K6.

Kade felt a cluster of lights gathering in his own hands.

“The spirits are sending signals.”

At those words, the Master of the Magic Tower, who was looking out of the window, turned his head his way. Kade continued as he heard footsteps approaching.

“It looks like he tried to attack after all.”

“…Yeah, he couldn’t have really just wanted to talk.”

After saying that, a purple gaze reached Kade, as if waiting for an afterword. It was self-evident what the Master of the Magic Tower wanted to hear, so Kade said it without question.

“It’s really only been an attempt, but still no injuries.”

“There aren’t any words from Ei yet?”

“Yes.”

He felt like a living communication tool. Even thinking so, he answered calmly, and the Master of the Magic Tower nodded his head without saying anything.

The place where they were now standing was the place where they last saw Ei, and the place where the Magic Tower’s teleportation magic circle was located. However, the magic circle that must have been used for a very long time was completely erased in two days, and the Master of the Mage Tower was drawing a new magic circle over the blank.

He couldn’t figure out exactly what kind of magic he was preparing.

“It must be in a state where magic doesn’t work on her. Is there any point in drawing this?”

“But it’s better than not preparing anything.”

He was able to notice that this was one of the means to return Ei safely.

Looking at the magic circle drawn for two long days, the Master of the Magic Tower muttered calmly.

“Because even thinking that we’re connected by spirits makes me anxious.”

“…”

“It’s better to do something if I don’t want to think about it.”

It’s certainly not an illusion that those words feel like a kind of self-brainwashing on his part. Kade was silent as he just looked at the glow in his hand, and soon the gaze of the Master of the Magic Tower also reached this place.

Kade was now imprinting Ai as his agent after summoning spirits. All the burden of summoning the spirits is on him, but as the spirits follow the master’s words, so that Ei’s request can be met.

It was close to a kind of expedient, but it wasn’t a grandiose dedication either.

He just did what he could. Ei must not get hurt there so that the Master of the Magic Tower won’t lose his temper and run amok.

It was a natural choice for Kade, who had keenly realized the strength of the Master of the Magic Tower. At least, he thought so himself.

However, the impression of those who watched Kade from the side was different.

“Why do you help us?”

The Master of the Magic Tower, who had been staring at the glow, spat out briefly. Kade tried to answer, yet as soon as he opened his mouth, he lost his way and hesitated for a moment.

For the moment came when he had to express himself with words, and confusion came to him as well.

Why is he helping Ei so far? If he had simply asked the spirits to protect Ei, he wouldn’t have had to bear the unreasonable burden of not only summoning the spirits but also imprinting them.

But before he could even think through his thoughts in detail, the Master of the Magic Tower opened his mouth once again. With a look that somehow made him feel bad.

His gaze, which had been looking at the halo of light, turned to Kade before he knew it.

“Ei didn’t tell me all about it, but I heard that your attitude wasn’t favourable.”

“…”

“Yet from what I can see, you seem to be acting as if you owe Ei.”

“…Yes.”

How did Ei really say it? How far does the Master of the Magic Tower know about the attitude he showed?

The cause of his one-sided sense of debt was obvious. Regrets that his own attitude was wrong from the start, even though he treated Ei badly throughout the journey for not being helpful to them.

But if she was going to talk about him, inevitably, she had to comment on how he had been to Ei. However, he was concerned about how the Master of the Magic Tower would react when she was speaking without hesitation.

Kade, who hesitated for a moment, barely managed to ask.

“…Have you heard anything in particular about me?”

In that question, although the target he would have conveyed his words to the Master of the Magic Tower was omitted, it was obvious who he was talking about.

He only asked as he was worried about how much he should really say, yet the Master of the Magic Tower seemed to take the meaning a little differently.

Soon, the Master of the Magic Tower frowned, then he asked in a wary tone.

“Why are you curious about that?”

“Yes?”

“…No, it’s nothing. I haven’t heard anything in particular. You just weren’t favorable, that’s all I’ve heard.”

Then he was silent for a while.

“So don’t be curious. What Ei thought of you.”

“About what she thought of me…”

I’m not curious… Right. Could he determine that? Somehow he felt like he was lying. It felt like he was cheating on himself and denying his heart.

Why did he wonder what Ei would think of him?

As it always did,the confusion that would visit Kade whenever he thought of Ei was about to overtake him.

The Master of the Magic Tower, who confirmed this, tried to open his mouth again.

The group of lights that had been floating quietly in Kade’s hand suddenly made an unusual move. It goes beyond simply conveying the situation, as if attracting the summoner’s attention.

“…!”

It was a sign that Ei was passing her word through the spirit.

***

Yes, I’ll admit it. I must have believed that even though I thought the person in front of me was crazy, he didn’t go crazy beyond the limit.

The reason I’m saying this out of the blue, is because I thought that as long as he was human anyway, he would save his own life.

But looking at the man’s attitude now, it seemed that he didn’t even care about that.

“How did I complete that magic, and it all ends like this?”

Right now, the man had neither the strength to destroy the spirit nor the solution to the situation. He used up most of the mana he had expressed as lacking in his own words to activate the dimension shift magic, and even used what was left while confronting me.

Although it was fortunate for me, who was on the alert for fear of him using Masha again.

Anxiety naturally rose with the hope that all the troublesome things would end like this. The man who was desperate to grab me soon fell to the floor, bound by an intangible force.

I could see his body trembling in anger, but I couldn’t help but feel the man’s mood now.

“You don’t seem to have any more choices, so don’t you plan on letting us go like this?”

I leaned over and looked at the man, and a distorted face caught my eye. At my words, the man jerked his head up and then uttered it in a choking voice.

“…You want me to do things that will do good only on you now that you’ve come here?”

“Right. Actually, I didn’t even expect it.”

I asked just in case, so of course.

I stopped squatting down to make eye contact with the man and sighed as I stood up again. Then the only thing left is to forcefully escape from here.

I think I can get out of here somehow as long as the man has lost his strength, but it was frustrating for me when it comes to a situation where I have to find a way. As long as I don’t die right away when I open the door, everything will be fine.

While I was thinking about this and that, the man who had been struggling with his rough breathing suddenly became quiet.

Before I even reluctantly confirmed the silence that came in an instant.

“I never really thought it would turn out like this, but I did think of what I would do if all of this failed.”

As if he had no intention of giving up, the man opened his mouth again.

If you fail, you just fail, and what other useless thoughts did you have? As usual, a corner of my head started to hurt, yet the man didn’t stop talking.

“I didn’t have to think of anything else. All of my men have already been dealt with by the Magic Tower bastards, and if I’m caught, I will face the same fate as them.”

Even though it was clearly felt that he was being pressured by the spirit, the man shrugged his shoulders, pretending to be relaxed until the end.

“So what are you going to do? If I think I will fail, I have no choice but to choose a companion and go with them.”

“…What?”

“Shall I say this more precisely?”

He let out a smile that raised the corners of his lips.

“It means that this building will start to collapse from now on.”

As it was, he exploded his bombshell-like remarks.

The building is collapsing. It was so unexpected that I couldn’t understand the sentence itself, regardless of whether it was true or not. As I hardened my expression, the man burst out laughing as hard as he could, and it was only when I heard it that I managed to come to my senses.

If he gets caught, the only thing left to do is die. He doesn’t want to die alone, so he’s saying he’ll catch anyone and die with them. Wow, really. I thought he was crazy, crazy, but I didn’t know he would go this far.

It was the first time I had ever seen a person who tried to realize the so-called ‘you die and I die’ idea.

…Until this situation came, I had a complacent thought that, at best, I would have to stun the man and escape.

Suddenly, I felt a vibration that began to resonate throughout the building, and for a moment I was seized by a violent urge to escape.

Kidnapping, magic, whatever, I wish I could just go home.

“Where will you try to get out of here?”

However, the extreme tiredness that came over me in an instant didn’t last long. The man broke into a cold sweat and started to smile, and I turned around.

Suddenly, I decided to film an escape from a collapsing building.
