was watching or not.
“Hmph.”
As the teleportation faded, they stepped out into a dank, dark cave.
It was a far cry from the purifying caves she’d seen in the mountains to the northwest.
This one was darker, slimier and more sinister.
“You said we were going to your room.”
“No, we stopped somewhere else on the way.”
“Ha… let’s not talk. How do we get out?”
Unlike the cave of purification, it was quite deep and wide, and there was no exit in sight.
Jaeho pushed Yeon-young’s back with his cold hands.
When she shivered slightly at the unexpected contact, he quickly pulled his hands away.
“Go deeper, all the way in.”
“Is that a threat?”
Yeon-Young closed her eyes and read the flow of power, trying to find a way out of the cave.
The power auras in the cave were Jaeho and Yeon-young. There were only two of them.
‘But why did they come here?’
The damp ground and the humid air felt strangely familiar.
At that moment, Yeon-young remembered the emergency exit she’d opened to find Ryu Won on her first day at the Centre.
This must be the cave she had seen then.
“This is the cave connected to the emergency exit, right?”
“Clever.”
“Why the hell would they connect it to this place?”
“Who knows, it could be an emergency exit.”
Jaeho stood beside Yeon-young and tapped absentmindedly on the cave wall.
Every tap produced a different echo. There must be many rooms connected to the cave.
In the end, they couldn’t find the entrance or exit.
When they reached the halfway point and Yeon-young stopped walking impatiently, Jaeho asked, “Do you want to go out?”
“Who wouldn’t want to go out? Stop playing around and let me out.”
“Isn’t this fun?”
“What’s funny?”
“I heard that girls like to go on exotic dates.”
Yeon-young fiddled with her right wristband and looked at Jaeho.
Jaeho tapped his hand on the cave wall, his eyes innocent and childlike.
“Let’s go outside and talk.”
“Okay, I’ll tell you how to get out. Just beg the cave to let you out.”
“Are you really going to tease me that much?”
“Why should I? There are plenty of other ways I could tease you. I’m really trying to help you.”
“You are?”
“Yes. I have a reason for keeping you alive.”
She frowned, questioning Jaeho’s intelligence.
Jaeho turned to her, his eyes serious. It wasn’t a face that lied.
Yeon-young let out a small sigh and pressed her palm to her forehead.
Then she begged in an uncertain tone.
“Please let me out.”
Jaeho smiled in satisfaction.
BANG!
As soon as Yeon-young had finished speaking, a door appeared from the cave wall.
She nervously pulled the doorknob and it opened, revealing a laboratory with a pile of various laboratory equipment.
