It was late that night. Crack! A crack appeared in Carl Windsor’s teacup. Startled, Carl stared at the cup.

What is this?

He had been drinking chamomile tea when the cup suddenly cracked. This was a teacup that Dana had given him as a gift… Upset, Carl sighed. And then,

Huh?

A sudden sense of foreboding washed over him. Something very bad was about to happen. That was the feeling he got. What was this uneasy feeling?

Hmmm.”

Something was wrong. Very wrong. Why was he feeling like this?

Carl stood up, pushing his chair back. In situations like this, it was best to check on what was most concerning.

Is something wrong with Dana?

Carl thought back to what had happened earlier that day. She must have been very disappointed and hurt that he couldn’t give her the ring. She might have cried in secret.

Dana would surely look adorable when she cried, but still, it made him feel awful just imagining her crying alone. What if she was still crying because she was too shocked? Or what if she was having a nightmare?

Carl hurried to Dana’s bedroom. He considered knocking but stopped. It was too late, near midnight. She’s probably asleep.

Dana often tossed and turned in her sleep so he would hear it soon enough. Carl leaned back against the wall, folding his arms, and closed his eyes to listen. But no matter how long he waited, he couldn’t hear Dana moving.

Was she not in the room? Or, could it be— Is she dead?

Carl quickly grabbed the doorknob and twisted it. Click. The door didn’t budge, as if it were locked. That was strange too. Dana didn’t lock her door when she went to bed…

Although he had a key in his pocket, he didn’t bother taking it out and instead used brute force to break the lock. Then he swung the door open.

“Dana!”

There was no answer. No, Dana wasn’t there. The room was empty.

Carl scanned the room. Nothing seemed out of place. There were no signs of a struggle or resistance. Which meant she hadn’t been kidnapped—she had left of her own accord. If anything seemed strange, it was just one thing: The window was slightly open as if someone had already been there.

“…”

Carl stared at the open window for a moment, then turned around and began to walk away. His instincts led him to Ignis’s room.

“Ignis.”

Knock, knock. He tapped on the door of the man who had once been like a brother to him.

“Ignis. It’s me. Are you in there?”

There was no answer.

Carl swung the door open and stepped inside.

“…”

Ignis wasn’t there either.

Carl glanced at the empty bed before looking down at the floor. Slowly, he knelt and picked up something. A single strand of green thread had fallen there. This was— a loose thread from the left knot of the ribbon on the right sleeve of the dress Dana had worn that day.

Why was it here?

Carl left the room. Before he could make a proper decision, his body acted on its own. He mounted a horse from the stables and set off at full speed toward the estate of Ignis’s fake parents, Viscount Laves.

On the way back with Dana, the rain poured down even harder. The downpour became so intense that they could barely see to continue riding. In the end, they stopped at the first inn they could find.

“Oh dear, what should we do? There’s only one room left.”

However, due to the sudden storm, many travelers had taken refuge, leaving only one room available.

“It’s fine,” Dana quickly said. She accepted the key from the innkeeper before turning to Ignis for his opinion. “Is this alright with you, Lord Ignis?”

“No.” Of course, it wasn’t alright. Ignis refused outright. “You take the room. I’ll sleep outside.”

“Don’t be ridiculous.” Dana glared at him with blatant annoyance. “How can you sleep outside in this weather?”

“I don’t mind.”

“What?”

“I usually sleep outside.” He said it calmly, leaving Dana at a loss for words.

Ignis smirked crookedly. “What? I guess a fine lady like you can’t even imagine there are people like that.”

“It’s not that… I just want you to be comfortable.” Dana mumbled, lightly tugging on his sleeve. “If you sleep outside, I’ll sleep outside too.”

“…”

Now, she was openly using her own well-being as a bargaining chip. Even a fool could see that.

Ignis sighed in exasperation. The funny thing was that her threat worked so well. In the end, he couldn’t resist her terrifyingly effective threat and conceded. But as soon as they entered the room,

What is this?

Ignis immediately regretted it. The small room had only one bed, and it was so narrow that even if they curled up tightly, they would still be touching each other.

This wouldn’t work.

Just as Ignis was about to turn away, Dana grabbed him. “Where are you going?”

“Outside.”

“Why?”

“What do you mean, why? I’m going to sleep outside.”

But Dana wouldn’t let go. Instead, she stubbornly insisted, “Fine. So you want to sleep outside together?”

She was incredibly persistent. That made Ignis sigh and shoot her a look.

“Then what do you suggest?”

“Let’s sleep together.”

“Are you crazy? In that tiny bed?”

Dana tilted her head innocently, “Is that a problem?”

“What?”

“I want to sleep with you, Lord Ignis.”

For a moment, he was speechless. He couldn’t believe what he had just heard.

“You want to sleep with me?”

“Yes.”

Her face was so calm that Ignis was stunned. She couldn’t possibly mean… that. He couldn’t think that way because Dana’s gaze was so clear and pure. Her doe-like eyes showed no sign of any sexual intent.

Surely not. Does she really not understand?

Ignis asked, just to be sure, “Do you even know what it means to sleep with a man?”

“Yes, I do.”

At that moment, Ignis sighed. She doesn’t know. She truly doesn’t know anything. Are all noble ladies like this?

While he hesitated, Dana pulled him toward the bathroom. “Go wash up first.” Then, she shoved him inside and closed the door behind him.

Staring at the small, cylindrical wooden bathtub, Ignis ran his fingers through his wet hair. This is insane.

Just wash up. Wash up first, then think.

Ignis filled the tub with hot water and undressed before slipping into it. As the warm water enveloped him, his mind started to clear. I could just sleep on the floor.

That must have been what she meant. There was no way she actually meant they should sleep in the same bed.

Yeah. She’s not that clueless.

Finally, he felt more at ease.

Yes, I’ll just sleep on the—

Creak!

—floor.

The door opened. And Dana walked in. Ignis stared at her, dumbfounded. Meanwhile, Dana turned her back to him and closed the bathroom door again.

Click! The sound of the door closing startled Ignis, and his shoulders tensed. His mind snapped back to reality.

“Hey!” He yelled, his face flushing red. “Are you cra—” But his words were cut off as if his tongue had been tied.

Dana had started undressing. She pulled at the ribbon on her chest, undoing it, and began unbuttoning her dress one by one. Her fair neck and collarbones were exposed, followed by the gentle swell below… As he was lost in the sight of those curves, her dress slipped off like a discarded skin.

“…”

Ignis was completely dazed. The beauty of her body, revealed so suddenly and so completely, left him speechless. He couldn’t believe it was real.

Was he dreaming? Was he having an erotic dream while asleep?

As he struggled to determine if this was real, Danae Windsor, now fully naked, slowly approached him. Her face was so innocent, yet the curves of her body were shockingly sensual. The contrast was so overwhelming that Ignis’s face burned even hotter.

This can’t be real. This must be a dream. There’s no way this could be real—

Splash.

There’s no way Danae Windsor would get into the bathtub with him, right? But she did.

Dana stepped into the tub, sat down with her legs together, and looked at him. Then she smiled. “It’s warm.”

Dana’s toes touched him under the water.

  1. Yeah… I think I’m gonna have to skip the next chapter cuz wth Danae? I get that you’re desperate but still?! HIM?

Idk why but I hate Ignis with a burning passion.

    1. Same, but between Carl and Igris, it’s tough. Plus, she wasn’t aware Rumie was on his way

  2. Ainda prefiro o ruivo aí Carl 😒 francamente o Carl está lá no fim da fila, depois do príncipe – apesar de admitir que a química é inegável 🤌🏻
