I set a deadline of the following Monday at 10 a.m.

I decided to make a video to prove the exorcism. This was possible because the ‘tinker’ in the video was clearly visible to the public.

The problem could have been solved immediately by using an amulet to exorcise the ghost, or an amulet that tells the location of the ghost, like the one used at the highway station.

But I won’t use Seo Jun’s amulet this time.

I’m going to continue my exorcism business here at the school, and it’s too disrespectful to ask Seo Jun for help every time something like this happens.

After all, I had just learned a short lesson on the principles of identifying and summoning demons at the training center.

The amulet is a diagram of the principles tied to a piece of paper so that it can be conveniently used with little effort.

‘They’re two different things,’ I thought, ‘but they’re both about the same thing: ghosts possessing people.’

To be fair, calling the ghost here was more like the exorcist possessing the ghost, and chasing the ghost directly to its location was more like the exorcist pretending to be possessed by the ghost.

Then there’s the matter of how spiritual power and the exorcist’s will are added to determine the scope and effect.

I don’t really know because it was only briefly mentioned.

I’ll have to ask Mr. Kang again today.

‘Oh, but Mr. Kang In-joo is a little scary…’

Mr. Kang In-joo is the second-year teacher at Branch 4.

Mr. Kang is a great teacher who rewards students who work hard and want to grow.

That’s because he’s “relentless”.

If I came to him and said, “I want to learn more about something you briefly touched on yesterday,” he would hold me until I understood it perfectly and give me a one-on-one lesson.

It doesn’t matter if it’s 11 p.m. or 12 a.m.

Oh, that’s not to say that I’m afraid of him because he’s strict with drills, theory classes, or anything else.

The only people who were afraid of him because of that aspect were Hwang Hanju and some friends who didn’t want to stay in high school forever.

I was just afraid of his aura itself. Yes, just like Mr. Jang Jin-cheol.

I didn’t do anything wrong, but he just made me break out in a cold sweat.

I wonder if everyone felt the same way, and I would get a little nervous whenever Mr. Kang came into view, even if he didn’t stab me.

The only one who could be calm and relaxed in front of him was Yin Charang. An extraordinary bastard.

I slowly walked around the hall for a few rounds, thinking about this and that.

Ten minutes before the bell rang, I returned to the classroom at a leisurely pace.

* * *

“How’d it go?”

Seo Jun’s voice was uncharacteristically languid, as if he had just woken up from a nap.

“They were funny seniors.”

“Not the client…”

“It was a normal exorcism request, and I’m supposed to get rid of it by next Monday.”

“That’s a lot of time, huh?”

“Uh, yeah, but not a lot, because I want to try a new skill, and I don’t know if it will work.”

The first skill I learned after opening my account to 90% was “Light with my eyes closed”.

I’m going to use this skill to find Tinker. I’m not quite sure how to use it yet, but I have a hunch that the way he spreads black energy through the air will be useful for exorcising ghosts.

I’ll have to be diligent about building up my skill stats when I get the chance.

I don’t want to end up regretting what I did last Friday against the Head Collector.

I was so dazed.

I hadn’t expected to be stuck with an underdeveloped “Creator of Something from Nothing” skill.

‘But I’ve gotten used to it now, thanks to the pain in my ass that day.’

In the future, I’ll have to practice floating freely and picking things up while floating.

Oh, come to think of it, Seo Jun did the same thing to teach me how to combine spirit and spells.

“Hey, Seo Jun.”

“Huh?”

“You can just spontaneously break free?”

“Um, yeah, kind of, but not often.”

When I looked at her, Seo Jun looked away as if she didn’t know.

“I don’t want to tell you anymore because I think you’re going to… get in trouble for going out of body without even trying.”

“Oh, come on. I don’t do it often.”

I couldn’t seem to get the mirror to work with the inventory function.

After begging her to show me how to do it, I finally got Seo Jun to give me her tips on how to go out of body,

“Imagine you’re pulling your body out and pulling your soul straight out.”

“Is that it?”

“Yes.”

“……?”

“Just focus on the feeling of your soul leaving your body. Towards the top of your head, like this.”

“And how do you do that? Is there a gesture, like when you open your bank account?”

“No. Do you want me to pull your hair or something?”

I really just “listened” to the tip.

“Damn, Seo Jun, you shouldn’t be a teacher in the future. I don’t think teaching is for you.”

“Whatever. You don’t understand. Has it ever occurred to you that being taught is not your thing?”

“No, but that doesn’t mean I can stop being a student.”

“Huh…”

I can’t help it. I’ll have to ask Mr. Kang…, or rather Senior Shin, to tell you the details.

If I ask Mr. Kang that much, he’ll have to teach me all night.

I’d be very grateful if he could tutor me, but taking the first train to the House of Representatives is a bit…

I was debating whether it’s better to stop at home and then go to school if I have to spend the night at the institute, or go straight from the institute to school, when someone called me.

“Hey, where have you been? Didn’t she come talk to you today?”

It was Min Jiyoon, the president of our class.

“Huh? Who?”

“Moon Soo-hee, do you know her? She’s in class 6.”

“No, I don’t know her.”

“Soo-hee, she’s the president of the science club.”

Science club? Oh, she’s here to see me about the water in the science lab yesterday.

“About the strange water?” I ask and Min Jiyoon nods.

“You heard about the water in the science lab? I guess they want to fix it before club time this week. Moon Soo-hee said the water smells fishy.”

“Oh, that must be really annoying if you can smell it.”

Apparently, Soo-hee was one of the people who insisted that the water pooling on the floor of the science lab was no ordinary leak.

“What was the color of the water?”

“Oh, the color was like transparent water. There were others who said it looked black.”

“I see.”

Each person’s vulnerable senses seemed to have been penetrated a little.

“What class did she say she was in? I’ll see her after the fifth period.”

“Sophomore, sixth grade.”

“Okay, thanks for telling me.”

“No problem.”

Min Jiyoon returned to her seat with a proud smile on her face.

Looks like I’m going to have a full day today, and even though it’s only two cases, it feels like I’ve been busy.

‘Not bad.’

It was good to have more work to fill my defense backlog.

“Business must be good.”

Seo Jun, who had been quietly listening to me and Min Jiyoon, spoke up.

“You’re very sharp today.”

“Not annoying?”

“No way, you’re not annoying me. What are you talking about?”

I exaggerated the “no way” gesture.

I had to stop myself from raising the bar for exorcism requests.

“I do it because I like it, I like it.”

“You’re pretty desperate.”

I added another word and Seo Jun whispered so that only I could hear.

“No, I’m serious. Why do you sound like you’re making excuses?”

Seo Jun was joking, but I couldn’t help but feel like I was being interrogated.

“Oh, is that another lie?”

I suddenly wondered.

I hadn’t told Seo Jun about my talent. Nor had I told her why I was running an exorcism business on campus. To explain that, I’d have to reveal the state of my exorcist talent.

“I don’t know.”

I leaned my forehead against my desk, blaming my hunger.

* * *

“Wait, I’ll get the key to the science lab.”

Fifth period recess.

I peeked into the 6th grade classroom and a friend with her hair pulled back in a tight bun recognized me and rushed out.

It was Moon Soo-hee.

She said she would get the key and ran to the teachers’ room and back in a minute.

“You can take your time.”

“No, I can’t let you wait that long!”

Moon Soo-hee led the way, her eyes shining brightly.

“But you recognized me right away?”

“Of course I did. Didn’t you come to our class the other day when the bug thing happened?”

I was rushing from class to class and didn’t even get a chance to say hello. I can’t believe she remembered.

“I’m really good at remembering people’s faces. Once I see you, I can’t forget you.”

Moon Soo-hee giggled with pride.

She was half Kwon Yuri and half Cha Hanbyul. She was more talkative than Yuri and a little more reserved than Hanbyul.

 “Soo-hee, you’re a nervous wreck, aren’t you?”

“Yes, I often hear that. Maybe it’s because I’m E. Actually, I’m the only E in our club, which is why I’m the vice president.”

It was similar to Hanbyul’s way of casually inserting TMI.

Listening to Moon Soo-hee, we quickly arrived at the science room.

With the familiarity of a science club president, she chose one of the three keys, unlocked the door, and turned on a fluorescent light switch hidden by a dummy.

“Oh, the switch is over there.”

I shrugged, my hand feeling for the wall next to the door.

“There are two science labs connected, but only this one opens from the outside. Our club uses the one over there.”

I opened the door to the right of the blackboard and stepped into the second science lab in question.

“It would be cool to have a secret door like that, don’t you think?”

“Haha, yeah.”

I replied, my eyes quickly scanning the second lab, which was even more outdated than the first.

There were no desks, no chalkboards, no display cases for lab supplies, and the periodic table and models that adorned the back wall of the room reeked of years of use.

“Yuck. I can still smell it.”

Moon Soo-hee, the first to enter, covered her nose and stepped back.

The source of the smell was immediately obvious.

The back corner of the classroom was covered with several black garbage bags.

“You heard the story, right? I don’t think this is normal water. My friend said the water was black. Oh, she didn’t mistake it for the garbage bags! She said the liquid was obviously black.”

“Mmm, okay.”

“Well, well, well, the water must have gotten worse.”

Water leaked from the edge of the garbage bag and pooled.

 “Soo-hee, maybe.”

“Huh?”

I asked Soo-hee, double checking that the account was still about 60% open.

“Did anyone else say they heard something?”
