Evelyn thought he’d come straight after he got back, but he was in a light shirt, like he’d taken a shower or something.

‘But what did I promise him?’

Forgetting her confession from earlier, Evelyn looked at him with bewildered eyes.

“What consolation…?”

He raised an eyebrow as if she’d forgotten, and slowly began to unbutton his shirt.

Her gaze shifted to the open shirt, and her eyes widened in panic.

“Oh, my God!”

From his broad shoulders to his firm chest to his well-defined abs. He was covered in scars, large and small.

“You’ve been hurt a lot.”

Evelyn gingerly reached out and touched his wounds. His shirt fell from his body and landed on the floor.

When she lifted her gaze to run it along his toned muscles, his sun-like eyes stared back at her.

“Heal me. I need your touch right now.”

He grabbed her and pulled her close. Their bodies pressed together, no air between them.

Her mouth went dry at the naked heat between their bodies.

“Except for the mark you left on my neck.”

The mark on his neck?

Evelyn ran her fingertips down his neck. From beneath his earlobe, she could see a reddish bruise along the thick nape of his neck.

“This… I left behind?”

Evelyn rolled her eyes in disbelief. He shouldn’t be surprised; they hadn’t seen each other in over a week.

“Well, even if I did, there’s no way I could have left a bruise this long…”

He had a body so hard you could pinch it and not leave a mark.

Who could believe a bruise hadn’t faded in a week on a body like that?

Seeing the doubt in her expression, Kalian protested with a serious face.

“You have not forgotten, I hope, that you are the only woman who can touch me.”

“That’s true, but…”

She twisted her upper body slightly to free herself from his embrace, and he pressed himself closer to her as if it were impossible.

“Which means you’re the first person in this life to have me completely in your possession.”

He kissed her still trembling cheek.

Then he leaned down and buried his lips in the nape of her neck.

“Don’t try to tell me you don’t remember. If you don’t believe me, kiss the trail again right now.”

Evelyn wondered if he meant to check if their lips were the same size.

Whatever it was, she wasn’t sure, but he was right when he said she was the only one who could touch him.

Her heart fluttered at the thought of being the only woman who had him all to herself.

“And you wanted to comfort me with your own words. I’m not the most patient of men, you know.”

She remembers saying those words.

And now, the most tangible comfort between them was the act of touching each other to heal.

Evelyn swallowed dryly and lifted her eyes from where they rested on the nape of his neck.

The golden orbs held her gaze as if waiting for her.

“I can’t concentrate on our conversation because I’m too busy wondering how you’re going to satisfy me.”

“What’s that, suck…”

Before she had time to reply, their lips locked together as if they’d always been one.

Wet lips frantically rubbed against each other, sticky saliva dripping through the cracks.

Ragged breathing and the creaking of the old table echoed through the silence like an ensemble.

“Ka, Kalian. Uh, please…!”

Evelyn, caught up in the frenzy, clung to the nape of his neck with a hot moan, pleading,

“Come here.”

As if to say he would do as she wished, Kalian swept her up and carried her across the table.

Evelyn, held lightly in his arms, wrapped her legs tightly around his waist.

With her thighs firmly against his, he kissed her softly and sat down on the floor.

The old wooden floor creaked as their bodies pressed together, their lips locking even deeper.

“Mmm.”

Evelyn’s whole body tingled at the stealthy strokes at the nape of her neck and along her spine.

The sensation was so erotic that it made her toes tingle.

“Haah… Kalian.”

She shoved his shoulder in embarrassment, and he pushed back obediently, laughing softly.

Their eyes locked, and without warning, their lips met again.

They twisted their heads together instinctively, as if no one had ever taught them how to pursue each other more satisfyingly.

“Ha, ha…”

Their movements intensified a little more, and then Evelyn exhaled and looked up at him with lazy, relaxed eyes.

“Don’t look at me like that. I don’t want to hurt you.”

Despite his caring tone, Kalian looked as if he would eat her at a moment’s notice and began to stroke her.

Feeling dazed, Evelyn slid her fingers through his hair.

It was hot. She could feel the humid steam rising from everywhere, clouding her vision.

Evelyn, wanting to quench this thirst somehow, ran her hands up his body.

The emotional bond of shared secrets made the hairs on the nape of her neck stand up at the slightest hint of loose breath.

She couldn’t tell if it was the heat in his eyes or his large hand over the back of her that made her blush.

“Mmm, it feels, it feels so strange”

Kalian kissed Evelyn’s lips and cheeks, gradually lowering his lips as he stained the nape of her neck red.

“To say it’s strange, you look like you’ve already reached the celestial realm.”

The soft glow of the lamp illuminated the two of them. Lying beneath him, her green eyes sparkled as she looked up at him, her body covered in congestion like a scattering of crimson petals.

Evelyn’s survival instincts kicked in as she tried to push back against the overwhelming force of his eyes.

“Oh, I don’t think I can…”

Knowing it was useless, Evelyn pushed off the floor with her toes and flinched.

As if on cue, Kalian grabbed her flailing ankle and pulled her down.

“Just lie still, I’ve got this.”

Evelyn held her breath, nervously, and he crouched over her, kissing the nape of her neck.

“If it hurts, hold me, honey.”

Evelyn’s waist flexed like a bow at the long-overdue act.

A wild gleam flashed in his eyes as he took in the obscene sight.

“I’m going to have to hold you every day from now on.”

Her eyes flickered open. A sense of crisis rushed through her.

Evelyn gripped his forearm urgently.

“Ha, you’re spinning.”

A lower-than-usual gasp and a small curse scraped down the man’s neck and broke in her ear.

His brow creased as he too struggled to hold back the rush of pleasure.

He was not a man of many facial expressions, and the mere glimpse of his sexually charged face made her mouth dry and her breath catch in her throat.

Just as he felt the giant pit beneath him, like the mark of the Guardian on his chest, churning against his inner walls, a frame came into Evelyn’s vision.

“……”

A single, tangled shadow fell over the portrait on the floor.

The woman in the frame seemed to glare at her. For a moment, she felt a strange sense of treachery and fear at the same time, but her thoughts didn’t follow.

Evelyn tossed and turned on the rough waves he was creating.

She had no time to feel ashamed, and was glad that his body’s darkness hid her indecency.

“Awww! Kal, Kalian…”

Hugging him tightly against her back, she unconsciously raised her nails and raked them vigorously across his flesh.

But she couldn’t leave any marks on his skin, which was as hard as tanned leather.

Wrapping his arms around her sliding body again, he pulled her back so that her lips touched the nape of his neck.

“You don’t think that’s going to leave a mark, do you? Bite down and suck as hard as you did before.”

He whispers teasingly. He adds a warning.

“And don’t ever erase the marks you’ve made on my body. And don’t cover up the marks I’ve made.”

“Hmph, why, why, why?”

His silence reminded her of the knights who wore their scars like a badge of honour.

There was no way he would consider his wounds a badge of honour, and even knowing that, her heart leapt into her throat.

“Hold my neck, you’ll hurt yourself.”

“Ah……!”

Evelyn’s vision went white.

Their lips met and they shared a long breath, the thick scent of hedonism wafting in the air.

“Ha, Evelyn.”

A low sigh escaped his lips, the deep satisfaction in his voice suggesting he’d missed her.

Thump, thump, thump.

As their hearts touched, a heavy rumble rumbled in his heart, which had been relatively quiet until now.

He hugged her hard enough to crush her, but the tremor that lingered in his body refused to go away.

The long, thirst-quenching night was just beginning.
