The remote tower of Hyrad where Yohan stayed.

A gloomy, old, and desolate building that does not match the splendid Duke’s house.

Surprisingly, Yohan had preserved its exterior just as it was.

‘Wow, it brings back old memories.’

After looking up at the long tower stretching towards the full moon for a long time, I started climbing it like I used to.

Of course, I turned into a squirrel, just like in the old days.

Yohan definitely needed calming down, and meeting him in my divine beast form was the most effective way.

Wasn’t that why he asked me to come to the tower at night?

‘It’s exactly the same as the old days.’

Now the master of this castle was Yohan, and I didn’t have any Hyrad seal or anything like that.

After quickly climbing the tower, I knocked on the window like I used to.

“Momo.”

The window opened and Yohan, who was inside, approached.

“Kyuung.”

When I gave him a displeased look, he smiled deeply and took me in his hand.

“But I really wanted to call you that today.”

“Kyuung.”

I couldn’t speak, so I couldn’t say anything more.

“I expected this….”

Yohan lay down on the bed, holding me in his arms.

The bed, which once suited young Yohan, now looked incredibly small.

“You came in the form of a squirrel.”

‘Of course. I need to calm you down.’

“Kyuuung?”

And the divine beast form is the most efficient way to do that. When I waved my forepaw, Yohan nodded slightly with a softened gaze.

“Well, that was a good choice.”

I immediately put my front paw on his forehead.

As expected, the magical power was running wild.

Not as bad as the day we first met, but still painful enough.

I quietly began absorbing the magic, but Yohan’s expression didn’t change much.

‘Is this what being an adult is like? When he was a kid, his feelings showed on his face right away.’

Judging by how quickly the magic was settling, he should be feeling much better, but Yohan only looked at me with drowsy eyes.

“Why is our Momo so pretty?”

“Kyung?”

“Your sparkling eyes are pretty, your stripes are neat, and your tail is cute too.”

Stop complimenting me and focus on calming down.

As I puffed my cheeks in annoyance, Yohan gently stroked my belly.

“Your belly is soft too.”

“Kyuuung!”

Even if I used to flip over and show my belly for Yohan’s sake, I didn’t give permission this time!

“Don’t act this cute in front of anyone else.”

I’ve never tried to act cute in my life.

When I tilted my head in confusion, he smiled softly and whispered,

“No, even when you do nothing, you’re still cute. So it’s best if you don’t go anywhere else.”

‘What nonsense are you talking about? No matter how cute a squirrel may be, it’s still a squirrel.’

After absorbing a moderate amount of magic power, I lifted my front paws and glared at him. Yohan grinned and asked,

“What? If you absorb more, will you turn into a human?”

I nodded.

In fact, absorbing too much magic would forcibly return me to human form, which was a bit of a problem.

Even though Yohan had seen me transform many times, if I turned human right now, I’d end up stark naked and lying on top of him.

And the atmosphere here…

Back in the day, I didn’t think much of it, but now it felt genuinely remote and isolated from people.

‘Oh, wait a minute.’

Suddenly, I shivered at a memory from the original story.

‘Wasn’t this the place where Johan imprisoned Mariel in the original story?’

It looked like the perfect place to keep someone locked up.

There’s no one around, and even if I scream as loud as I can, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to hear me downstairs.

‘Well, that’s probably why Ella locked Yohan up here…’

I felt my tail bristle slightly, but Yohan looked perfectly calm.

“Kyuuuung.”

So calm, he didn’t even look particularly pleased.

Why is that? He should feel great after being calmed down.

When I tilted my head and waved my paw, Yohan’s eyes lit up with amusement.

“Are you asking if I’m calm now? Yeah, I am.”

I wasn’t asking that. I was asking why he looked so indifferent.

When I stared at him, Yohan smiled and lightly patted my forehead.

“That’s because I want more.”

A wizard can still want more after all that? Even after I helped you calm down?

Anyway, I had something I needed to say to him too.

Jayden came earlier and did it too hastily, so I still had to apologize formally.

“Kyuuuung.”

I pointed to his lips and looked sullen.

It meant I was sorry for kissing him earlier without permission.

“Kyuuuuung.”

As an apology, I bowed my head with my front paws together.

I had already apologized briefly, but I couldn’t help feeling guilty.

After all, I still needed his help going forward.

In fact, Yohan’s role was very important in the plans that were to be implemented in the future.

He stared at me intently for a long time, then chuckled softly. Then he spoke in a distant voice.

“Momo.”

“Kyung?”

“Can I give you some advice?”

Who is giving advice to whom now?

I was about to snort, but Yohan gently stroked my back.

“Don’t give the hungry wizard a bit of your kindness.”

“Kyung?”

“Because next time, they’ll want even more.”

His voice was oddly chilling. I stared at him, slightly stiffened.

Then he smiled deeply and whispered,

“You don’t know how lucky I am that you need me.”

“Kyung?”

“I need you so much… You can’t even imagine how happy I am to be involved in something like this.”

“Kyungg….”

“So whenever you need me, just say the word. I’ll do anything. In fact, with just one kiss from you, you could save Theodore’s life.”

Well, there’s something odd about the cause and effect.

“I’ll act like a loyal hunting dog that only looks at you—I’ll be very obedient from now on….”

‘I’m the real beast, so why are you acting like a hunting dog?’

“Just stay by my side, Yurika.”

And then his lips gently touched my forehead.

Thank goodness I was in squirrel form.

If I were human Yurika, I wouldn’t have been able to hide my pounding heart or flushed face.

“That’s enough for me.”

His low, seductive voice, the decadent air from his relaxed posture on the bed, and those sensual eyes watching me silently—Dangerous. This is dangerous.

The instinct of the beast flashed within me, warning me.

Even in those gentle violet eyes watching me, a villainous persistence lingered.

This wizard, this man, is dangerous.

He grew up dangerously.

For a moment, I tried to run away, but was caught by his hand.

He whispered as if he was having fun.

“Do you really think you can run away?”

“Kyungg!”

Of course, I expected to be caught in your hands again!

As I wagged my front paws, he calmly asked,

“Why?”

His lips curled in an elegant smile—it was almost bewitching.

“Were you really trying to leave?”

‘No, that’s not it… I’m just a little embarrassed.’

As I rubbed my eyes with my paws in awkwardness, he slowly released his grip on me.

“Shall I let you go?”

The spot where his warmth had been now felt a little empty.

Maybe that’s why, even though he let go, I hesitated to move.

Yohan continued to speak as he quietly looked at me.

“We were each other’s only ones, weren’t we?”

Well, that’s true.

I couldn’t help but nod my head as if I was possessed by something.

At times like this, Yohan really seems like a monster.

“Whatever path you walk, just keep doing it. Use me however you want.”

His lips softly brushed over my fur as he continued to whisper,

“Just use me and always leave me in one place. Right by your side.”

I tried hard to calm my mind.

I don’t know about anything else, but it was true that I still had work to do.

I still had something to do.

I was still walking this path.

And the truth was, I still needed Yohan.

Because I was still planning something big to uncover the truth and get revenge.

‘I wonder if things are going well outside the Duke of Hyrad’s estate. Crown Prince Roymond better be doing a good job.

* * *

The day after Yurika ran away, Crown Prince Roymond raised a suspicion during a State Council meeting:

Was the temple deliberately distributing divine beasts to weak wizards?

Logically speaking, shouldn’t the divine beast have gone to Yohan, not Tezen, from the Duke of Hyrad’s household?

Roymond insisted the truth behind it needed to be investigated.

But since the divine beast sale had occurred several years prior, it didn’t attract much attention.

There were more urgent state matters, and few people had any stake in the divine beast issue.

Still, the remark didn’t go unnoticed—it was enough for it to reach the ears of the temple.
